I'm not sure exactly when this problem started but it could have been when I had to move my primary email from Xfinity over to Yahoo. Also not sure if this started after a recent Thunderbird update. I can not send new emails nor can I forward old emails. Haven't tried reply but suspect it is the same. This is the message I get: Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Request failed; Mailbox unavailable. Please verify that your email address is correct in your account settings and try again. All settings and passwords are correct as I can receive and send from all my different accounts using browser. I can send emails from my accounts, on my iphone, though not using Thunderbird on iphone. Account settings and passwords are the same on the phone.

In that brief window, the notification system already displays the notification. I found no way of changing that behavior. Is this normal behavior? How to change it?

I have been having troubles logging in with my Microsoft email account on Thunderbird (hotmail). When I fill in the name and email address, a pop-up appears with the OAuth2 authentication but the only thing that ever appears in this pop is the message "Unable to connect" with some additional possible explanations.

I have looked online a lot for solution but nothing seems to work. I have cleared the cache, removed all mentions of the email account (it was working before until I added a passkey to the account).

Other reasons I have seen is that the request might be intercepted by certain problems like Apache or Nginx etc. I am running an instance of Nginx on my home server, which is a different device. But I have temporarily turned it completely off but it did not change the situation. The same story with and instance of PiHole, it turns on my homeserver which is a different device and also had to turned off.

The machine I am running Thunderbird on is a Windows machine. I have also tried booting into safe mode with networking but also that did not do anything.

I have tried copying the url on the top of the pop-up window and pasted into several web-browsers. There is does load and I can select the correct passkey to login. But the data that comes back from it is not being given to Thunderbird of course so it does nothing. But the fact that it is able to load outside of Thunderbird makes me think it is a problem on the side of Thunderbird.

Could you perhaps help me set up my email on Thunderbird?

Firefox on this Windows 10 computer stopped providing an email Send option about 2 weeks ago. I still receive all messages fine, but must use Firefox on an older windows 7 computer to send emails. What can I do? Other internet receive and send functions are still working. The problem is only with email.

A few weeks ago I began getting spam in my inbox from about ten senders (Omaha steaks, C0stco, Marriot, Harbor Freight, Harbor Tools, Ace, Lowes, CVS, Blue Cross) and no matter what I do, I can’t make it stop. In fact, the numbers have grown higher every day - probably now over 100. Marking them as junk doesn’t work. I have triple-checked all my settings. And setting up specific filters with these names hasn't worked. I don’t have a spam add-on but I see here in Support complaints about SpamAssassin’s ineffectiveness.

Is anyone else getting junk from these specific senders? Has anyone discovered a way to banish them?

Hi, I am hoping that the community can help me find an answer to this. I have two computers that I use for work. The one in the office has TB running all the time and before I leave for the weekend/vacation I would close TB, copy the profile folder to a USB (or copy it to cloud) and then paste the profile folder on my work laptop (at home). While all the settings get copied (local folders structure, addons etc.) as I use IMAP, it downloads all the mail on the new system regardless. I thought that it should have the latest mail downloaded as part of the profile folder, is that not the case? The bigger issue is that none of the Completed Tasks Lists, Templates, etc. get updated. It still shows all the older stuff on the work laptop and no updates carry over from the PC (at work). Going through the profile folder I see multiple copies of the files prefs.js, folderCache.json, global-messages-db.sqlite appended as: prefs-computername.js and folderCache-computername.json etc. (The computername is the name of the PC - office/laptop) The profile name is the same between the two computers. TB is only started after the profile is copied locally. TB version is the same between systems. I am left scratching my head why somethings are copied but not others. I have 2 Windows 11 laptops running Thunderbird. Retrieval of POP3 account email takes 10 times longer on Windows 11 as compared with Windows 7. I have 13 different email accounts. If there is nothing new to download, my windows 7 computer takes 5 seconds to check all account. Windows 11 takes 50 seconds for the same task... clunking along very much slower. I have tried many approaches to tracking down the cause of the slowness. Antivirus software (Norton 360) and various Thunderbird and system settings. Nothing makes any noticeable difference. I'm at a loss for what to try or even to finding anyone discussing the same issue. I have been using Thunderbird on at least 4 windows 7 pcs with no such issue. Both my windows laptops have the same clunky slowness. I want to move to windows 11, but this is holding me back. Is this just inherent to Windows 11? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

It takes about 5 seconds to check all 13 accounts if there is nothing new to download. I have two Windows 11 computers that take about 50 seconds to go through these same accounts under the same conditions (nothing new to download). I have done a lot of searching for answers, but nothing helpful has come up. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Seems like it would be a common problem as both Windows 11 computers do the same thing. Both are Windows 11 Pro. Thanks for any guidance.

