I usually view websites in landscape. However, when switching between portrait and landscape, firefox seems to refresh the page. This is a problem between browsing sessions, where I just want to continue where I was at. I may be 1/2 way down a page, exit the browser, come back to it a couple of hours later.

The app will start in portrait and then change to landscape. During this process, the page refreshes twice and when it finishes reloading, I will be on a different position on the page and have to find my way back to where I was reading.

So... I want to force firefox in landscape mode to prevent this problem. However: 1. There seems to be no menu item to allow this. 2. A web search says this is available in about:config, but about:config seems to have been disabled a couple of years ago.

Can anyone help with how to force Firefox for Android in landscape?

I must change e-mail providers in the next few days. GoDaddy POP servers would keep messages until deleted. It was convenient to use desktop, laptop, even sometimes tablet, and recent messages would be available from any machine.

GoDaddy ended that service and I must move to another provider. The one I have chosen deletes messages from the POP server immediately when they are downloaded.

I must sometimes have access to work mail when away from the desktop.

I already have Tbird set up on both machines. If I keep my work messages in a local folder on the desktop, can I simply copy that local folder to the laptop?

I would then connect the laptop to the POP server while travelling, and move messages to a different local folder, from where they could be copied back to the desktop.

Will that work?

Is there an even easier way?

I have both ImportExportToolsNG and the full set of tools in Tsai's EagleFiler. A bit of experience with each.

I have had two Gmail accounts in Thunderbird forever. Both were connected at the same time, using the same imap settings and both have worked for years without issue. All of a sudden, one of my two accounts no longer wants to delete eMails. I get the following error:

► The current operation on 'Inbox' did not succeed. The mail server for account ********@gmail.com responded: [TRYCREATE] No folder [Gmail]/Bin (Failure) ◄

The *only* difference (and I've even checked all advanced settings) between the functioning one and the failing one is the one that fails has "Bin" and the functioning one has "Trash". When I go up to Gmail online I can delete the messages there without issue and they subsequently disappear from Thunderbird.

There doesn't seem to be any option to reset or change folder names. Obviously, Gmail suddenly decided to force the name "Trash" rather than "Bin" but Thunderbird doesn't allow me to change the name and there doesn't seem to be any "Refresh" function anywhere to fix this.

After a recent upgrade of Thunderbird, I am getting the following message: "A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and settings from identity ------------" In addition to no links being "live" in received messages that are in my Inbox, there are no longer options available to "reply" or "forward" etc.!

I haven't a CLUE how to troubleshoot this and have never had this problem before in the 3 years I've used Thunderbird?

I have had TBird for over 20 years and it has been mostly trouble free. My T/B supports five email accounts with the same ISP (Bigpond.com). They are all configured for POP operation and have the same server settings. Since Wednesday, one of the email accounts will not send, but returns this error.

Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.telstra.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

The smtp settings are the same as the other four working accounts. I can even use one of the other smtp account setting and I still get the same message. I have tried the alternative smtp ports (465 instead of 587) but it doesn't help.

I have many emails in this account and I would not like to lose them. So if there is a way that I can save all of the account folders off line , delete the account and then set it up again it might help. Any suggestions welcome !

Hi One of my older laptops has v. 45 on a MacBook which has Snow Leopard 10.6.8

I recently changed web hosts keeping the same server settings except for the inbound and outbound setting. I notice in my profile mail directory that the name didn’t change to the new host. However all mail is there from the old and new host.

Is it safe to leave the directory name alone or should I set up a new mail account which would hopefully yield two directories?

I understand that there are few Thunderbird developers, and I appreciate what you do.

My suggestion is to add a handler for the Windows system wakeup from sleep message that would read messages (refresh inbox) when waking from sleep.

This would ensure that messages are read when waking up from sleep. Currently, it is necessary to click Get Messages as a manual separate step after waking a computer from sleep.

I would do it myself if I knew how to build Thunderbird and how to search and edit its source code, but unfortunately I do not have knowledge of these matters myself, nor the time to learn them.

Please.

Prior to 91.5.0 I could create an email, paste text and print, then cancel the email. No more. It was a great fast way to print screenshot grabs from Firefox since Thunderbird is always open. Saving as draft doesn't work.

Now I have to send an email to myself to print it.

Some e-mails I am sending out of Tbird are not arriving at their destination. I noticed this last week. I have been using Tbird for many years, have not changed anything.

I don't get any kind of rejection message.

Other messages I send arrive fine. Test messages to myself arrive. But I have -- for example -- been unable to post from Tbird to my listserv.

I have sent control e-mails out of my provider's webmail (rcn.com) and they arrive, but comparable e-mails from Tbird do not. RCN says they think the problem is in Tbird.

Account settings are sending (as always) to RCN's smtp address.

Before anyone mistakes this problem as a "default FROM" issue, it's not. Please read

I have contacts with multiple eMail addresses. No matter how I order those addresses in the contact's Addressbook record, when I create an outgoing eMail and start to type in an address for any of those contacts, once I enter enough letters to have TBird narrow the display down to that one contact, the eMail addresses are presented to me in alphabetical order even if I have manually ordered those eMail addresses in that contact's record non-alphabetically. Even if I "star" the first address (to make it the primary), the eMail choices in the outgoing eMail are always displayed alphabetically.

As an example:

John Smith's contact record shows three eMail addresses: ccc@gmail.com bbb@yahoo.com aaa@mac.com

When I create an outgoing eMail to John Smith (let's say he's the only "john") and either type "john" or "ccc", the suggested eMail addresses always appear as: aaa@mac.com bbb@yahoo.com ccc@gmail.com ...with the first address highlighted even if John's primary address is "ccc@gmail.com".

Suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

Hi all, I've set up proxy auto configuration with wpad. And it's working, but not in every case: On my android (version 10) phone I can enter in the advanced options the "Proxy Auto-Config" with a PAC URL. This works, but only for Chrome. When I use Firefox, the proxy is not used. Any Idea why this is the case and how this could be resolved?

I also downloaded the nightly build. With about:config I can set the network.proxy.autoconfig_url. There I added the PAC URL. But the browser still don't use the proxy. Any idea how to make this working?

Cheers

If I compose a message, click "Send" then decide I don't want to send the message and click "Cancel" at the password prompt; the message is sent anyway. This began happening about 6 weeks ago, I have tried everything I can think of; I can't think of anything I changed that would cause the problem. I've searched Thunderbird support and found nothing on the issue.

It is an issue because if someone else also uses your computer, they could send "Draft" messages without a password simply by clicking "Cancel" when prompted for a password. Generally nobody else uses my computer so that's not a problem for me; but on occasion I don't notice which account I'm in and will compose a message from one of my secondary accounts. In the past when this happened; there was no problem because I could hit cancel at the password prompt and the message would not send; but if I do that now, the message will send even though I canceled.
