I have set up 2fa with my email provider (email is rdoty@gmx.com) and set an app-specific password for Thunderbird. Gmx also supports OAuth2. I have reset the passwords in Thunderbird to the app-specific one and confirmed that both ends accept cookies. The SMTP server is mail.gmx.com, port 465. Connection security is SST/TLS. The IMAP email is IMAP.gmx.com. The problem is that Thunderbird does not change Authentication Method to OAuth2. When it queries GMX it always times out or is refused. What am I missing or needs to be changed?

I have successfully added my primary Google Workspace email address, authenticating through OAuth 2.0. I'm adding a second user, but even though I sign in using the Google popup, OAuth isn't listed as an Authentication method under Server Settings, and no email is downloaded.

I have 2 email accounts on TB. Well, 3 if you count the Plusnet one being set up for IMAP and POP3. This email has been my main one forever, but Plusnet have sold it off to an independent company, which I've opted out of as it will become a paid service after 2 yrs. Both IMAP & POP 3 are set as my default email & I want to change it to my Yahoo email that I only set up on POP3.

My 1st Q. is: I can see the red delete button next to the default notice in Settings. Does this just stop the email being my default or will it delete the account entirely? I don't seem able to make the Yahoo account my default without undoing the default settings for Plusnet first (makes sense). But just want to be sure.

Q.2: Since setting up Yahoo email on TB, I noticed that while all my Inbox messages remain when downloaded on my PC, the Sent messages are being deleted to leave only the most recent (currently) 11 messages, like it is if I log in online to Yahoo webmail. Does this mean I need to configure it to IMAP as well to make sure nothing is deleted from my PC?

Eventually, I want to delete the Plusnet accounts entirely from TB. Although I am still receiving emails sent to this address, which is still quite useful, I cannot use it to send or reply to these emails. Also, since the sell off I've been receiving unprecedented amounts of spam/scam emails, especially to my iPhone (TB isn't set up on my phone).

I have tried over and over again to add a gmail account to Thunderbird, it was there before but stopped working so I deleted it and tried to readd it but now I get an error when adding it that is it the wrong email address or password which is not the case, as I just added it to Outlook and it worked perfectly.

Any ideas?

I am signed in, yet FireFox keeps popping up asking for me to sign in. I attempted to sign out and it doesn't respond. I tried deleting the account and then later installed it and I am still signed in? What can I do to sign out?

My windows 10 Desktop C drive failed, this has been replaced and I am trying to re-install Thunderbird but I can't complete the install due to the error message shown above in my question. Please advise.

I succeed in create my addresses in thunderbird, except one, the principal of my address at Orange. They say, they recognized and then, when I click on the bottom Terminé, it's writed that there is a problem of "mot de passe" or address or "identifiant". At this part, for the others addresses, thunderbird add a linguee "identifiant" and I add a name, and after, it's OK.. But, for this address, there is no linguee "identifiant", and that don't work. I don't speak well english, I'm french, sorry. Thank you for helping me to put my address in thunderbird. Stéphanie

Hi, I'm tring to rearrange the order of my email accounts in the left hand pane. The FAQ says sandwich icon -> account settings -> move them around in the desired order. This looks OK in the account settings list when I do that, but when I close it, the accounts order is as before, and this order shows up again when I re-open the account settings list. Is there any way to make this "stick"? Do I need to click some hidden Confirm button? Many thanks in advance!

I have been trying to add new email accounts to Thunderbird and they never complete the process (I have several that configured correctly prior to this error). I have tried both automated methods (With and without HUB) and the manual method of adding an account. Here is what is happening. When I add an account, I can watch Thunderbird login to the account on the status line. The login goes correctly, however the "Done" tab is always greyed out, the process never completes. I then try configure the account manually at the same screen and I get "the server is already in use" message. I believe that Thunderbird is not correctly closing the connection, leading to the "server is already in use" message, but I am not sure how to correct the issue.

I am trying to set up Thunderbird. There are questions I don't understand pertaining to such phrases as IPOP and whether I am using a server or not . I am using Linux mint.
