Steps to reproduce:

1. Using Betterbird/Thunderbird 128.9.2esr-bb25 (64-bit), navigate to "Address Book"

2. Using "Address Book" "List display options". Type in any phone number

3. No result are display. This is the challenge. The needed end result is to search all Phone Number field for all contacts. Including any additional "Phone Number" field per contact if any. For example, but not limited to, "Phone Number 1", "Phone Number 2", "Fax Number", etc.


Using this on device 1:

• Betterbird/Thunderbird 128.9.2esr-bb25 (64-bit) from Arch Linux repository

• Arch Linux latest version

• KDE Plasma latest version


Using this on device 2:

• Betterbird/Thunderbird 128.9.2esr-bb25 (64-bit) from https://flathub.org/apps/eu.betterbird.Betterbird

• Debian Bookworm 12

• GNOME 43.9


What I tried that did not work:

• Add-on "Contact Tabs" does not support Betterbird/Thunderbird 128 at https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/contact-tabs/

Years ago I created a local folder D:\mail for old mails nice to have, but not needed on the server. It works very well. But it seems that it is no longer possible to create a folder like that, separate from the rest. It seems that a new folder should either be created under the general mail account or under Local folders. So is this type a left over thing, no longer possible, but for a while maintained for compatibility?

My issue : I think my emails have been deleted. Its something like 500mb of content.

I'm on Windows 10; on 128.9.2esr version for Thunderbird.

You see how the path is structured: account@mail.com/inbox/... I moved my mails folders into the folder account@mail.com (instead of account@mail.com/inbox/) Closed thunderbird Restarted thunderbird

All folders at account@mail.com/ disappeared.

I tried to find them. I created a folder named "TestAccountFindThunderbird" I moved account@mail.com/inbox/TestAccountFindThunderbird into account@mail.com/TestAccountFindThunderbird Closed thunderbird Restarted thunderbird "TestAccountFindThunderbird" disappeared as well

and making a research on C:\ drive I managed to find TestAccountFindThunderbird.msf inside the folder at C:\Users\<my_account>\AppData\Local\Temp\MozillaMailnews

At the same place I found also the other things that disappeared from my mail account Health.msf, Apple.msf, Work.msf, Insurances.msf, Bank.msf, ... But they are all .msf files...

I saved them into a backup folder. Then I copy pasted all that content from backup to INBOX.sbd but when I open Thunderbird in a blink they are all removed. I guess its because they are .msf and not actual content.

1) Why when I move a mail folder into account@mail.com/ then the folder disappears/is deleted? 2) Where are my emails? And how do I reimport them? 3) Why do I have traces of them into AppData\Local\Temp\MozillaMailnews?

I have about 30 messages in my Thunderbird inbox, but when I backup my profile it backs up some 700 messages, most of which were deleted long ago. Clearly deleting them doesn't actually delete them at all. How do I solve this please? Any ideas?

I've just upgraded to Tbird 102.15.1 and I've noticed that PDF attachments now open in a new tab (ie, in the same way that a new email would open in a new tab). Previously, they opened separately in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Is this a new Tbird feature? Can it be turned off (ie, revert to the previous method) and , if so, how?

Appreciate any help to understand this.

Hello

I downloaded mails from my imap server to desktop and deleted them from the server. To see them when I am not at home I wanted to import them in the TB app.

I installed the app, used the QR code from TB desktop to import the data and inserted my password. After importing I only see mails from my imap server but no mails which are only stored in the TB desktop.

Why? Is there a way to import these mails in the app too?

I removed an account from thunderbird and deleted the corresponding outgoing server from the outgoing servers, but every time I open thunderbird, the software still asks me to enter the account's password in order to connect to the account, what can I do?

1st I am 90 yrs old. Been using this app since it was created. Never a problem until these new updates.

Was trying to delete old file (like the old program (block and hit delete). Found some message about deleting Trash folder and things I did not and do not understand. I now have LOST all my data, emails, addresses, everything.

I tried deleting the program and downloading a new copy. Did not work.

App Will not let me create an account. It keeps searching forever and have to cancel. App can't find my google password and just locks up. I only have two gmail addresses. I can access them by going to gmail.com but all my folders are not there. I need HELP please.

I can't even update my address file at the gmail site as I have no access to anything from TB. I am a research genealogist and now have lost all my saved research information.

I Have Thunderbird 137.0.2 running on Win11

When saving an attachment and navigating to target folder for save, no files in the target folder on the local PC are displayed.

This is not the case when looking for an attachment to send, only when saving attachment. I have another instance of a slightly older release of Thunderbird on a Win10 PC that behaves the same. Anu Ideas?

After a recent update to Thunderbird 128.9.2esr on April 17, 2025, I am unable to login to my gmail accounts through Thunderbird. Login to server pop.googlemail.com with user name *********** failed

I can login to my email accounts fine using gmail but not with Thunderbird. I have tried a number of fixes I found on the internet at the link below but nothing seems to be solving the problem.

Thunderbird 128.9.1esr (64-bit) [Linux Mint] retrieves messages from my 4 email accounts (2x gMail & 2x Yahoo-based). It then displays each email retrieved TWICE. In the past, Left-Clicking on Unified Inbox | Properties then the [Update] button would "single-up" the list into a 1-for-1 relationship. I then sort my mail MANUALLY into local folders or delete unwanted in order to keep my inbox "zero'd".

After my recent Linux Mint 22.1 update, this no longer works and I need to close and re-open Thunderbird to get any "ghost" messages that I haven't sorted or deleted to disappear.

I am sure that I have something configured incorrectly but I can't seem to find it. None of the 4 accounts is "aware of" or forwarding to or retrieving from any of the others - they are totally independent. Yet I get duplicated emails from all 4. Using Browser-based mail client, none of them have duplicated stuff anywhere that I can find.

What documentation should I provide? Thanks.
