Hello!

I tried to install Thunderbird setup 78.5.1. Setup asks to reboot the computer to complete a previous uninstall of Thunderbird , but after reboot and starting setup again, the same reboot message comes. This happens many times, reboot does not help.

I had earlier some older version of Thunderbird, but it is removed with Windows Control panel.

How can I uninstall previous version complete?`

1) how do I find my previous thread content? 2) do any replies get emailed to me? 3) The mozillazine info on data rescue seems to be out of date, and doesn't work on the current version. 4) Is there another email client that can just lift my file structures and my thousands of emails and my address books and use them? I think thunderbird is beyond rescue at this stage.

I can just copy all the emails to desktop folders, export all address books, kill and rebuild thunderbird, then manually create the files, drag all the emails back in, and re-import the address books, but if there is a quicker way, I am keen to hear of it. I can't do it right now, anyway, as I have to get some notebook maintenance/replacement done, and reload everything. at least I have most user data backed up in on-drive, including the profiles folder (via shortcut)

I tried using Thunderbird to check my Office 365 email, with the following settings

IMAP: outlook.office365.com Port: 143 SSL: STARTTLS

SMTP: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 SSL: STARTTLS

Normal Password

All the settings are retried by Thunderbird once I enter the IMAP and SMTP details.

However upon clicking done, there will be a message saying "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password"

I have verified the username and password is correct, and also IMAP enabled for this account, but keep getting password wrong message.

Firefox cannot find profile after copying from other computer

I followed the instructions on the support pages to transfer my profiles from an old W7 laptop to a new W10 one. After the copying of the profiles to the correct locations neither Firefox nor Thunderbird would start complaining that they could not find the profiles.

What I did (same thing for Thunderbird) 1. Opened Firefox troubleshooting on the old W7 laptop, opened the profile folder. 2. Closed Firefox 3. moved two levels up 4. copied the Profiles folder to a usb drive.

On new W 10 laptop 1. Opened Firefox troubleshooting on new W10 laptop, opened the profile folder. 2. Closed Firefox 3. moved two levels up 4. renamed the existing Profiles folder to Profiles OLD 5. copied the Profiles folder from the usb to the same correct location on the new laptop

When I tried opening Firefox on the new laptop it would not open complaining that it could not find the profile. Firefox had opened correctly previously.

Then when I renamed the moved Profiles folder to Profiles NEW and renamed Profiles OLD to Profiles, Firefox opened normally on the new laptop.

Identical procedure and result with the Thunderbird profile transfer.

What should I do?

My old mail account is POP3 only. Incoming, POP3, mail.tpg.com.au, 110, STARTTLS, Normal Password Outgoing SMTP, smtp.tpg.com.au, 587, STARTTLS, Normal Password After many attempts Thunderbird 78 failed to add this new account.

After removing ver.78 an old ver.68 was installed and the new account was added without any problems on the first try using the settings shown above.

Does this indicate that Thunderbird v.78 is no longer compatible as a POP3 client or is this a serious bug?

Today I did the update for Firefox om my android smartphone (with Google Play store) and Eset mobile security gave the message that Android/TrojanDropper.Agent.GRV was found in the update. I deleted the app and whe I wanted to install it again after a new download, the same message came. I don't know what to do next (fot now I just deleted the app again) and am wondering if this issue is know to you.

Thunderbird quit receiving emails, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird. After the new Thunderbird install, it will not allow me to setup a new email account. After config, it gives me a "cannot find email info on server", and doesn't allow me to setup the email account. I can "force" a setup by clicking on the Advanced Config button, but that email setup will only send emails, and not receive email, or setup any more Folders beyond the Inbox folder.

Suddenly Firefox updated on my Android phone and now none of my addons work, including my password manager and cookie manager. When I open the support link it opens to Firefox for Android beta Solutions. Addons are one of my main reason for using Firefox. Every article I've seen says there is no way to downgrade. If that's true I'll be switching to another browser that supports Chrome extensions, whether this version (79.0.4 (Build #2015757667)) is actually beta or not. Forced, irreversible updates with no warning that break critical functions. This is why I don't like the whole app store system, and again if true, this is totally inexcusable. I know this free software is a labor of love on the part of the developers, but I don't think I can deal with this update. A bunch of patronizing articles explaning why "we know what's best" is no better than Google or Microsoft. Anyway this was a major inconvenience coming without even a warning.

Just upgraded to ver 78 (78.4.0) on two systems. Each uses pop3 to collect mail from a gmail account and from a private server account -- different users on the two systems, but otherwise same setup. Same Account settings except for user names on the various accounts.

One system works perfectly. The other hangs when trying to collect mail, with the statusbar message "xxxx.gmail.com Connected to pop.gmail.com..." No error messages, no green status bar.

Clicking Get Messages refreshes same statusbar message instantly.

Similar message when trying to fetch from the private server.

Closed and re-opened T-bird with same result. Re-booted system and open T-bird with same result.

Any suggestions?
