Ever since I moved to the beta version of Firefox 4, I have lost the ability to view .pdf files in Firefox. I was convinced this was a problem totally with Firefox, but at around the same time I upgraded from an old G4 PPC laptop to a new Macbook Pro. Now I find I can't view .pdf files in Safari either. Is this a problem with Firefox, or a problem with the way I have configured my new computer?

Closing a FF4 session with multiple tabs, I am not asked to save tabs and so they don't redisplay upon restart.

In Tools-Options-Privacy I have unchecked Remember my browsing history Clear history when Firefox closes

The other options there are checked.

In Tools-Options-Tabs I have checked Warn me when closing multiple tabs.

Are my settings incorrect? Basically I want any open tabs to be reopened across sessions, but I don't want any other history to be retained.

Saving my tabs and keeping sessions was one of my favorite things about Firefox.

As I already mentioned, I looked at the about:config stuff and everything that should be true, is true. I just don't understand why it isn't working.

How can I get that feature back?

Thanks.

I launch multiple profiles to load groups of web pages. Anywhere from 1-4 profiles in the morning (but not all at once). If one profile is completely loaded and has flash elements, when I launch the next profile that has flash based elements, the last profile launched will crash that instance of Firefox. This did not happen in Beta 11, but does happen in Beta 12 or RC1.

I am running Win7 64-bit with the latest version of Flash (10.2.152.32). 24GB of RAM, Dual Xeon's, Intel SSD.

I've tested this problem on multiple browsers (Opera, Firefox, Chrome and even IE), and Firefox is the only one I'm having problems with.

I only recently installed the 4b11 version of Firefox (After not using the browser for a while), and after an hour or so of using it, my computer was running unbearably slow. I opened the Task Manager to see the problem-- which I already suspected to be Firefox, and saw that it was taking over 800MB of my memory. I closed out of it, and used one of my other browsers without any speed problems.

Today, I decided to do some troubleshooting on it and saw that right when it opened, it was already taking 100+MB (I had three tabs opened). As soon as I opened a new tab, it shot up in an instant by 15MB. Open another tab, another 15MB. I closed one of the tabs; I saw a VERY small decrease. I closed another tab. It actually INCREASED by 1MB.

Even now, as I'm using the browser, the usage is steadily increasing without me even doing anything except typing in this support form (which is currently my only tab open). By "steadily," I mean it's increasing by another 2-4MB every minute or so.

I can't speed it up without having to close out and restart it.

At the time I'm posting this, it will have been only a half hour (within this range) after starting the browser today and it is using over 350MB of memory.

http://start.facemoods.com/results.php?f=5&a=ppcb2&q=hfcx is the new 'net error' page for all my web browsers.

The facemoods program installed itself on my computer w/o permission. I uninstalled the program, cleared all traces of facemoods that "Malewarebytes" and "Spybot - Search and Destroy" could find, and now I have a new default net error page directed to the given link above for all my browsers.

I figured uninstalling and then reinstalling would do the trick, I even upgraded to Firefox 4, and still no luck. I wonder if this is because of not deleting all the data such as passwords and bookmarks.

How can I fix this?

All of a sudden my back button will not work, I tried the logitech troubleshooting but my mouse is not one of the ones with issues. I can view the history just fine by hitting CTRL H so I know that's ok. I can't right click and choose back either...

G-mail isn't loading either so I can't get into my e-mail! I had to resort to IE (YUCK!) I also did a reboot on my PC and it still isn't working properly.

I've had this issue for awhile:

When I start up Firefox (whether it's 3.6 or 4b), old tabs reappear in the tool bar. Now, I know you're thinking, "well, change the preference or say don't save next time". Doesn't matter. These tabs are OLD, several months old, last October old. I open new tabs and save those -- these old ones still open. I close the tabs, open a new window, and save that -- the old tabs still open.

Nothing seems to matter.

I've trashed preferences. I've deleted Firefox. Reinstalled Firefox. Installed Beta 4 Firefox, still same problem.

I recently installed Firefox 4 beta 11 and now cannot access certain webpages provided by my university which are using an SSL-encryption.

The error message I receive (in a popup box) is:

evasys.urz.uni-halle.de uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

It has been a known problem that somehow Firefox does not handle the issuer chain of the certificate correctly (thats what the IT department says) and the solution up to now was to add an exception for this website in Firefox 3.x.x

This would be fine by me for Firefox 4, too, but I cannot find a way to add this exception. As soon as I dismiss the error message box by clicking "OK" nothing happens, no "This connection is untrusted"-page (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/This%20connection%20is%20untrusted#w_certificates-and-identification) is opened or anything equivalent.

Thank you in advance for any help.

When I hover over a link with a URL that is longer than what fits within the length of the status bar in Firefox 4 Beta 12, the whole page jumps back and forth until I stop hovering over the link. It was so annoying (particularly on Google search results pages with a lot of links, etc.) I actually uninstalled Firefox 4 Beta 12 and went back to the Beta 11 release.

Is there anything in about:config that would disable the status bar that the link URLs preview in, at the least?
