When sending an email using the keyboard shortcut, the settings tell me that I can set TB to give me a confirmation prompt. Why can't I get a confirmation prompt when using the Send button? Is there any way to make TB do that?

I set TB to run a spell check before sending, and that gives me an opportunity to cancel the Send operation. But it only works if the email contains a misspelling.

Thank you.

I keep getting this message "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox." every time I log in, try to delete an email that has already downloaded, and every time I click get messages to download messages.

No messages have been downloaded since two days ago. I did go on the web version of my email and deleted all emails from that time period in case there was a virus so it's not that. I strangely started when I ignored the compact folder message sever times. I did however try to compact the folder from the file menu, as well as cleared the cash and emptied the trash.

I made sure I had the latest update as well. I am thinking the software is corrupt at this point.

I am trying to set up a filter to copy the last sent email to another folder. When I do this I get a copy in the inbox from where the email has been sent. The copy ends up where I asked but the copy in the inbox is annoying and I can see no reason why it is doing this. Any pointers? Many thanks.

Since 2 days, all the emails I received in Thunderbird are not correctly delivered : no sender name, no subject and the contents appears in souce code. My provider is Orange, and I have no problem when I check my emails directly from Orange. On the forum, there is mention of a problem with Bit Defender, but I don't have it.

Hi there, I had to migrate my emails because my email host migrated to office365. All seems to be working after a lot of time and stress but when sending emails the recipient sees this in front of my address: wp12103554-306076 How and where can I get this changed, to just show my name instead? I have looked everywhere under the settings but I can't get rid of the problem. Thanks!

Not sure which "topic" best describes my question, so . . . .

OS: Windows 11 Thunderbird 140.1.0esr

I have been using T-bird for several years, and have made to changes to configuration in recent memory. Beginning today, when I try to send an email through my Comcast account, it fails with the following message:

“An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: resomta-h2p-555031.sys.comcast.net resomta-h2p-555031.sys.comcast.net EXMTP server not available.”

The outgoing SMTP server is configured as follows: Outgoing server: smtp.comcast.net Port: 465 Security: SSL/TLS

For comparison, sending email from my Android phone, using the Gmail client with the same server specs, also fails, thought it gives no information.

For more comparison, I configured Outlook to test with it, and it was able to send successfully. I noticed in setting it up that it used the same server name, but with port 587. Armed with that information, I changed the port setting in T-bird to 587. With that change, the send still failed but with a different error:

Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.comcast.net was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again.

Any help is appreciated.

When setting up a POP3 account on Thunderbird, there is the option to preserve the messages on the POP3 server "Until I delete them". There are two stages of "deletion" in Thunderbird: the first when you delete a message from your Inbox folder and the second when you delete it from the Trash folder. Which of these two causes the message to be deleted on the POP3 server?

FYI: When on vacation I want to use the Android version of Thunderbird on the tablet I'm taking along. While away, I want to preserve important messages (so they'll still be there when I get back home) and delete the unimportant ones (so that I don't have to reread them when I get home). What I want is a repository (e.g. Trash) where I can retain the important messages so that they don't increasingly clutter the Inbox on my tablet during my vacation. My ideal scenario is that a message moved to Trash is retained on the POP3 server, but messages deleted from Trash are deleted from the server.

Hello, I opened up Thunderbird and it said it was downloading 28 messages but they don't show up in my inbox. I went online to log in to my email that way and the messages were downloaded. I check the trash in Thunderbird, they aren't there. The time stamp stops at 9:23am this morning and picks up with one message at 1:05 that I received after the 28 went missing. Any ideas where they might have gone? Thank you so much!

When you are viewing an email, you used to be able to just left-click on the sender's address in the top left corner and a drop-down menu would allow you to copy the sender's email address (to use in creating a filter, for instance). That no longer works. Left-clicking or right-clicking does nothing. I have resorted to clicking to forward the message then copying the email address from the body of the forwarded email, then deleting the email. Is this an bug in Thunderbird, or did they remove this convenient menu?
