hi I would like to download and install firefox for android which if I understand correctly is named fenix, without going to an app store. I don't see a direct link on the main pages on the website. I noticed at https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/ it looks like it might be possible to get the apk. My concern would be does this violate any terms or licenses? Is this 100 percent ok to do? Also does the firefox owners have anything written answering this? There are websites that imply sideloading firefox might be considered using without permission and I definitely don't want that.

Hello,

I received a new laptop with Ubuntu 24.04 and I'm trying to install Thunderbird. I have tried snap, flatpack, the downloaded package and nothing works. The only one that worked so far is https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/08/install-thunderbird-deb-not-snap-in-ubuntu-24-04 but this results in a different (?) thunderbird being installed, thunderbird-esr and there is no icon in the dock and I cannot pin it in the dock, which is a bit annoying. I saw there are other people having the same issue as me https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/cannot-install-thunderbird-because-it-is-not-allowed-by-dot-thunderbird-plug-rule/28878/13 https://askubuntu.com/questions/1538919/ubuntu-24-02-error-installing-thunderbird

The command `$sudo snap install thunderbird` gives the following error `error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Mount snap "thunderbird" (609) (installation not allowed by "dot-thunderbird" plug rule of interface "personal-files" for "thunderbird" snap)`

I also tried various commands offered in response to the questions linked above `$snap connections thunderbird` returns `error: snap "thunderbird" not found`

`$snap interfaces | grep personal` returns `119::personal-files firefox:dot-mozilla-firefox 'snap interfaces' is deprecated; use 'snap connections'.`

`$snap version` returns `snap 2.67 snapd 2.67 series 16 ubuntu 24.04 kernel 6.8.0-51-generic`

`$snap list --all thunderbird` returns `error: no matching snaps installed`

I also tried via the Ubuntu "App Center" and the Install button just keeps coming back. I expect it's running into the same error I have via the terminal and doesn't give any feedback in the graphic interface.

Please let me know what I must do to install Thunderbird via snap.

Thank you, Caroline

I've tried disabling it with the secret menu and it makes no difference. Seeing as Mozilla don't give a singular toss about the needs of their neurodivergent users I want to install an old version of firefox for android with a version of the UI that doesn't make me want to self harm. I know how to disable android updates but not install an old version safely. How do I do this?

Attached a screenshot of the new UI. As an aside if anyone can recommend the drugs that the people who designed and approved this ugly tosh are on I'd love to know what they are, must be good stuff for them all to make decisions this asinine.

This has been re-posted. In error my first post said ‘Firefox’ NOT ‘Thunderbird’.

Hi all. I recently had a terminal problem on my Win 10 computer so have bought a new Win 11 machine. I ran Thunderbird mail on the old Win 10, had 5 email accounts, had about 12 local folders and had my Profile stored in a folder on the desktop. The folder was moved there some years ago but don 't remember how I did it. I moved it there because this folder gets backed up every night.

So, I have managed to remove the HDD from my old machine and have located the 'old' profile folder. I now need to re-install Thunderbird on the new machine and match it up to my old profile folder (I think...)

Any advice on how to do that?

But there is a download for the ESR version from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

Is there a reason why Linux is not on the main enterprise download page ?

I've been tasked with removing Firefox from all Windows workstations in our enterprise environment. Our users don't have local admin, so when they install Firefox, it is installed in the user's profile.

I've just installed Firefox 143.0.1 in my own user profile for testing purposes. However, when I attempt to uninstall, either from Control Panel or by running %localappdata%\Mozilla Firefox\uninstall\helper.exe manually, UAC prompts for elevation, even though I installed without elevating.

Is this a known issue? If yes, is there a workaround?

Thanks!

Sorry for the length of this request, But Please read to the end.

Please bear with me I'm 78 and not as sharp as I was. All I want to do is get back to my emails. I've been using Thunderbird for as long as I remember.

First, some background. For weeks now my computer has been telling me It needs more space to download updates. I throw out a few "Gigs" but it always wants more. My C:Drive, "110 GB solid state" is only for the Windows 10 operating system and a very small number of programs. Everything used to take up less than half the drive. All my personal work is on a separate drive. I've been saving for a new computer for a long time, still not there yet.

My Problem: I switched on my computer and it said Thunderbird had downloaded updates do I want to install them, yes. It twirled a bit but it never started Thunderbird, So, I tried starting it from the shortcut on desk top. But it said "It had been changed or moved" and no longer worked, neither would the one from the start column.

So I tried Re-installing Thunderbird. In the instructions it said download then press "Run". First it said I don't have permission to load it where it was before. It's my computer, I'm the only one here and I installed it here in 2010. (Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Thunderbird)

So I downloaded to "User" then it says "Finish installing".. How, there's no buttons and no mention of "Run". I'm completely stuck, can anybody help me ?? I've just realized without Thunderbird how can we communicate ??
