The Address Book for the new Thunderbird Linux has become a train-wreck. Numerous things that were easy are now cumbersome. For example, in order to add an existing contact to an existing list in Personal Address Book, I had to create an entirely new list because there is no way to add an existing contact to an already existing list. If there is a way, I sure couldn't find it.

Is the syntax for the address book query described anywhere? (as in mail.addr_book.autocompletequery.format) Specifically, I want to match fields "starting with" the input value, not "containing" it. I also want to prefer address from one specific address book (i.e. list those addresses first) without completely excluding addresses from the others.

We have used Thunderbird for 20+ years, and have had no problems until the latest update yesterday. Now, we can only send e-mail from one of the 2 Comcast accounts for which we are using Thunderbird. If we try sending from the other account, the following error message shows up: "Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Please ensure your email address and authenticating user match when sending messages. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again." I have gone through all settings, and noticed that, for both "identities", the server is configured to use the same user name, when the other email account has a different email address. I have tried editing the server settings, adding a new identity, and no luck. Very frustrating. Again, this started yesterday after Thunderbird performed an update.

On the mail tab, the email list's "Subject" column is not left-justified (or maybe it's left-padded). However, my other columns like "Correspondents" and "Date" are left-justified. Because of the extra left-hand space in the "Subject" column, the subject line shown is reduced by about 5-7 letters.

I have my layout setup as vertical panes. For ease-of-reading/navigation I won't be switching over to a horizontal layout, even though I can have wider columns in that layout.

Please refer to the yellow-highlighted area on the attached picture.

Is there a solution for having "Subject" line up like the other columns?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.  :-)

Reporting this issue here cause i can't find if there's an actual bug report system. This issue seems to only be on firefox, I've tried chrome to see if it does it there and it's all fine. The issue is when you have the better TTV addon you can see custom emotes on twitch and some emotes are animated, the animated emotes sometimes freeze for a split second and lags the chat for the same time. I've disabled all addons on firefox except better TTV to see if other things are causing it, still does it. Made sure to test this on chrome as well with just the one addon.

When I started my computer this morning and opened Thunderbird, it showed an update to 102.5 32bit. My Thunderbird is blank yet I can hear it say I have new mail. I am on an Acer laptop running Win10, 64bit. I have restarted Thunderbird and computer more than once, but when I click HELP and "about Thunderbird" it shows "restart to update Thunderbird".

UPDATED I downloaded 102.5 64 bit, but still have the same result. Only the folder column shows, but nothing in it. The same result when I click HELP and "about Thunderbird" it shows "restart to update Thunderbird". I can still open my address book, and my calendar...I really don't want to lose either of those. I am adding two more images, one a screenshot of the opened Thunderbird. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If I receive a mail and want to forward it, or reply with some additional recipient from my address book, this turns out to be extremely tedious:

  1. open the address book
  2. search for that address
  3. click on it, so I see the possible actions to the right
  4. go for "Write" - as if I wanted to write a message to that person
  5. "copy" name and mail address from this dummy mail and "paste" it into the real one
  6. close the dummy mail

I know that SOME mail addresses would appear also directly in the to: or cc:/bcc: field if I just start typing the name, but never those that are in my main address book or the ones which I use most often!

  • Bulleted list itemIn other words: I do not really understand what the criterion is for mail addresses to appear or not. And what I can do to trigger Thunderbird to go for those that I really use most often!
  • Bulleted list itemAnd if that is not possible: Is there a shorter way to at least copy&paste a mail address from the address book to some place, without opening a dummy mail first?

I have been using Thunderbird with my earthlink.net account for many years. Yesterday they sent me an email saying that my password had been updated but I hadn't done that. After that I haven't been able to connect via Thunderbird. When I enter my password, Thunderbird asks me to try again. After I've tried several times, I get the message in the screen shot which is attached.

I had accepted an update from Thunderbird several days ago and had no problems since then.

Nothing else has changed although I did turn power off a couple of days ago to my router, computer, et al. But everything came back up ok and was running well.

I really think that this is Earthlink's problem and have called them. After looking at things, they claim that it is a Thunderbird problem so now I need some ammo to go back at them.

It's too bad that I can't call someone at Thunderbird.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

PS. I added the files as jpg's but they are claiming that they are png's.

Hi,

Since about 2 weeks ago everytime I run Firefox a process with the name 'Hello World' runs as well.

The text in the command line window reads: "This process runs at the full privileges of the user and has access to the entire public desktop API surface

Press any key to exit ... 15:16:48.6322622 (a)ThreadProc Start!! Connection established - waiting for requests"

Does anyone know what this is? I tried searching the net, but I could not find anything useful

I have tried a clean reinstall of Ffox and after running it for the first time, without signing in or installing any add-ons, the same process opened with it.

Thanks,

Mitch.

When I send email using Thunderbird (102.5.0) I receive the message:

Sending of message failed An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded <jfeagin@charter.net> sender rejected. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again.

I have verified the account settings has the correct email address but this continues to happen. Is Thunderbird's mail server the problem?

I uninstalled Thunderbird and downloaded it and reinstalled it and the error persists.

The new account 'eventually' reloaded the inbox with current messages, however the address book is empty and the file structure of saved info is also deleted. Q. Is it possible to edit the Subject line in an incoming message?

Let me explain. I send an email with a Subject line that is relevant to the message. Some weeks or months later, the recipient decides they need to email me about a different subject. Rather than opening a compose window and typing a Subject that is appropriate to the new message, they simply find the old message from me, and click on Reply. So when I receive that reply, it still has the old Subject line. This plays havoc with my filing system, and makes it virtually impossible for me to find the message at a later time. This happens surprisingly often.

I know I can select "Edit as new message". This opens the message in a compose window, from where I can edit the Subject. The problem is, when I then save the message, it shows my own email address in the From line rather than that of the person who sent it. This just adds to the difficulty of keeping track of messages.

I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance for your help.
