Everything was working fine in Thunderbird for a LONG time. A few minutes ago I opened it and instead of opening normally it opened to a page called 'account setup'. There was another tab called 'home' that had buttons for email, calendar, address book, etc. Clicking email took me to the account setup page again.

HOW DO I GET IT BACK TO NORMAL?????

I was using my Thunderbird email application this morning and got a alert from my security software of a virus so I closed the program and run AVG and found no issues. Once I restarted my email all five accounts I had set up along with all of my address books were gone. It looked as though this was the first time I was opening Thunderbird and starting over from scratch. Is there a way I can get all of this info back? Setting up the emails, while a hassle, are easy enough but the address book is a killer because I only use this program to store addresses and now don't see any of them. Any help in fixing this would be immensely appreciated.

On Tuesday, March 22, 2022 Avast browser quarantined Prefs.js saying it is infected with VBS:Gamaredon-CM[Apt].

I suspect it was a false infection, but I am unable to access my account and folders in TB. I have used TB over 10 years and never had any problems. I get the message "The following settings were found by probing the given server". I restored the file from quarantine, but it now has a 3/22/2022 create date. I'm thinking the solution is probably simple, but I have no clue and do not want to lose the emails in the many folders I created. I am asking for help to resolve this issue. Thanks in advance, Art

Greetings. Possibly the answer to my question will become obvious on its own, but this is currently "new." Avast has given me the pictured notification, and I am wondering if I now need to repair Thunderbird? [BTW, I have no idea when or how this thing infected my computer. My scans are always fine.]

Thanks in advance. Oh. This is 91.2.0 (32-bit) if that is a thing that matters.

Hi, Yesterday (Mar 22) AVG antivirus identified that file perfs-1.js was infected with VBS:Gamaredon-CN[Apt] and quarantined it (but it no longer exists !!). At the time, I didn't know that this file was a TB file. The next Thunderbird restart it was obvious something had happened. TB now looked just like a new installation. I needed to create my email accounts (only 3), my email composition had changed and my calendar data was missing. After some web searching, I realised that my problems all relate to the missing / deleted perfs-1.js file. To compound my problem, I do not have a backup (yes I know !!!). but even if I did AVG would most likely have just quarantined it again although I understand AVG have probably now fixed this false(?) virus problem.

My questions:- 1. Is the perfs-1.js file a deliverable product file or does it get created within the product based on customisations done? 2. My calendar data does still exist within local.sqlite so is there any way that I can get this data added into my new empty TB calendar? Thanks

I use Thunderbird as my email program on desktop. It was receiving and sending messages from both my Gmail and Yahoo email accounts, and I had set up local folders on the Yahoo account. I used the program earlier and then closed it. When I opened it again a few minutes later it opened to a Home screen that asked me to set up my account. What happened to the account(s) I was using? I looked at similar occurrences on the forum, but these seemed to deal with folders disappearing, not whole accounts. I had lots of historical emails stored by the program that I don't want to lose. I noticed under the C:....Users/{my name}/appdata/roaming/Thunderbird/profiles that there was a new profile established today, which I copied to another folder and then deleted from the location. After that, Thunderbird wouldn't open at all, saying that my profile could not be located. I tried copying the deleted profile back into the location, but that didn't seem to work (one pane shows it is there, but another doesn't), so I guess my "tinkering" has messed things up even further. Any help would be appreciated.
