In the new version of the Developer Edition the options "close tabs to the right" and "close other tabs" are in a sub-menu named "Close Multiple Tabs" inside the context menu. Is there's a way to change this so that they will appear directly in the main context menu? I use "close tabs to the right" often and I find this very annoying.

On another user's account, cannot go back to earlier FF version, profile files missing. Cannot start _any_ revision, old or current (using OSX Sierra on that user & different FF versions - the shared data you see her is NOT the same ) details here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1356226

I don't see the profiles.ini and installs.ini files within the Profiles folder. I see the general format from looking at good ones in my own Profile.

Don't understand why some are "locked."

How do I re-create them using the existing Profile names, and how do I denote which to startup using (the default folder?) Can't find any Help files to explain.

This is driving me mad, we are using the same physical computer because mine broke, so I start it up off an external drive containing my drive, then I have to shut down & restart on the internal drive to work on it, but then I don't have access to my saved files or to post on the forum.

Hello! Something in my Firefox installation seems to be making several Google network (google.com / forcesafesearch.google.com / www.youtube-nocookie.com / m.youtube.com, and a couple of others) calls shortly after launch. I have a DNS sinkhole, so that is how I can see.

I have a few reputable extensions (or should be, from EFF, Firefox itself, or Ublock Origin), but it also happens in safe mode. I went through a good chunk of this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-making-automatic-connections and still the calls occur

I am on Windows 10, with FF v93.

Thanks very much!

It would seem that Mozilla has not yet created an official portable mode for Firefox(Seriously, after all these years?!?). It needs one in a bad way.

Now when I say portable mode what I mean is that the Firefox EXE runs from the folder it's in, using profiles that generated and exist in that same folder and NOT in the user profile. This functionality is needed not just for easy portability, but also for easy migrations from one system to another or one installation of OS to another.

While the portability mode should be exclusive to the platform FireFox is being used on(IE Windows vs Linux, etc), it should be seamless transition otherwise.

Before anyone chimes in and says this is not possible, please don't waste your time. Forks of FF have been doing so nearly effortlessly for more than a decade while maintaining perfectly functionally and security with the same usability.

So Devs, can you please make this happen? We the public would ever so grateful.

Additionally, can we get some fine grained controls over the appearance of UI elements?

This double spacing nonsense is irritating.

Then there is the Extension Icons labels. They've been gone for a while and they need to return, or at least an option to enable them if we wish.

Next we have the "Home page and new windows" option in settings. Those two options should not be combined. When I open a new instance of FF, I would like to open a blank page. I don't want any navigation happening until I click something or type in an address. I expect FF to sit and wait for my input. Then when I click the "Home" icon button does it go to my define home page.

Next problem we have is the auto update feature. This seems to have become an incredibly nasty feature and behavior. For example, I recently updated to Windows 11. After migrating my previous install of FF to it, it swiftly and without ANY warning or user prompt at all updated itself from 78.15.0esr to 91.3. This was NOT desired So how about to folks show respect to us users by ASKING if we want to upgrade! Had a prompt appeared I would have swiftly canceled. Updates should ALWAYS be at the choice and involvement of the user, not at your whim. I had to spend 40minutes manually backtracking and recopying, which was unpleasant.

Please note that while my above statements have had some negativity to them, I am a ardent supporter of Mozilla and will continue to be. These above points are that of increasing frustration. I am of the school of thought that we the users should have complete and fine-grain controls over every aspect of how our browser operates, whether it be UI elements or nitty-gritty functionality.

I look forward to responses by members of the dev team.

Thank You, Lex

Very similar to posts in previous years that are archived and largely unanswered or not up-to-date.

I opened up my a Firefox session to find out I was logged out of sync and when I logged back in all my passwords where erased.

This has been stable for the last 10 months and Firefox has provided a reliable password archive with nice syncing features. However, this is a deal breaker, since I cannot loose the login credentials randomly.

No updates. No conscious logging out. No disregarding warnings etc.

Anyway to revert or retrieve?

While there are some things I like about FireFox, I use another browser for the vast majority of my browser use... I'm running Linux, and it seems that FireFox has locked itself in as the default browser... Since I am unable to modify that condition, is my only recourse to uninstall FireFox? Or, am I missing some secret handshake?

I'd like to add search engines to my list, without having to find addons or extensions. This used to be possible in older version of firefox by editing one of the .json/.xml files but now doesn't seem to be the case.

If this isn't possible, is there a way to modify the firefox source to allow this? I hate to say it, but it's this sort of feature removal/deprecation that is slowly turning me away from firefox. It'd be really nice to have it back.

Greetings,

I just updated to Firefox 78.15.Oesr and now am unable to reorder my open windows. As a student, I may have several projects open at a given time, and like to have the project I am currently working on, next to the open Firefox window, for quick navigation between the browser and project. This option seems to have been disabled with the update. It is enough of a deal breaker that I may pursue reverting to the previous version of Firefox.

Also, the inability to delete bookmarks, and to close the bookmark window after selecting "show all bookmarks," remains a persistent frustration that I am surprised has not been addressed. With so many browser options available, these subtle annoyances are enough to prompt me to again shop around for alternatives, after being a Firefox devotee for over 10 years.

Thank you for your help, Josh Baker

Hello! I'm running 78.15.0esr (64-bit) on El Capitan (Mac).

On my LinkedIn page, I cannot scroll the messages on the main page. I looked up any clues with the inspector and Google, but found nothing.

I deleted cookies, cache and tried in Safe mode but issue persists.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance and wishing you a great day!

The whole scrolling experience overall does not work very well on LinkedIn. I understand I'm running on an old OS, however it's the one that works the best with my laptop. Any recommendations as to what's the best and most updated browser for this version?

thanks!

By fixing the very first option you come across as soon as you go into General Under "Startup" The setting called "Restore previous Session"

Usually, a checkbox, is a boolean ON OFF.

Once more, this leaks data. For instance, logging into my webmail rebooting the machine, next time i launch firefox it spawns the same session again. This contradicts with the very first option under "General" -> Startup

If this was a public machine, some one would now have access to my email.

It seems that this is OS specific. But really, i don't care. My complaint stays the same. The option is broken, and firefox leaks data therefor. I no longer trust Firefox. This sort of stuff is not done deliberately.

Once more. perhaps bit logic is too complicated for you UI designers and a quantum gyro is more to your liking? Cause this is NOT normal.

hello, does anyone know how to create a setting to automatically save history for just one site, when you have your settings to delete all other history upon closing firefox?

This one site i use constantly (my email program), and don't want to have to go through the cumbersome process of logging in yet again and again, and i trust it so i don't feel the need for that one's history to be deleted.

thanks!

Since upgrading my iMac to Big Sur, I get an extra Firefox icon in my dock. Now, here's the strange part: it has a small screen on the icon at about 2:00. Even stranger: it connects to the website my wife has on her macbook. It gets stranger: the Firefox icon with the screen appears even if my Firefox app is off. And finally: the icon connects to her Safari app, not her firefox app. That is, when I click on the icon with the screen it shows me her Safari website.

I am at a loss.

What's the story with Firefox being so madly in love with iTunes, the moment I open Firefox, iTunes opens. Worse even. I can't close iTunes. It keeps opening up until I close Firefox.

Is this some kind of another MANDATE now? Part of the NWO? You MUST accept iTunes to jump into your face if you use Firefox?

Makes me dump this piece of intrusive waste for good, really. I am so sick and tired of this Tech-Tyranny ruling our brains, telling us what we MUST WANT and accept.
