In Ubuntu 18.04, I bring up a new page, click in the search bar in the middle of the page. Then when I start typing it jumps to the address bar although I have already placed and preferred the search bar to the right. No! NO! NO!

I use Duck Duck Go but Google does the same.

It is bad enough that the upgrade was automatically loaded but on top of that, changing preferences including dumping my home page. Change privacy settings without asking ( to a lower level on top of that ).

Really POOR form.

With the new Proton UI, if you're in compact mode, then muted tabs don't show the favicon (the icon at the left hand side of the tab which represents the website). It's replaced by the mute icon, making it harder to distinguish different tabs visually. See the example in the screenshot.

Is it possible to bring the favicon back?

I don't know if it's a need to mark your territory, or some marketing major blathering about "holistic new user experience paradigms"--and I put up with the stupid move to tabs on top (because apparently some dev felt that what Firefox users really wanted was Chrome!)--but this is a hideous, steaming turd.

'Oh no, showing the 'close tab' icon and clearly delineating between tabs interrupts the synergistic flow of the UI! Let's make the tabs one disgusting, unreadable blur from left to right! Also, let's make them take up more real estate on the screen, because people have higher resolution screens now--we can totally dominate the upper quarter! Oh, and force the change to the new layout, don't give people an option to revert--and don't warn them, either! EVERYONE MUST SEE OUR MAJESTIC, PERFECT, UNASSAILABLE VISION! Surely that won't confuse TF out of a bunch of grandparents whose hapless children/grandchildren will have to completely re-explain, multiple times, how to get to Facebook!'

Rolled back to 88.01, went through the "new profile" crap you put in to discourage rollback/cover for poor programming, and disabled automatic updates. Barring a major, earth-shattering security vuln, I'm done updating. And when that time comes, I'll find another browser.

Posting here because they've stopped soliciting feedback--probably because they know they've unleashed a sloppy splattered dook onto the world and they're tired of being screamed at.

I just got the most recent update for Firefox, and since then I can only search in the address bar, which I don't like. In the past, I could just use the web search tab from the Mozilla homepage, and the address bar was only for URL links and websites from my history. Now, every time I try to search withing my web search tab, the texts moves to the address bar. I tried working on my settings, but regardless of how many times I uncheck the 'search in the address bar' option, it will check itself again automatically (I'm not sure this is necessarily the problem). I have already tried things in about:config, setting keyword.enabled, browser.urlbar.oneOffSearches and browser.fixup.alternate.enabled to false, but that changes the way the address bar works, it does not fix my issue. Is there any way to change that?

My email service-provider here in Australia is Telstra. This service can be accessed either from Telstra's Webmail site via a browser or via an email client app. I've recently linked Thunderbird 78 to the service, using the IMAP option.

One of the filter options offered by Thunderbird provides for the automatic deletion of an incoming email if it has certain words included in the subject heading. I have found that this filter can be bypassed by the simple trick of including one or more emojis in the subject heading. Scammers appear to be aware of this dodge, because some types of phishing emails I've been getting have subject heading which always start with the same words but also include a number of emojis, which like the sender's addresses, differ from one case to the next.

I suppose that if I repeatedly tag such phishing emails as spam, Thunderbird will eventually learn to shunt them straight into the junk folder. Nevertheless, the issue I've described does seem to represent a loophole in the app's defenses, and which ought to receive attention. I lack the technical expertise to judge whether this issue should be regarded as a bug in Thunderbird, or whether it perhaps has arisen just with the particular service-provider. I mention this latter possibility because the setting options on Telstra's Webmail site also include provision for the same type of inbox-management rule, and it too is fooled by the emoji trick.

Any helpful comments or feedback would be appreciated.

Why has FIREFOX decided to make it impossible to even find the COPY Paste functions ?????? Now the "Shortcuts" seem to be the only way to do so and REQUIRE TWO HANDS when only one of mine work that well??? WHY WHY WHY did FIREFOX screw up a simple design that worked?? Why change what people are happy with for no reason other than some computer addicts need to change things to occupy themselves? The visuals are awful and undivided. DO you think everyone is 25? Do you realize that your mucking around makes it really hard for older people with older vision to use the browser. I just had to waste an hour trying to restore some functions to the address bar and tool bar. Why not make it easy for regular people to use and let the computer addicts take things away that THEY don't want? THIS WHOLE DEAL IS EFFECTIVE AGEISM because you are making the browser unusable for older people. If you were older, you might understand how difficult it is to remember all the pointless changes that you are making, that REMEMBERING 100 shortcuts is impossible for most older people. I'm afraid that now you are sending me to horrible Chrome or Edge just cause FIREFOX now seems designed for and by 25 year olds.

Is there any way to disable the urlbar autofill on mobile? It used to be possible to just turn off `browser.urlbar.autofill` in `about:config`, but that's no longer available. Even if I use Firefox Developer or Nightly so that I can actually get access to `about:config`, the option is no longer there. I absolutely despise the autofill, and, up until the new version of the mobile browser, Firefox was the only browser that actually let me turn it off. I was disappointed when the update broke that, but I waited, figuring that it was still new and there were some kinks to work out. And now it's been months and it's still missing. Is there still some other way to turn this off, or am I missing something?

A few days ago, I couldn't access the mozilla addons cdn, and I filed a bug report (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1713743), but it quickly became apparent that the issue was on my end, and then the next day I could access it again, so I closed the bug. Unfortunately now I can access the CDN but I've since stopped being able to access addons.mozilla.org. I have never had an issue accessing any other website, but for some reason I've had/am having issues accessing both parts of the mozilla addons store in 5 days.
