Is there any way to abbreviate the Header that is shown in Thunderbird? Mine is so long that it dominates the available real estate on my display. I do not care how much information is in the Email Header I just want a means of controlling what is displayed so I can view more of the contents and less of the meta stuff. I have worked at this before but was unable to get anywhere. Robert

   Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
   Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

every email I receive goes straight into the junk folder. this started months ago and I couldnt resolve it. even went to the trouble of uninstalling thunderbird and reinstalling but problem remains. stopped using thunderbird but decided to give it another go and still all incoming emails go to the junk folder

even when I transfer all my emails out of junk into the inbox they almost immediately go back in the junk folder. I'm guessing its a setting problem but I havent been able to fix

Not sure where this problem should be listed. Here goes. In the column that shows: inbox, sent messages, trash, etc., I have somehow lost the "sent messages" listing. It seems to have been accidentally deleted. I suspect a family member may have done this unknowingly. How can I get it back. I realize there may be no way to get past data recovered.

Hope your Holiday has gone well in the face of current circumstances.

Hello, my Thunderbird performed yesterday ,9 November 2020, an automatic update to version 78.4.0 (from 68.12.1). Since then all my emails in my inbox and archive folders have disappeared. Also the archive folders with the submap structures are gone. Very annoying. I am not so experienced in trouble shooting. I have two hotmail accounts in use. So, I check on forums for a solution and one direction was to check the profiles in the help/problem solving tab. But it showed only two profiles for main and local. I checked in the AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Mail the Archives.sbd with all the subfolders still there. Then I changed in the account settings the link in the local map to the Archives.sbd. I don't know if this is the correct method, though but now something happened: It retrieved all emails from the hotmail server (hotmail inbox and also those in the hotmail subfolders) and it constructed some archive folders and some subfolders. So I am still missing half of my archived emails and have too many emails in my inbox. How can I fix this and why didn't the Thunderbird update smoothly take over the existing map structure from the previous version? Thanks in advance for your support. Best regards, René

After Dnld TBird 78 can receive e-mails but not send ! On Spectrum IMAP with correct Server settings for Incoming and outgoing as well as PW accepted. Can send and receive when logging into my RR account online so must be an issue with TBird 78! Please respond ASAP otherwise will have to change to another E-mail client which I hate to do since I like Mozilla and Firefox etc.

I have spent three days preparing an address list for a large mailing and created it within the 'contacts' section which I was able to access from any of my accounts. I can no longer find the address list and when I call up write in any account I only get one option - Address Book. I no longer get the 'contact' list or any other address lists which were sub-folders of the 'contacts' list. They are just not showing. How can I retrieve access to these address lists. I am approaching desperation!

My issue is the lack of a heads-up from Mozilla Thunderbird about the downside to upgrading (I use the term loosely) from 68 to 78. Where was the warning that the add-ons I was using would not work (and now, months later that there are STILL NO UPDATES to v78-compatible add-ons). I was not aware that there were profile and database changes that would occur making for problems for lots of users.

The forum is full of comments about these points so I'm not going to belabor with further feedback but I would like to emphasize that Thunderbird may very well have signed it's own obsolesence warrant for failing to take its customers base real needs into account. Fortunately for me a roll-back to 68 was easy since I had just done a full image backup.

I'm not really looking for "help" or a solution to a particular problem. But, respectfully, WTH were you thinking?

Howdy. Some pages won't open, although the URL is correct. Copying that URL will usually open in Edge. Also many pictures, and/or ads won't show, just the revolving circle, or broken picture icon, but again some wil show in the Edge. But I prefer to use FF if possible. I have tried disabling things like Duck Duck Go and FF security etc, etc, but maybe there is something I'm not aware of. At least one place (AlSears) said their pic is PDF, but other PDFs open. The following URL is Auckland Motorway cameras, and many of those do not open, but show the broken pic icon, but everything is fine in The Edge. https://www.aucklandmotorways.co.nz/

Maybe there's a feature or extension to do this ? Long time Tbird user. I have hundreds of mostly defunct collected email addresses. I won't use 99% of them again, but afraid to delete in case I might need one. They overpopulate the To: field when I start entering. I have a small personal address book, but those hits often come up AFTER the old collected ones. I have to look through. I'd like to archive 99% of these some way such that they don't appear in the To: field. I actually moved the old ones to a new address book that I called "Old Collected Addresses", but that did not help.

I have inbound emails that, when I open them to read, they are blank except that there is an attachment called "attachment.html". If I open the attachment called attachment.html, I see an html page in a browser as a local page. What causes this to happen? Can I get Thunderbird to just open the content in the email rather than seeing a blank screen and having to then open the attachment?

Hello, I am running 5 different email accounts from my Thunderbird, 3 gmails, 1 school, and 1 hotmail. My primary email that I use (which is on top) is a gmail. When I receive an email to those 5 accounts, only 4 of the accounts become BLUE BOLD and also show the (#) the number of new unread email received. The problem is that my main email (which is a gmail) does not turn Blue (stays black) and does not show the (#) of new unread email.

And when I click on the account's inbox, the other 4 accounts show the new unread message as being BOLD, as it should be. However, in my main gmail account, the new unread email is NOT bolded.

So in my main gmail account, I never really know if there is a new email unless I specifically open that inbox and scroll all the way down by descending date every single time.

Is there some setting that I messed up on? I"m not sure what to do. I'm enclosing 2 jpgs for reference.

I get an error message about the outgoing mail server timing out when I try to send an email (see image). My email client says all my setting are correct, my isp says it's a problem with Thunderbird. We recently moved and had to use a new isp (Xplorenet). They suggest Thunderbird matches my email address with my ip address and if they don't match Thunderbird's records I get the default error message about the outgoing mail server timing out. How do I fix this problem so I can send emails.
