Hi, Thunderbird notified me of an update this morning, worked fine before that, I installed the latest update (78.6.1) and since then, the program starts with a blank window and isn't responding anymore. Running Windows10 home 1909. Since I've had this problem before after another update, I already tried the following: - new profile, I completely removed all traces of Thunderbird files under my AppData folder (local, localLow and roaming), it does exactly the same with a completely fresh profile so the issue is not profile related. Everything after that has been done with a fresh profile every time. - uninstalled Mozilla Maintenance Service, because last time I had this problem, uninstalling this service fixed the issue, not this time. - tried safe mode, even with a fresh install it would load at least the menu this time before not responding. - restart windows, several times. - tried 32 and 64bit versions, tried 78.5.1, same thing, 68.9.0 started right away, but I can't use my old(new) profile with this one, splendid.

I've already wasted several days with this issue last time and this is getting reaaally frustrating, I don't know what changed the past couple updates, but this is getting worse every time. Thanks for any kind of help.

In the age of COVID and a switch to more remote work the dependency on online meetings has increased. The company I work for uses Google Apps for Business and has been using Google Meet for a long time, and I've never had any problems with it not working. Recently though, when I join a meeting using Firefox, nobody can hear me and it appears Firefox is not able to access my microphone. Here's what I've done to test:

1. Reviewed Windows 10 settings to make sure microphone input slider is up. 2. Checked other browsers, running Google Meet using Chrome works fine. (Note: everything was working before and I attempted to use Chrome to try out changing backgrounds. It seems like this is when my problems with Firefox began) 3. I've tested my microphone using https://www.onlinemictest.com/ initially it didn't appear to work, but if I tap on my laptop screen near the microphone I see lines showing activity, but it won't pick up voice. Using this same tool in Chrome works as expected. 4. I tested using Private Mode - Same results. 5. I tried clearing the startup cache - same results. 6. I tried using Safe Mode - same results. 7. Refreshed Firefox (using Troubleshooting Information screen (Refresh Firefox...)

I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure out what's going on, and why it only appears to be Firefox that's having a problem. Other apps like Zoom, and recording video using just the webcam on the computer also works fine.

Any help in getting this figured out would be appreciated. I try not to use Chrome if I don't have to, but switching to Chrome so I can join web meetings is a real pain.

I am a Windows 7 Firefox user. A dying computer is forcing transition to Windows 10. I have used Windows Live Mail 12 for years, and have thousands of emails stored in 4 or 5 accounts on the old computer. The Mail program in Windows 10 will not accept a transfer of my emails and profiles, according to Microsoft Support (Microsoft Sales told me it would, but that's another story). Can I export my emails to Thunderbird and then transfer them to Thunderbird on Windows 10? My only other option appears to be Outlook, and that is the road to Hell. Thank you.

For about a week now a few websites are taking a long time to load on my 4 PCs (examples: ebay.com, walmart.com, pch.com). If I click the link on the search page it takes almost 30 sec to load, right click and open in a new tab same time, and open a new tab and type or paste address the same amount of time. Most other website open almost immediately.

The issue does not resolve in safe-mode or if I manually disable add-ons. I'm using the default theme.

All websites load without issue on Chrome and Edge.

Hi all, I'd be really grateful if someone is able to help me. I recently transferred all my TB emails from an old computer to a new one. I have an account from when I was a student last year. All the emails and the headers seem to be there but I can't access them or view them because of the login prompt on TB. The problem is after you have stopped being a student the account on their server is taken away so you can't log in. There are some extremely important emails which I have on that account and which I now really need for an important personal matter. Is there any way of accessing these emails? Because all the files of the emails seem to be on my computer it's just that I'm met with the login prompt whenever I try to look at anything within that account.

Would it be possible to maybe turn off the login prompt somehow and see the emails? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

Yesterday i did some maintenance of my inbox. Basically, rearranged a few folders (directories), eliminated some, etc. After ascertaining everything was working, I ran Thundefix (as a preventative). Again, everything seems fine.

