I'm using the latest version (145) and I've setup my office 365 email account. I'm trying to setup my calendar account as well but when I enter location, username and password it says that my credentials were not accepted.

I assume this means that TB is using legacy un/pw authentication which is no longer supported instead of OATH2. There is, however, no option to select OATH2 in the calendar setup process (like there is for email).

Are office 365 calendars supported by TB 145?

On each restarting of Thunderbird, my remote (caldav) calendar is switched off.

None action can do to remain enabled this calendar. When it is switched on, all work fine, but when I restart Thunderbird, it is switched off again and I must switch on it in the properties dialog.

On Linux Debian 10, Lightning 68.9.0-1~deb10u1.

Hello community!

I use Thunderbird desktop for two emails: personal outlook.com (ms365 or whatever ma calls it) and school exchange account.

Exchange works fine using owl and is able to sync calendar correctly. For personal email, it appears I can only connect via imap instead of MS’s protocol, which limits its ability to sync calendar. I’m wondering if there’s a way to login personal ms email similar to exchange to sync calendar etc.?

Thx in advance for ur help :-)

Thunderbird version 140.5.0esr 32 bit now seems to dismiss reminders on its own -- i.e. without authorization/permission.

This makes the calendar/reminders feature worthless, at least to me.

Am I missing some setting so the old behavior can return? (Previously, each reminder would have to be dismissed or snoozed manually before it would vanish from the reminders window)

Thank you so much!

There is an old question just like this here and the answer doesn't work for me.

I would like to see my tasks appear on my calendar ie a task due on the 26th should show up alongside any appointments I have in that date slot. Google Calendar does this.

The answer to the question linked to above says to use View - Calendar - Current View - Tasks in view

I have those options and I tried them. Nothing. I have a task with a date and time on it and I am looking in the calendar for the right date and I don't see it. Is this feature still working? Is there something else I need to do to turn it on?

Thanks

Thunderbird 140.5.0esr (64-bit) on ubuntu unity 24.04 Desktop

Hi. I'm a long time and happy user of Thunderbird.

I have some suggestions to make it even better IMHO:

1. I would like to see some color added to the Calendar to make it visually more appealing. Right now it is grays and blacks - see attached pic. It would be nice if there were options to change the colors of the top 4 lines.

Currently you can choose a Category Color, but I would like to see the Title of the Event in that color, not just a tiny unobtrusive Bar at the end of the Title.

2. When you Click on an Event, a Screen comes up showing some information for that Event and an 'Edit' button. I don't see the point of this. Why not go directly into the Edit ? Of course for Multiple Occurrence Events, you would still first ask if the Edit is for 'Current' or 'All'.

3. I don't get the 'ESR' & 'Release' business. I have the 'ESR' version which, I believe, means I will only get updates once a year. Why ?

Seems like a hassle to convert to the 'Release' version. I don't think I will bother. Why not just have one version, and provide updates regularly as most other Software does?

I really appreciate this venue which provides the ability to post questions. Last week I got a long time problem resolved as a result.

Thanks for listening. M.....

Thunderbird 145.0: Calendar providers missing, no Google/CalDAV options, new profile not created

Hi Thunderbird team, I recently moved over from Postbox because Thunderbird is known for being stable, powerful, and professionally maintained. I’m more than willing to … (read more)

Hi Thunderbird team,

I recently moved over from Postbox because Thunderbird is known for being stable, powerful, and professionally maintained. I’m more than willing to financially support the project if it means the basics — like Google Calendar integration — work reliably.

I’m assuming this is just a technical issue on my system, so here are the full details.

I’m on macOS Sonoma, running Thunderbird 145.0 (aarch64), and the entire Calendar module appears to be missing.

Symptoms: • When creating a new calendar, only “On my computer” is available • No Google, no CalDAV, no ICS, no network calendar options at all • The calendar wizard never shows Google OAuth • No calendar providers appear in the UI • calendar.provider.* entries are missing in about:config • The profile does not contain an extensions/ directory (so Lightning and the GData/CalDAV providers are not being created or loaded)

What I have tried: 1. Fully removed Thunderbird.app 2. Downloaded the correct aarch64 build from the Mozilla CDN 3. Renamed the existing profile (…default-release → …default-release-old) 4. Started Thunderbird with –ProfileManager to force creation of a new profile 5. Thunderbird shows the “Profile missing” dialog but does not automatically generate a new default-release profile 6. After manually creating a new profile, the Calendar module is still missing 7. No calendar-related files are generated in the new profile either

My goal is simply to add Google Calendar using the built-in provider, but Thunderbird behaves as if Lightning and all calendar providers are missing.

