so, update to 138.0.4 (64-bit) resulted in deletion of both my bookmark library AND all the backups? fantastic. over a decade of important bookmarks - gone. thanks guys, you're awesome.

I am using the version 115.20.0esr (64-bit) and have noticed I have links in my bookmarks, that are either from other bookmark folders but I never copied them over, or I have new links that I never clicked to be saved? I have deleted those I found but some more keep popping up?

I seem to have accidentally set up tab-groups, on desktop. Probably I fat-fingered a shortcut to group some tabs. This is a function I'll never intentionally use — since I'd rather not cut off my fat fingers, is there a way to permanently shut off tab-groups?

Frequently (Roughly every other time at this point, it was less frequent when the problem first started) when I turn on my computer and open firefox, I end up looking at the attached image (How I have come to loathe it) and find that all of my settings have been reset to the defaults (usually, sometimes its only most of them), and all of my tabs have been closed. Most concerningly it is happening on two different devices. After I fix all my settings I have to close and reopen firefox twice (its almost always twice, if the second time doesnt do it then its about a dozen) and just clicking the X doesnt do anything at all, I have to close it with the task manager. This has been happening for a little over a month.

Facts that might matter: I am using two different windows laptop computers from different manufacturers, by default I do not log into firefox. My previously tabs are saved so I am usually able to restore them but there appears to be a limit because I often lose several. my history is still intact and websites that I am logged into usually remain logged in. my extensions are still there but logged out. I use Nord VPN I have my settings set to always ask me before applying a firefox update.

Things I have tried and still experienced this issue: Logging into different firefox accounts making sure I am logged out of firefox accounts turning off my VPN changing my VPN location browsing with the default settings restarted my computer without changing anything else (Things were still borked). waiting for the next firefox update reverting to a previous update.

Getting the XPCOM can't load message. Uninstalled everything and reloaded firefox. I could not get it to work. Seems to be a lot of misinformation on the subject (irony here). Finally loaded the latest BETA test version problem solved ... for 2 days. Got the XPCOM message again. This time I reloaded the latest BETA test version and disabled updates.
