Recently the web push notifications got a popup UI that is really disturbing. Show up on all desktops etc., it interrupts me in what I’m doing. I really very strongly dislike this change.

I would like to revert to how it was before (pre-76.0 ? Not sure exactly which version): - notifications get sent to my desktop/OS’s notification center (running OpenSuse + KDE), - no popup is displayed when a notification is triggered.

That way: - notifications will respect the OS « do not disturb » mode, - notifications get shown through a unified UI for all applications, - I can pick how « interrupting » I want each notification to be, - In particular I can focus while on my computer without being interrupted, and poll the notifications occasionally.

Is there a way (maybe a about:config option) to keep notifications but disable the popup behaviour?

On the entertainment media site Buzzfeed, clicking on a post of an embedded Twitter video gives me a blank white image. No error message like "Unable to play the file". I did a clear history, cache & cookies and refreshed Firefox. I ran the apt update for Ubunto. It had been operating smoothly in the past. If I go to Twitter, it plays. It just goes blank when I click on the video embedded in the post.

Thank you for any assistance.

As long as Firefox has added the containers feature in the last updates, the actual behavior of the new tab button needs to be updated, or at least configurable. If you're in a specific container, new tab opens a no-container tab. I believe this should be the actual container of the active tab, instead of a no-container.

Currently when I click inside the Location Bar the entire string is selected/highlighted.

I don't want that, I want the old behavior where the first click positions the pointer at the place inside the string text where I clicked.

I have added these options (found in another Q):

browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll false browser.urlbar.doubleClickSelectsAll true

But they don't seem to work.

I'm using Firefox 76.0.1 on Linux, and the option to combine Search and Location bar.

I'm trying to install multiple Root CA's using Firefox policies. I have a folder with 50 Certificates and while I know I can specify them each individually using "Certificates | Install" like in the example below, I wanted to know if there was a way to point to a whole folder and install those certs since it is way less messy that way.

I know the documentation says you can specify specific paths to files like so Example:

{

 "policies": {
   "Certificates": {
     "Install": ["cert1.der", "/home/username/cert2.pem"]
   }
 }

}

But I was trying to do something like this (So far unsucessfully): "Install": ["/path/to/folder/*.crt"] or "Install": ["/path/to/folder/*"] or "Install": ["/path/to/folder/"] or "Install": ["/path/to/folder"]

I also know there are other ways to install certs to Firefox programmatically but I liked how simple the .json method was.

I've been trying to enable two-step authentication, but Firefox doesn't recognize any code provided by Google or Microsoft Authenticator. I also tried to input the code manually but the error is the same: "invalid code". And I did a search and found that other people are having the same problem.

When will this be fixed?

I just lost a website I wanted to view because Firefox did a background update and I cannot find an option where Firefox downloads the update, but gives me the choice when to install it. (I don't have the link and get buried by ads when i try to google the website.) EVERY TIME AN UPDATE HAPPENS, IT ALWAYS STRIKES AT THE WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT! (Like when I'm working from home!)

THIS IS MY and I repeat MY computer. I CHOOSE WHERE AND WHEN THINGS HAPPEN. I need to find a way to FORCE FIREFOX TO WAIT UNTIL I AM READY FOR DOING THE UPDATE!!! Automatic installing of updates IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Downloading the update is fine, but I NEED THE ABILITY TO CHOOSE WHEN IT INSTALLS THE UPDATE!!!

Mozilla, you have NO RIGHTS IN MY COMPUTER, UNLESS I GIVE THEM TO YOU. I've been using Firefox for over a decade (and Thunderbird). I really don't want to change to something new - and forget ever going back to Windows (I DESPISE MICROSOFT!). Don't go the way of Microsoft - remember, IT'S OUR COMPUTER! We need the ability to install ON OUR SCHEDULE AND DON'T TRY TO FORCE US INTO A FALSE STEREOTYPE!

System - adequate hardware running Ubuntu 18.04LTS. Firefox 75.0 64 bit.

I am writing a C program, which needs to start several firefox windows. The problem is: I need to kill them later, so I need the process id. So I started each of them (via fork and exec) with the argument "-new-instance", but get the error "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system." when a firefox process was already running (because there is just one allowed, I guess).

Is there a way to fix this problem, or at least get the pid of the process firefox connects to if i don't start it with "-new-instance"? By the way: It just has to work on one computer, so I can adjust settings etc. System: Arch Linux (Manjaro)

Thanks for your help

Firefox is my default browser in both OSs, but I will have to move to an alternate until I can get this issue resolved. Thanks.
