hi today thunderbird started showing yahoo popup login and after adding credentials i always get "something went wrong.We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device." Also popup once closed it opens instantly.

i can sign in normally from browser. thunderbird version is 147

is there any fix about this?

When I tried to login I see this information:

An error occurred.

We couldn't log you in. Please try again from a different device.

This is very strange, because I tried it on another PC and this is the same. It looks that yahoo even didn't try to check password, because this is not matter if I wrote correct password or different - I see the same information.

Please help. I have two yahoo mail account and this is the same.

Both accounts works well on another e-mail client and I can access to my account without any problem by browser. This is only thunderbird problem.

I just installed Thunderbird and wanted to use it for my old gmail and my current icloud emails, however, while the gmail one logs in fine, each time I try to log in with my icloud email with the correct password it says "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration username or password.". Am I doing something wrong?

I'm not able to log into yahoo e-mail via Linux Firefox (145.0 (64-Bit)): The error message is "We were unable to log you in. Please try again from another device." I can log in with Chrome (Linux and Windows) and Firefox (Windows). My issue is to switch from POP3 to IMAP in Thunderbird. There the same error message occurs.

Okay, I am trying to set up Thunderbird for my wife's service club's email (gmail account). It just will NOT recognize the password during the account setup. Everything goes along fine until the available configurations come up and I hit "Done" (same for either configuration + trying to use the "manual" function).

Pop up window opens that says "enter credentials" in the header, but page is blank. Alternately, if I exit setup but stay in program and then use the "new account" option, no pop up, but same as with popup, I get "Checking password" for an extended time and then error message about user name or password. I have verified we have the correct password by logging into gmail directly using it.

I am totally stumped here. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 running Win11 and Tbird version is140.4.0esr (64 bit)

Hi Thunderbird,

Windows would not let me keep any apps when I upgraded to Windows 11 so I am having to set up Thunderbird again. But I also had to sign into my Yahoo account again - and had to change the password. Now Thunderbird can find my address (<redacted>@yahoo.com) but it cannot verify the password.

I had an email I had to send today so had to download Outlook - against all my principles! Please, please, find a way I can get back to Thunderbird and expunge Outlook! I donate every month and have done for years. . .

I cannot seem to sign in or submit my password. I usually get around 15 emails of a Sunday morning from my family in another state. I cannot seem to receive emails and thus not be able to reply. Please may I have some assistance. I am in my late seventies and very self taught. Of course as a result when anything goes wrong, I am not sure how to get through this.

I have four accounts in Thunderbird. One of them has been inactive for a long time, but I keep it for old messages. I disabled automatic account checking in the configuration and everything was fine. I recently updated my system to Fedora 41 and now have the newer Thunderbird 140.3.0esr. The problem is that now, immediately after startup and then about every 15 minutes, a Google API login window pops up, as shown in the picture. How can I effectively block this?

Installed on android phone, imported account configurations using the the bar code method. Gmail accounts all good, but Microsoft accounts all fail. Multiple reinstallations have the same outcome.

The failure occurs at Passkey generation all with the same message "We're unable to complete your request server_error: The contextID supplied in the request did not have a matching cookie" or "Something went wrong trying to create a passkey. Please try again." It uses Brave Browser when doing this.

Any ideas on how to progress?

In a moment of stupidity while updating Thunderbird to the new one, I clicked the wrong button. Everything looked OK and after checking it, I let my IOBit Uninstaller get rid of excess files. It got rid of all of them. I may still be able to get them back, however in the setup your existing email, it won't log in. It finds the configuration, income and outgoing and username. But then comes back with the ERROR Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, user name or password. I only have one account and it is also loaded on my laptop. However, that doesn't help me much as I hadn't used the laptop for months until this happened. Why won't it log in? Looks the same as the laptop in settings. My restore points don't work. It has not been my day.

So, how do I get it to log in? I really need that email back. Thanks Tori (who will back and save on a stick forever now)

Dear Thunderbird support team, I am for a few days unable to log into my account, because the program doesn´t recognize the password I set for the imap.wolrdserver.net. It shows the message in attachment. I changed the password for my account and the imap.worldserver.net with my email provider, however it did not work.

Wo finde ich dieses Passwort? Sonst kann ich Thunderbird nicht benutzen.