Today, my inbox is flooded with messages, which the filters didn't route. So I went into the message filters, clicked edit, the ran the filter and it worked. Great I thought, a minor inconvenience but not the end of the world (although I've probably got 200 filters). Anyway, I did a few more as new email came in (figuring if kept plugging away and 'updating' the filters eventually I'll get done). So to recap, 'update' of a filter is just me clicking on the rule, clicking edit, then save and exiting because the rules are exactly as I made them, and when I click run manually, the filter rule works and the message is routed appropriately.

Here's the rub. Later today, more messages arrived for filters I have already done. Weird thing is, they're not working. However, if I go into message filters and select run manually, it works perfectly. It's just not automatically. Anyway, as you can imagine, it's driving me batty.

Help gratefully appreciated. Note, been running Thunderbird for years. This is new behavior. -- Cheers, John

I wondered if it was the firefox homepage storing data in the cache, but when I clear cache, and then open another firefox homepage, it shows 0kb.

I'm using Outlook in my iMac Pro running Big Sur 11.1, and when I click a link in an email, two FF windows open, one with my default homepage and the other from the link.

This only happens when FF isn't already open.

I've adjusted the settings to no avail, and then reset FF but the problem remains.

It doesn't do this with other browsers when set as the default, just FF.

I see other posts relating to this issue, but cannot find the solution - if there is one?

Thank you.

Hi all;

I'm running Thunderbird 78.6.0 (32-bit), Windows 10.

I have two accounts on a domain, call them primary@domain.com and secondary@domain.com. This domain does not have an SMTP server.

I have a third account on a commercial service - Mailbox.org - call it account@mailbox.org.

In the Outgoing SMTP server section of Account Settings, I've set up the Mailbox.org SMTP as the server, with the account@mailbox.org login settings.

Both account primary@domain.com and secondary@domain.com have "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" pointing to that default "Mailbox.org (SMTP)"

When I send as account@mailbox.org, it sents without problem.

When I send as user primary@domain.com, it sends without problem.

When I send as user secondary@domain.com, it fails with "<secondary@domain.com> Sender address rejected".

The thing is, all three point to the same SMTP server, with the same SMTP credentials. I've deleted the password and reset it, with no difference.

For some reason, when using primary@domain, the SMTP server uses the stored account@mailbox.org settings, as it should. But when using secondary@domain, somehow the SMTP server is ignoring those credentials. I don't see any configuration differences between primary and secondary.

In Thunderbird, account primary@domain.com has the outgoing SMTP server configured to use the account@mailbox.org account's credentials. I can't see how primary and secondary are any different, other than one works, and the other doesn't.

I've duplicated the SMTP settings to an SMTP2 server, with the same result. The primary can always send, but the secondary cannot.

This is probably something simple, and some setting somewhere, but I can't find it.

I am running Win10 Pro on a Dell XPS 1645 laptop which I normally run 24/7. I shutdown the PC a couple of days ago and upon rebooting, it appeared that a Thunderbird 78.6 update may have installed, as Thunderbird opened with three tabs displaying

- My Email address - Account Settings - Troubleshooting Information.

The display in the (My Email Address) tab now shows only Inbox and Trash under My Email Address heading, and Trash and Outbox under Local Folders heading. The 100 odd folders into which my email is normally sorted, and the messages contained in those folders, are no longer displayed - only messages which have been received since the shutdown, under Inbox. I have been through the process of overwriting the new .default file, with my backup copy of this file (which I have confirmed still contains all of the missing folders and emails), but cannot fathom why Thunderbird will no longer display the required folders and emails. I have Uninstalled and Reinstalled Thunderbird a further two times, ensuring I replace the newly created .default file from c:\users\username\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default with my backup copy of the .default file, with the same result. All other applications were shutdown for the reinstallations, including my Antivirus software. I would greatly appreciate any assistance which might allow me to resolve this issue, as I have more than 6Gb of data stored in my .default file which I wish to access. Phil
