I have an event yesterday with a notification on Google calendar.

I start up email today. Notification pops up. I cannot dismiss the notification.

I edit the event to remove the notification. On Thunderbird - but it won't save. So I go to Google calendar and remove the notification.

On Google calendar, it says I have no notification for this event. On Thunderbird it will NOT let me remove the notification.

Now every time i open thunderbird, the notification pops up. Short of deleting the event (which I do not want to do because I want a record of it on my calendar), there is NO way to make this stop.

I have had this problem pop up periodically for the last 18 months. (Unfortunately, it's getting bad enough with no fix I will need to find a different email/calendar application).

Any ideas how to fix? (Can we get the bug fixed in the code?)

This is a strange issue. I've been using Thunderbird for over 15 years, and today, while working with a client, I attempted to click "New Event," but it was greyed out. After ending the call, I started troubleshooting.

Steps I’ve Taken:

  • Re-added all existing accounts—no change.
  • Tried adding a fresh calendar—received a strange error (which I didn’t copy) about encryption or a "request missing required authentication credential."
  • Uninstalled Provider for Google Calendar and removed all accounts.
  • Same authentication error—Google sign-in system wouldn't appear.
  • Searched Google for recent similar issues—nothing in the past 30 days, nothing within the past year.
  • Restarted my computer.
  • Was able to re-add all accounts, but nothing is syncing.
  • At this point, I’m completely baffled. No system changes have been made. I'm running Windows 10 with the latest version of Thunderbird and its extensions. My system clock and timezone are correct.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have followed the help article describing how to add my Google calendar to Thunderbird, but the process stalls at the first hurdle. I have synced my calendar in Google, but when I get to the screen asking for my username and the location, I can't find what to put in the location. I have tried the basic Google address, and I have tried the Google calendar address https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ - but whatever I try, Google comes up with "400. That's an error. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That's all we know."

I'm hoping that someone on the forum will know rather more, please.

I've tried to confirgure my Gmail account to Thunderbird multiple times recently, but not successfully getting it figured out. I'm always given a 400 error message and I can't figure out the root cause. I've updated and redownloaded TB and reset my Gmail password.

I've included screenshots to verify what I've got currently setup in TB and my Gmail settings. Anyone have this problem or have the solution? I have 3 other mail accounts that are not hosted by Google that work fine.

First of all, why are there two Other Bookmarks folders? When I add a new bookmark, my routine is to open Manage Bookmarks, drag the new bookmark to the second (lower) Other bookmarks folder, then choose Sort > Sort by Name. I have also tried A > Z Sort Order. The sorts work within the Manage Bookmarks window, but they are not saved automatically, and I do not see a way to save them manually. Also, if I go to the Other Bookmarks folder on the far right side of the Bookmarks Toolbar, I have to scroll down to the bottom of the list to see my new bookmarks. They are not in ascending alphabetical order the way I want them.

I am preparing for a transit from MS and Outlook to Linux and Thunderbird. My outlook is set up in a way that all pop-3 accounts are in one PST file. I have almost no experience with Thunderbird, though I have set up Thunderbird on a test laptop and created one account as IMAP to test. this works nicely. I want to cancel my MS office subscription to not being forced into windows 11 in 2025! Office libre does the rest of the office app job.

BUT Outlook seems a different beast. Now, for the transition form Outlook to Thunderbird I will need to move over all PST files (the current one and all archives):

How can I import a PST file (which contains data of several e-mail accounts) into Thunderbird.

Does that work at all? If so, (I hope) how do I need to set up Thunderbird with all the accounts which are in the PST? What are the pitfalls? Should I use an automated (software solution) to be on the safe side or just not to not screw up?

Thanks a million for your tips and help

I have email through AT&T, hosted by Yahoo, and have synched my calendar for years. It has now stopped enabling and updating. In calendar screen, grey ENABLE button now shows. Click it and I see a quick flash of items and instantly disappear. Nothing happens.

Select properties and the enable box is not checked. I can check it, click OK and again it won't enable. On my to do lists for this account, same issue. Click enable, it flashes the items and then they disappear. Won't stay enabled.

Contacts still sync so appears to be a caldav issue.

Was working fine, but stopped a few weeks ago. I can't find a solution. Help please.

Hello, Sorry to disturb but its been two days and I am unable to access my Google accounts (work and private) through Firefox in anyway. I have done all the basic fixes I can think of but with no success. I have deleted caches, checked plug ins, rebooted Firefox went through the trouble shooting mode, followed advice in the community forum, tried logging in from Google linked accounts. Spoke to our internal IT support at work but nothing has solved the issue as yet, spoke to Google support.

My assumption is that it has to be the browser as I am able to log into google with another browser but Firefox is my preferred browser and would like to use it again as such.

Please advise.

Thank you Cait

Considering so many companies have adopted Microsoft Exchange/Outlook365 and their IT departments have locked out other communication protocols, are there any plans to address this in Thunderbird? Right now a lot of us can't use it because of this limitation. The only solutions so far appear to be Owl (for purchase) or DavMail (which requires a separate OpenJDK 8 installation). This is a fundamental need in Thunderbird rather than a third party add-on. I like the look of Thunderbird but, alas, am not able to use it.

When I set up my Thunderbird Mail I had intended it to serve 6 email addresses. I then scrapped my intentions to use three of those, and they no longer show up in my available emails. However, the program keeps asking for the access passwords for all three and it's a continual nuisance being interrupted all day long - BUT I can't find ay trace of them in Thunderbird to be able to block them. I use the other 3 on a frequent basis but they are the only email addresses i can now see in my account. How can I find access to the other 3 to delete all trace of them?? Yours hopefully John Reed

Hello,

My firefox account is in the region of France and the language is French. Yet I have never been to France or speak French. When I created my account I created it in English as French is not my language. When I first downloaded firefox I naturally downloaded the English version and but as soon as I logged into my account everything changed to French. My search results are in French, the websites presented to me in French. I have changed the language settings to English, I have also changed my profile to Canada and Language as English yet my account is still in the French region and the language French. I would like my region to be changed to Canada and my default language to be English. Please look at the attached screen shot. The system language of my computer is also English.

Thanks, Ruptanu.
