In both my desktop older installation (now updated) and my new laptop installation, when I go thru Account Settings and check off what I want, it all changes when I leave the setup. I uncheck the startup page, and when I open both versions of Bird, the startup page is there again. Same with table/card setup, and other options. Isn't there a "save" in Account settings? Is it possible to open incoming mails in the same window as the list of e-mails, just like in Google? I get distracted from seeing suddenly my e-mail in another window/tab.

Hello All, I'm new to Thunderbird and here is something I'm wondering about: I created all my accounts and set everything to Unified ... all works fine. All 5 accounts show under "All Folders" ... if it's also checked, but I don't use it usually. In Unified view, however, UNDER the unified folders, my primary account is missing...?!? Again, I'm talking about the account list UNDER the unified folders! ... not the "All Folders" list! (if it's checked) (I usually don't have "All Folders" on)

The drop-down lists of the single unified folders, however, e.g. Inbox, Sent, etc., DO SHOW the primary account! (On a side note: under Drafts only four accounts show ...?)

So, why is the primary account missing in the list UNDER Unified folders ... (there are only four plus "Local Folders") but it is listed in the separate unified folders, if opened..? I hope explained it clear enough.

BTW, at my home computer, ALL accounts are showing (in Unified view) under the unified folders. Please let me know what I did wrong or if I have to explain it better.

Trying to change the color of the unread background and the top header bar. Got the unread message color change to work.

But if I try to change something else, it doesnt work. I dont know how to combine these codes properly.

Just installed TBird on new laptop, had an awful time. On the main mail page, across the top, there is a search bar (ctrl k). Should there be a 2nd one below it in the middle? Trying to configure it exactly like my older one, but can't find the right selections. Had remote help from BestBuy Geek, she only got half of it. The 2nd search bar is there, and tried to take a snap of it but can't get it. It has the threads symbol, the attached symbol, and one other on the left, and at the end of that line is the symbol to select them. She missed that completely. Can anyone tell me what that part is called, and where to make the selections from? (easier if I could show it to you, sorry) As always, Thank you! Stacy

View > Folders > Folder Pane Header [v] All Folders All folders is greyed out (cannot select).

I believe being able to make this selection would cause the email account name to display expanded selections. I want to be able to select this for all my email accounts to display properly in the Folder Pane: (example) Inbox Drafts Sent Spam Trash

Uploaded images are:

1. 1. View > Folders > Folder Pane Header > [v] All Folders > All folders (is greyed out - cannot select).
2. 2. My email client name list with no expanded selections.
3. 3. An example of and expanded email client name

When I use my PC (main device) Thunderbird shows individual mail folders, on my iPad the default mail client as well as individual account folders has an 'All Inboxes' This is very useful as 95% of my mail will go to one account .... so having an 'All folders' account ensures I don't miss a mail arriving on a less used account.

Is there a way to set this up on Thunderbird?

When I open an email or calendar item the window is really small. I resize the window, but next item I open goes back to being the same small size again. How do I get Thunderbird to persist the window size I would prefer?

I would like help removing one of the folders called drafts as it is empty and uses the other for subfolders. I have tried right clicking but it has no effect on removing it. Only the draft folder where the subfolders are located can be removed. How do I remove the extra draft folder. Thanks in advance for your help.

The recommended methods, changing to this in the registry :

I have lost the indicator in the folder pane showing which folder I'm in. It used to have a small color tab in the folder pane on the left hand side. Indicating that the folder was selected. Any ideas to get it back? Thunderbird 140.3.1esr (64-bit)

My Inbox folder has suddenly dropped to second last position in the folder list. How can I get it back to the top of the list? Is it possible to move the folders around?

In Thunderbird I see two methods of accessing/editing SMTP settings for email accounts.

1. Using the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" which displays all the email accounts in a list. You then select one and click "Edit" to view or edit it.

2. On each email account page there is an "Edit SMTP server" button. Click that to view or edit the SMTP settings for that account.

I'm seeing two problems:

1 - The settings made using #1 above don't carry over into what I see using #2 above.

2 - Using method #2 above, changing the SMTP settings for my newest email account also changes the settings (seen using #2 above) on one other email account. And vice-versa.

What could be causing this?

I want to change all the tab bars to hide thread column but i cant do it because toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets doesnt look for css file any more. That's a pita, i have a lot of folders I there another way of changing this and other things globally?

Thunderbird did an update 2 days ago. All of a sudden the buttons like 'forward as attachment' (and the others that were in that list) have disappeared. What happened to them? They used to be at the top left when you clicked on an email that you wanted to forward as attachment. Update shows this version--140.1.0esr

I like to use "Table view". I can select it after I open thunderbird, but every time I start thunderbird, it starts in "Card view". I am using release 140.1.1esr on Windows 11. My email is lmpetrie@live.com.

I have Thunderbird 141.0 on Windows 11. It started showing new emails in source HTML. It is set to view message body in original HTML. -- no change from before. So I rebooted laptop. No luck. I replaced the Thunderbird folder with a recent backup. No luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird. No luck. John

Something happened that took away my 'get messages' button and my 'write' button and the others that used to be there.

I can find nowhere to add these back. When I try to adde them back in view-toolbar-toolbar settings, 'SAVE' is greyed out.

Either I am a real dumb user or this is a real dumb bug that cropped up today.

I have no way to get messages or write one now.

Others have mentioned this but I'm not sure if there is a fix/anything is being done. The threads are all from previous Thunderbird versions.

I use Thunderbird for work. I have to find specific emails and folders - get to them quick. I am no longer able to do this. It's really distressing.

This is something really basic, that should be the default or else really easy to change.

I'm on a Windows machine and using Thunderbird 140.3.0esr. I've been using Thunderbird since 2003 and never had any problems. Now I'm panicking!