Question: How can I force Thunderbird to regenerate the full Lightning/Calendar provider set inside a new profile? Or: Which specific files or modules must exist for the calendar subsystem to load?

Any help would be appreciated — at the moment Thunderbird cannot create any network calendar at all.

System diagnostics (Calendar providers missing in Thunderbird 145.0 on macOS 14.8.2)

macOS version: macOS Sonoma Version 14.8.2 Build 23J126

Thunderbird version: Thunderbird 145.0 Executable type from the “file” command: Mach-O universal binary: x86_64 + arm64 The correct universal binary is installed.

Profile configuration (from profiles.ini): Profile1: default → Profiles/2a3nceor.default (Default=1) Profile0: default-release → Profiles/gpr8c7hb.default-release Install section shows default-release is locked as the default profile

Problem summary: • Thunderbird reports “Profile missing” • Thunderbird does not auto-create a new default-release profile • Even newly created profiles do not load the calendar subsystem

Calendar-specific issue: • “New Calendar” only shows “On my computer” • No “On the network” option • No Google / CalDAV / ICS • No Google OAuth login flow • Thunderbird behaves as if Lightning is not present

Profile folder contents: The profile does not contain: extensions/ Lightning gdata-provider caldav-provider ics-provider calendar-data/ storage.sdb local.sqlite

prefs.js contains no calendar.* entries. This suggests that the entire calendar subsystem is not being initialized.

Expected behavior: • A new profile should include Lightning + providers • “On the network” → Google / CalDAV / ICS should appear • Provider modules should be created inside the profile directory

Actual behavior: • No calendar subsystem • No providers • No way to add any network calendar

Request: What could prevent Thunderbird 145.0 from generating or loading the Calendar/Lightning subsystem on macOS 14.8.2, even with a completely new profile? Which component might be failing to register?

Hi,

since Thunderbird 145 installed, I can't update my Nextcloud calendars anymore. Neither new calendar entries are created, nor can I delete them, nor can I acknowledge a reminder. - The create dialog simply closes, no error message, but also no calendar entry. - The Delete button when editing a calendar entry just animates it's being pressed. Nothing else happens. - The reminders window does not close. Neither for a single reminder, nor dismissing all reminders does anything except animating the button press.

I (thought a long time about this and then) tried to unsubscribe from the calendars and tried to add them again. Not a good idea: Now TB only shows "Searching your calendars" indefinitely (for hours). This is regardless of whether I add a username for logon or tick the "no credentials needed" box - to me, that seems to indicate TB is not communication at all with Nextcloud.

This all worked fine before the TB 145 update :-(

Using Nextcloud Hub 10 (31.0.10).

Any hints?

Danke & Grüße von nobi

subscribe to .ics calendar not succesful

Hi,

I try to subscribe to online calendar (.ics format), for example the calendar of the school of my child: webcal://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/e9d7c3e1627c47dbbb494c04dd439cb6@montessoricollege.nl/90ee10a5ac224fa2af7e51cd8be5a46215938853368348660489/calendar.ics

But no matter what I try Thunderbird always returns there's no calendar in that particular location. When I try to subscribe to the same calendar in Google (online) it works fine and I can see all content.

This is just an example. This problem occurs with virtually all calendars I try to add in Thunderbird.

Has anyone a solution for this problem? Thanks

Hi, I was running Thunderbird on windows 10 before I had to do a system reset, so all software has been wiped out from the disk. After reinstalling thunderbird I wanted to recover the previous calendars, so I copied the backed up files within the 'calendar-data' directory to the calendar-data directory in the new install and moved the new files in a directory. (see attached image) Before doing this I had already created some new calendars in the new installation.

Nevertheless, despite the files have been moved and the older ones substituted them, I keep seeing the newly created calendars but NOT the older ones (which are the ones that interest me) and I believe I should not see the newly created ones. Why is this happening? Why is Thunderbird still showing me the new calendas when the files aren't accessible anymore??? Regards

That’s not a new bug for me, I’ve been dealing with this one for a few years new, across multiple PCs and Thunderbird installations: from time to time, some of my appointments disappear from Thunderbird calendar. Forcing a synchronization achieves nothing: the appointments are correctly available on google calendar and are missing from Thunderbird.

From time to time I need to unsubscribe from the google calendar, re-subscribe and for a few days everything is fine. Then appointments start to disappear again… rinse and repeat.

Now, I understand it’s impossible to point out what’s going with so little details, and in fact my question really is: what can I do on my side to identify the root cause of this? Are there error logs I can check or other clues that can help with that?
