I have 1 computer that shows bars at the top and left side that I like. The one at the top shows Get messages, Delete, Reply, Reply All, and a few more items. The one on the left side shows icons that are for Mail, Address Book, Calendar, Tasks, and Chat. I have another computer that doesn't have those bars. I have attached a screen shot from that computer. Both are running T'bird 140.4.0esr (64-bit) and both are Win 11 machines. I've tried everything I can see to get the 2 bars to appear on the 2nd computer. I hope someone can tell me how to get them to show up. Thanks, Mike

Hello; Windows 10 & current version of Thunderbird. I am trying to add Messages Filters to filter out spam (getting more and more of that!) but the "OK" button on the add message filter is below the bottom of the screen. The window cannot be raised or resized to make the button visible. Photo below. Moving window does not allow me to raise window above top of screen. Keyboard (Alt-Enter) / Move will not work. Changed windows screen size just makes window larger but button still below bottom of screen.

Non-functional work around. Highlight Message name. Press Shift-Tab TWICE. Press ENTER. UGLY!

Tech since DOS 3.0

Thank you for your time and attention.

I am running TB 138 and still have some issues with the layout and UI. How can I customize the spacing and font size for the "From", "To", "CC" and "Subject" fields? I much prefer the old TB interface where all these fields were much closer in terms of spacing, and the subject line font was same the size as the rest, in bold. Any way to customize this?

Thanks in advance.

I moving from classic outlook to Thunderbird and I am having trouble finding how to change fonts and color in signatures for my emails. I do not do html it is a simple signature; name company name and phone numbers. I search and found no help. Is there a way to change color and font in the reply to an email? Sorry I know this sounds simple but I have been using outlook since it came out so this is similar but just enough to give me trouble. Thank you for any help, rick

thunderbird email program does not have a "go to inbox" option. The program automatically creates tabs, and sometimes I need them. If so, it takes up to a minute to press the back button to go back all the way through them to the inbox tab. Why cannot mozilla thunderbird supply a go to inbox tab so I can go back to the inbox directly?

I don't really need to talk to a "volunteer". This is a question for whoever writes or engineers the thunderbird product. We should be able to send such questions and requests to those people who write and design this product. Does any "volunteer" know how to contact the needed personnel to redesign the product so it offers what I need?

Every time I want to print an email, the default copy number on my printer menu is shown as 2.

I don't know how, when or why this change [from 1 copy to 2 copies] happened.

I wish to 'reset' the default copy number to 1, so I don't accidentally print a second copy and waste ink, etc.

When I want to print documents stored on my PC, the copy number field on the printer menu is blank, allowing me to enter the number of copies I want - so the issue appears to occur only when I print emails.

Thunderbird came back looking totally different after a power outage. More like 5 of them in a 30 seconds. No matter what settings I use, it doesn't look like it used to and I do not like what I have now. It is still what I like on my laptop. When I try the export function the file is much larger than the 2 gigs. I do not understand what to do when it says to back it up yourself. I have included a screen shot on how it should look.

I had a compact card view in 115 that automatically changed itself over to a new expanded card view when a Thunderbird version update in Linux Mint 21.3 changed my Thunderbird version to 128.

Here is a screenshot of how I used to have my inbox and I want to keep it that way now but I don't know how.

Screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/9FziTqh

The first picture is how I had it setup before in 115 and I want to keep that format for 128. The second picture is what TB automatically changed my view to after the update. I didn't manually make any changes.

I have a userchrome.css setup already and it is making some changes but not everything I want anymore. How to I change the userchrome.css to revert the view? I want the colors and size and everything of the lighter color as well as the multi line view.

My userChrome.css is available to view here:

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/x1ss94o727bzbptt64yot/userChrome.css?rlkey=zyywmb73r6pq9li7sah03sid5&e=1&st=cvu2yefz&dl=0

I know userChrome.css isn't officially supported but I want to try anyway.

Some software is using <pre> tags when pasting fixed-width text. Thunderbird 128.14.0esr (64-bit) displays it as a single line, with an horizontal scroll bar at the bottom.

I tried the solution in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1488239, but it doesn't work. I even tried adding "!important", to no avail.

I created a userContent.css in the chrome subdirectory of my profile, where ~/.thunderbird is actually a symlink to ~/.icedove. I stopped and restarted thunderbird, but have no clue that the file was actually read by TB. Is it possible to debug it?

I can't find a setting that will allow marking messages as read only after I read them. By that I mean only after I click on the message to open it in its own tab. I view the new messages in a split screen.

The current settings allow me to leave them bold as if I hadn't read them even after I've clicked on the message and viewed it in the full TB pane

or

Mark them as read as soon as they're displayed in the bottom half of the split screen.

I don't find either of these options desirable.

Headers are inconsequential, compared to the actual message content, I'm sure everybody will agree!

But on Thunderbird, recently, the headers take up almost HALF of the available space on the screen!

I have tried everything to reduce the message headers to ONE LINE (that is all it needs) but nothing works!!!

Have a look at FoxMail (screenshot below)! Compare it with how my Thunderbird looks (screenshot below)!

These are actual screenshots of what my entire screen looks like, with Thunderbird and FoxMail.

Foxmail has clean, simple, one line headers, with the message body taking up the maximum viewable space on the page! Thunderbird is almost 50% WASTED screen space!!!!

BTW the add-on / extension "Compact Headers" does not seem to work with the latest versions of Thunderbird.

Thank You!

I recently switched to Thunderbird from MS Office10 Outlook. Formerly, once I downloaded an email it was stored on my hard drive until I erased it. I could delete the email from the Earthlink account online, and still have it stored, thus staying under the 100mb storage limit in Earthlink. With Thunderbird, when I delete an email on line it disappears from Thunderbird.

How do I get Thunderbird to save my emails to my hard drive, so that I can delete them from my Earthlink account?
