I am unable to connect Thunderbird to my “Personal” Outlook.com mail account. I installed Thunderbird on a new laptop with Win11-home. I connected to yahoo and icloud without issue. In the past I used an app-specific password to connect Thunderbird to Outlook. But Microsoft no longer allows me to make app-specific passwords on a personal account. I have two factor authentication on the MS account. I have tried turning off virus and firewall protection, without success.
When I create a new email account in Thunderbird I get the following error. “Authentication failed. Please check the username and password - Exchange auth error”
If I put my personal name in the Your Logon field, rather than my email address, I get a Microsoft screen pop that shows “oauth2” in the URL. But if I click the personal account they present it quickly fails.
Is there a workaround, to fix this, since I can’t get a app-specific password and have two-factor authentication on my Microsoft account?
Thank You for any help you can provide. I have spent a day researching this without success.
Kurt
All my BT incoming E-mails are being sent directly to "BIN" when they should go to the "INCOMING" folder! Any ideas, please. Thanks. Roger.

I have just started getting this error message when sending email from my @live.ca account. I do not get this message when sending from a @gmail or @company.ca address.
Quote: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Non-Compliant sender address. Code : -1. Please check the message and try again."
I can send and receive email using this address from my Android phone or from my Windows eMail client, so why is Thunderbird causing this? I have looked through all the setting and cannot find anything different from the settings for the @gmail accounts.
Thanks. Dave

Not receiving email from certain "institutions;" seems OK from individuals, but can't be sure. Use Outlook address as main "give out" address. All mail is autoforwarded to a Gmail address where Tbird picks it up. Been happening for a while, but this is todays experience. Intermountain Healthcare (IHC) sent me an email with a verification code for my email address. Never arrived. Went to Outlook.live.com > not there. Went to Gmail.google.com > not there. Does this imply it's IHCs fault? REALLY having trouble resolving this. Suspected it has happened with other "institutions" as well, as phone calls indicated emails had been sent. Have created "Message filter" that runs before spam classification that moves messages from IHC addresses to my inbox, but doesn't seem to help. Any help appreciated.
when i receive a email message it come with drop down screen wanting me give permission to erase messages.

Hello,
let me tell you that I have a few hundred email filters defined, and they (almost all) work fine.
There are three filters that cause problems, and it looks like the problem sticks to the sender.
Let me expand: FAZ, REWE, and Campact cause problems. Two out of three emails from these senders can't be moved to the target folders. I get a pop-up messeage telling me that I have to repair the folder. I do so, and a few days later the same problem comes up. Just for these three senders.
I searched all folders for filters for these three and removed all filters I could find.
Then I created a new folder as a child to the inbox folder, and a new folder inside of this folder to hold emails from FAZ. I defined a new filter rule, as the old ones were removed. Worked for a few emails, and, voila, the message pop-up came again, telling me there are problems moving the email over to the (new) target folder.
Let me repeat: all other filters work fine, just emails from these three senders cause problems.
Any idea where I could have a look, a switch to check?
One last information/idea: all three have different email addresses they send from, I will check the ones that do not work, maybe there is a clue.
I am using POP3/SMTP, not IMAP.
Hoping for a tipp, a clue, an idea -
Georg

That's a weird one, but I did some testing, and I am sure it is some problem with my Thunderbird or configuration.
Here is what I do. I received an email. I reply to it. I see the reply in the Sent folder. Then I click on the reply and choose to reply to that (as a follow-up email). I verify the recipient is correct and send it. They received my email, but I can no longer find it in my Sent folder. It is nowhere to be found. Tested with another email client - everything works as expected.
Does anyone have a clue what I am doing wrong??

This is a new problem, and I don't know why - nothing has changed on the account. When trying to send an email, I get the message Sending of message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded Relay access denied. Authentication required. Please verify thst your email address is correct in your account settings, and try again. I have checked account settinga, and the address is correct. However, the 'from' address at the top of the email to be sent gives our names (Iain & Sue), the correct email address, then repeats the email address, then Cc Bcc. This does not seem right. Can you help, please? Iain Harrison

I am sending a message with Thunderbird through my email server Yahoo. The sending has worked flawlessly until yesterday afternoon; I am getting the following error.
Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.mail.yahoo.com timed out. Try again.
This works fine with Outlook but not Thunderbird since yesterday afternoon.

I received an e-mail containing an invitation. Inside the invitation, Thunderbird corrupted a URL (zoom link) by adding an extra "\", and corrupted the sender's e-mail address, by concatenating it with the sender's last name from the previous line. Has anyone else seen this? How can I prevent it from happening?
Screenshots of the invitation are attached, one copied from the message on the mail server (gmail viewed in Chrome), and the other showing how Thunderbird rendered it. It's drastically different in format, which would be fine, except the content has been changed as well. Note the extra "\" in the Zoom link in the Thunderbird version (verified incorrect) and the e-mail address Davidcdavid@FCNL.org, containing the extraneous characters "David"
Many thanks for help.

Thunderbird stopped getting incoming email. I can log into my email via a browser to my email provider and get current emails that way, but not through Thunderbird.
I AM able to send emails, and they are received at the other account. However, they don't show up in my Thunderbird "sent" folder.
My provider tech support was unable to help me correct this, but all settings appear normal.
I restarted Tbird, and rebooted the computer. Nothing changed. I'm running windows 11.

I have Mozilla Thunderbird installed, the Yandex mail instructions say - The server name is imap.yandex.ru and the server name is smtp.yandex.ru . with such constructions, the mail does not arrive. Mozilla uses ru - com instead by default and everything works, but it feels like it's wrong because everything slows down terribly. If I change to ru, the mail does not work. https://disk.yandex.ru/i/7V9_I1XwoBLPiQ
