Thunderbird (current version) freezes each time an email is closed and when it does so, it freezes the entire computer. Computer: MacBook Pro 16"; Tahoe 26.2. The freeze last for 2-5 seconds before it releases.

My junk email has increased dramatically lately. I'm sure it's just life on the internet but I'm trying to figure out if clicking "unsubscribe" actually does anything. I've been putting all the emails that I click "unsubscribe" into a separate folder. I'd like to sort the folder by the email address of the sender. However, when you click on the "from" selection in the message window it gives you the entire entry that the sender put in the send section. In other words I see "The Scary Law, Thomas T. from NFE <daily@today.newfinanceera.com>". Is there a way to get a column that just shows the "<daily@today.newfinanceera.com>" so I can sort on that item?

Bonjour à tous et toutes, Je ne dois pas être le seul à demander ou redemander, cette question auquelle je ne trouve pas une seule solution éventuellement proposée, qui règle le souci Explication J'ai donc thunderbird avec 5 comptes de mails d'opérateurs différents dont, l'emmerdeur FREE En effet, en plus du logiciel, j'ai un vpn sur mon pc et mon mobile pour le travail et autres Si par malheur j'interroge mon mail free avec mon vpn actif soit sur pc ou sur le mobile, tout se passe correctement mais trés rapidement dans la nuit cet emmerdeur de free bloque mon mail, annule le mot de passe car il a détecté le MAL !!! et bloque toutAlors les ennuis commencent avec thunderbird Je m'arrache les cheveux, car à peine déclencher evidemment il interroge free et là !! bim !!! refusé ! et c'est le caca !! la fenêtre de connexion pour free, n'arrête pas de revenir bloquant tout, tout !! tant qu'il n'aura pas un bon m d passe ! et je ne veux pas supprimer le compte mail pour débloquer, car cela fou la merde avec tous mes dossiers de mails free enregistrés dans thunderbird , et c'est pénible de tout remettre et relancer et reconfigurer comme on le souhaite Je voudrais savoir pour les ingénieurs et leurs grandes antennes de thunderbird, ne font rien pour ce souci a priori réccurent et connu On m'a dit de décocher des cases pour essayer de "sauter" free mais aucune solution ne fonctionne C'est une vraie plaie à l'appréciation de ce logiciel. I have built up a collection of more than 400 deleted emails in my 'Deleted' folder. I am sure I will not need to refer to any of them again, and I would like to finally remove them. In the past, there was a command among the various sets of commands at the top of the page, which removed all of them, after confirming that this is what I wished to do. I can no longer find this command. Please tell me where to find it. If it no longer exists, tell me how to deal with 'deleted' material.

I spent a lot of time setting up a bunch of message filters and organizing messages into folders. I had created about twenty filters, and was running them and moving messages, etc.

My computer crashed due to a flaky display card (intermittent, but happens infrequently, so not corrected yet.) The only recovery possible is turn the power off and restart the PC. When I restarted Thunderbird, all my filters were gone. I have pretty good "save your work often" discipline, so I thought I was covered once the filters appear in the "Message filters" dialog. I don't see any option to explicitly "Save Filters", but it is possible I am missing it somehow.

How and when does Thunderbird save these? Is there something I need to explicitly do? Close and reopen the filter window? Exit Thunderbird?

Also related: Can Message Filters be exported and imported?

Running Thunderbird SUPERNOVA 115.10.1 (32-bit) on Windows 7 Professional. I'm seeing an update to 116.0 is offered now.

I've used Thunderbird for many years on many different PCs. I now want to add it to my android mobile and it's asking me for a password.

I know all my passwords for various email addresses I have, but I don't remember what password I originally used to set up Thunderbird.

Any suggestions anyone?

I have been trying to add a new contact to Personal Address book. This process refuses to complete through the "New Contact" panel. However, I have Thunderbird set to add addresses from all sent emails to the address book, and if I send that same person an email, the email address does get added to contacts list.

I very rarely use the "Add Contact" process, so I don't know how long this fault has been present.

Any help please?

I'm on latest T-bird 140.7.0-ESR 64-bit. I have random failures when trying to move individual files or folders from LOCAL FOLDERS back to MAIN emails. Moves some, sometimes, then won't move, or will move some but not all, and often corrupts the files back into Main folder. I only use one email under T-Bird. This has happened for years, but I have been judicious about moving files and lived with it. But it's still a problem that I would have thought something like this would have been fixed long ago? .The formatting of LOCAL FOLDERS & FILES in LOCAL FOLDERS seems different & convoluted vs. a straightforward formatting in MAIN where I can easily move withing Microsoft file management. But trying to reconfigure and COPY or MOVE Files or Folders from LOCAL is very problematic.

Overnight, while computer was sleeping, Thunderbird appears to have forgotten the email password. A dialog box pops up when checking email "login to server pop.centurylink.net with username {correct email address displayed} failed." With options retry, enter new password, and cancel available. Retry simply loops back to this error. Entering the (verified) correct password has no positive impact at all. Program and computer rebooted, no change. Windows 11 Pro. Password was not recently changed.

A RESPONSE to my own response comes in, and it looks completely normal! An underline is not "noticeable" enough!

A NEW EMAIL (brand new, or in a thread) should (obviously) generate the same optical indicator -- BOLD.

Hi there,

I'm looking for a mail client, which works portable. Unluckily the Thunderbird editor is real bulls... crap and miles far away from all other mail clients nowadays. All modern mail programs can handle different font types, colors, they all support different font sizes like 8, 10, 11, 12, .... point text hight and having tools like copy formats (mostly a brush) for easy formating.

Some years ago I was using an addon, which added this feature in some parts. I don't understand, why those features are still missing. Today we have 2025 and the time of plain text mails is history since 10 years.

The rest of Thunderbird is really great, especially the portable version.

Questions: 1) When will Thunderbird provide powerful and state of the art formating stuff? 2) Is there an addon which adds powerful and state of the art formating stuff?

Hi, I have thunderbird connected to a number of client corporate Office 365 systems (5 in total). The teams option works fine for 4 of them and is quite usable for chat but one of them responds that the browser is an unsupported version. I use Ubuntu 24.04 and have thunderbird and firefox installed from deb files (and the repos) so both are the current/release versions and overall everything works well so I don't believe there is a systemic issue. All connections to the clients' exchange systems are through the owl plugin. With the one client, as soon as you try to connect to their teams site, the 'Hmmm, your browser isn't supported' page comes up. As I manage that client's office platform, I know I've not made any changes to the back-end settings nor have I done so or had to do so on any of my other clients platforms so I don't think there is anything unusual about the Office 365 side (but am willing to be proved wrong). If I try logging in to the problematic teams site using firefox it works perfectly so I don't believe it is firefox being an issue. I have deleted and re-added the account. Has anyone else seen this and got it sorted, and if so how please? Many thanks, Scott...