I am using Windows 11 with the latest Thunderbird 151.0.1. I have been trying to add color to the column title background in the message list using the userChrome.css with the following:

  1. sizeCol {background-color: #dcfffc !important;}
  2. recipientCol {background-color: #dcfffc !important;}
  3. subjectCol {background-color: #dcfffc !important;}
  4. dateCol {background-color: #dcfffc !important;}
  1. spamCol {background-color: #dcfffc !important;}
  2. fromCol { background-color: #dcfffc  !important;}
  3. attachmentsCol { background-color: #dcfffc  !important;}

They work except the 'from', 'attachments' and 'spam' columns title backgrounds. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? Or is there a way to color all column title backgrounds in one line? Thanks

I have forwarded (from my Thunderbird account) an email from our local hospital about an appointment to my mailfence address three times now, but all three were deemed undeliverable by the mailer-Daemon. I removed all links on the third attempt in case that was the problem, but no luck.

Error code: 554 Rejected : Spam ?

I can not get my google workspace account to authorize in Thunderbird. Using IMAP setting. Thunderbird automatically finds the correct server settings, but when I hit "continue", it gives an authentication error.

I have spent extensive time with the google workspace admin console help. This is the final result: "Thank you for trying all the steps so far. Since Thunderbird has already been added under App Access Control in the Admin console, IMAP is enabled, and cookies/cache have been cleared, but the authentication error still persists, this points to a possible issue with the application’s client ID used by Thunderbird for OAuth. In this case, you will need to contact the Thunderbird support team to verify the correct client ID for their OAuth implementation. Once you have the correct client ID, we can then configure it properly in the Google Admin console so the authentication works successfully. We’ve confirmed that all Google Workspace settings on our side are correct, so the next step must be coordinated with Thunderbird’s team."

Somewhere along the line, I lost all the entries in my Thunderbird address book. I tried to import from Outlook to repopulate it. This turned into a disaster.

When I get to the point where I can select the field, the destination they are mapped to make no sense whatsoever. For example, the Middle Name maps to the Last Name field. OK. Bad guess. But then all the drop down shows as options is Last Name. I cannot map it to middle name. The address book drop down only allows you to select what it is already set to.

Company Yomi (whatever that is) is mapped to Notes. At the end of the list, the source field Notes is shown and no destination mapping is available at all, so what happens if I select it.

I had Thunderbird on my Windows 10 computer. I bought a new Windows 11 computer and downloaded Thunderbird. When I try to set up my email account, I provide my full name (not my Thunderbird user name) and email address. The next screen has the message "Configuration found in Mozilla ISPDB ". I clicked on IMAP and hit continue. The next screen I type in my password for my Spectrum mail account. I have confirmed that the password works went I log onto the Spectrum website. The next screen has the Authentication error "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.". I've also tried using my Thunderbird user name and Password instead of my full name and Spectrum password with the same results. I know my Thunderbird user name is correct but I can't be 100% sure that my Thunderbird password is correct.

I'm not sure if this matters but my email has the has the extension ----@socal.rr.com. This was assigned to me by my original email provider, which was Time Warner Cable. Spectrum bought Time Warner Cable a few years ago and I think Spectrum uses a different extension.

I’m Japanese and don’t speak English, so the English forum is difficult for me to use.

It’s a hassle to have to post on the forum like this just because I can’t easily send feedback in my local language.

I have two pieces of feedback I wanted to share this time.

1. Sometimes when I open Thunderbird, I get an error message saying it can’t load because there are too many accounts. Is this because it’s trying to check them all at once?

Please have it load them one by one in order. Or, please add an option in the settings to do this.

2. Messages marked with “Re:” are replies, right?

Let’s say my account is “Apple.” If I reply from “Apple,” a message marked “Re:” should remain in the “Apple” folder. From the recipient’s perspective, replies to emails from “Apple” should also come from “Apple.”

However, there were emails where I was recorded as having replied from a different account, even though I don’t recall switching accounts when replying.

So, from the recipient’s perspective, it looked like the email came from a stranger, and they replied asking me to identify myself.

While it’s not impossible that I might have changed the address by mistake while half-asleep, I’m reporting that there were instances where I was recorded as replying from a different address even though I don’t remember making a mistake.

アカウントがリンゴだとします。 リンゴから返信したら、リンゴの中にRe付きのものが残るはずです。 相手からしたら、リンゴから来たメールの返信もリンゴから来るはずです。

しかし、返信する時にアカウントを変えた覚えがないのに、違うアカウントから返信したことになったメールがありました。

なので、相手からしたら、知らない人からメールが来たことになり、誰だか分からないから教えてくださいと返信が来ました。

ねぼけて返信時にアドレスを変更した可能性も0ではありませんが、間違えた覚えが無いのに違うアドレスから返信したことになったものがあったことを報告しておきます。

リクエストと報告を伝えたいだけなので、返信は不要です。
