QR code for mobile setup does not work with long email addresses?

Hello,

I would like to report a possible issue with the QR code used on the desktop version of Thunderbird to set up or transfer an email account to a mobile phone.

When I scan the QR code from my PC with my phone, the process fails for one specific account. This email address is quite long (36 characters), and I suspect the issue may be related to the address length.

For your information, all my other email accounts (9 in total) were transferred successfully using the QR code, and they all have shorter email addresses.

Could you please confirm whether there is a limitation on email address length for this QR code-based setup? If this is a known issue, is there a workaround or a fix planned?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards, Steve

Trouble Adding Gmail to Thunderbird – Urgent Help Needed

Hi All,

My name is Chris and I’ve been struggling for the past 3 days to add my Gmail account into Mozilla Thunderbird, and it’s become urgent. My computer often crashes and freezes, so I deleted my Gmail from an earlier version of Thunderbird and reinstalled the latest version.

When I try to add the account, Thunderbird just says “Looking up configuration of my Gmail” and never completes the setup. Oddly enough, I was able to add the same Gmail account into Outlook without any issues.

Is there something wrong with Thunderbird’s automatic server configuration for Gmail?

On top of that, I’d like to download all my past Gmail emails (sent items and inbox storage) into Thunderbird, but I don’t know the correct manual settings to use.

Any guidance on fixing the account setup and the proper manual IMAP/POP settings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Chris

I had once used my computer for my husband when his was down. Now when I'm in my computer in a web site, an example send a recipe to myself, when it comes in my email it comes from his account not mine. I've went on to his unit made sure my computer was not signed on using his account. I think it's coming thru Google but I can't figure what where & what to do about it. I attached an image showing the first account that comes up when going to google. I can go up to change the account to mine. But if I'm in site then send something it still shows his account & any response goes back to him not me. This causes much confusion as you can imagine. Is there a way to make this stop?

I keep getting this error message. I have checked all my setting but find no problem. The error/warning I get is as follows: Thunderbird, The IMAP server Kingston does not seem to support encrypted passwords. If you just set up this account, please try changing to :Normal password" as the Authentication method in the account setting... It stops there. When I send, it does not want to save to my sent file, and I get this warning all the time. I went to settings and SMTP server has "Normal password" in the settings. I have restarted several times but no luck. Ideas? Solution? Help!!

Thanks
