When I looked at my profile I find that there are several folders created for each of my email addresses at different times. I had wondered about the possibility of clean install of each of the accounts (IMAP) so this would pickup everything from the individual servers. Then copying across the local folders and my address book. Is this possible/feasible? Would it just be easier to import everything? Where is the address book stored. I also have TB backed up on an external drive (insurance). Thanks

I have two questions.

1) I have several email accounts, on various domains with various hosts, that I want to access with Thunderbird. I've installed the first one okay. But when I go to add another - Tools / Account Settings / Account Actions / Add Mail Account - it goes to a tab "Account Setup" showing the settings for the first account. I don't want to overwrite those settings, replacing the first account with the second. I want to add an account, not change the account. How do I do that?

(If I'm just supposed to change the settings that are already filled in for the first account, the interface is extremely confusing. For that matter, the expression "existing email address" is confusing - at first I thought it meant an address already added to Thunderbird, rather than an address hosted elsewhere - these things should be changed.)

2) In some cases I have multiple addresses at the same domain, and I'm using Windows 10. The following exchange is from 7 and 5 months ago. Has the issue been resolved?

Thank you.

When I upgraded from MacOS Ventura to MacOS Sonoma, Thunderbird stopped working. Getting it to work the first time required me to use Apple's 2 Step Verification process to create an app-specific password. After the MacOS upgrade, that process was no longer available. Apple switched to 2 Factor Authentication, which is apparently different and incompatible with 2sv. The other websites and applications on my iMac have already switched to 2fa, and I'm not sure I can have both methods active on the same computer (but I've asked, Apple, anyway).

Is there a recent change in Thunderbird that would allow me to use 2fa instead of 2sv to access Thunderbird?

I have many years worth of emails in Thunderbird that I can no longer access. I can see the directory structure, and some of the email lists, but not the content.

Thanks for the help!

I have used Thunderbird for years. I recently updated to version 115. I prefer the previous version. In 115, I cannot zoom a page simply with ctrl-+ without first going to the view menu. My two Outlook inboxes are sorted at the bottom of my list of favorites and they cannot be moved up with my other inboxes. I had no problems with the previous version. How can I get and reinstall that version?

Thunderbird stopped sending and receiving emails. I installed a new copy of thunderbird on another computer. After some time I was able to get it functional there. I would now like to have the same mail folder structure on the new machine as the old and import all my old information. I have exported the contents of the old Thunderbird profile to a usb drive. There are a large number of files and folder - 167 to be exact. The path the to the profile folder on my old computer was ....AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\t3ozjfx.default. This is the 'Local directory' in the Server Settings on the old computer. The path to Profile folder on the new installation is also ...AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\ but then there are two profile type files. One called t3ozjfx.default as before and another called test.default. The 'Local directory' in the Server Settings on the new computer is .....AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\t3ozjfjx.default\ImapMail\mail.cts.com-1.au It took me a great deal of effort to get emails sending and receiving properly on the new machine. It should have been just a matter of having the correct port addresses, server name, and encription method. However one had to fiddle with the local directory path to get operational

My question is given the above should I be able to get my old email file structure and the contents of those files onto the new computer by using the import facility in thunderbird. I would also like have the 'sent' messages on the old computer on the new computer. Will the thunderbird import operation be able to do this using the profile file information I put on the usb memory.

I hope I have not been too tedious in asking this question. It would be an immense relief if I could get Thunderbird on my new computer to have all the contents and folder structure that I had on the old computer.

sincerely yours

I am trying to import the messages from a Thunderbird 102 profile into 115. The profile includes one gmail POP account. Importing the profile gets all the messages in Local Folders, but none of the ones associated with the POP account (Inbox/Sent/Drafts/Junk/Trash). I lost my windows 7 and am installing windows 10 on a new computer and moving from Outlook to Thunderbird I have installed Thunderbird. Outlook won't start but I found the PST file. I used SysInfo PST Converter to convert my PST file to MBOX format. But Thunderbird won't accept it; says I should check the error console. After I finally found the error console I did not understand one word it said. My impression is that Thunderbird import looks for a file or a folder. SysInfo Converter gave me a "Outlook 0" folder which had and an empty MBX file and a sub folder called Top of Personal Folders which contained a Contacts, Deleted Items, Inbox, and Sent Items folders, and each of those has sub folders and/or MBX files. All of these were in a folder that I chose and named Thunderbird. Anybody know how I can import my converted PST file into Thunderbird?

Thanks a ton.

As of the newest TB version out July 31, 2023, I cannot send outgoing emails. Never had this problem with TB. After years of happily using TB and loving its wonderful functions and features, this inability to send outgoing emails is a mystery. Tried just about everything, but can find no fix. Tried to find a Mozilla-authorized earlier version to replace the newest version but could not find one on a Mozilla-authorized site to download.

Worked with 7 computer techs from the company from which I bought my new Win 11 computer this year--they couldn't find a fix. Worked with 5 techs from my Internet provider but not one of them could fix the outgoing email problem. Uninstalled, re-installed, repeated, checked all settings, stopped security software--nothing fixes the problem. My Spectrum webmail still brings in my incoming and sends out my outgoing emails but TB does not send the outgoing. I can only conclude the problem is the newest version of TB. Am I right? Is a fix on the way?

Who has run into this problem and how have you fixed it? Already spent 2 1/2 days working on this and not even the "computer experts" have a clue. Any TB heroes out there who can come to the rescue? Or should I wait a few weeks until this glitch in the newest version is fixed? Thanks in advance. I'm lost without my wonderful TB!

I suffered a catastrophic crash and had to replace my computer, a mac. I replaced it with another mac.

Because the older one will not boot up, I could not migrate my firefox data.

I ended up doing 'lost password' for all my sites.

There are a couple where the lost password thing hasn't worked.

It occurred to me to rename the (new computer's) logins.json file, copy the old computer's logins.json file from my external backup drive, put it in new computer's /user/library/application support/firefox, and then look in preferences, get the two passwords I want, set things back, enter these passwords into firefox again.

This did not work. In fact, now no matter which file is named logins.json, preferences says I have NO passwords stored.

I cannot find anything that tells me how to just decrypt the .json files (at least, not in a step-by-step way that I can use.)

Since about two months ago, I haven't been able to update Firefox(or any other browser for that matter). I've tried the typical method of going to Preferences, checking for updates, but I can't get passed that point. I get this error message stating "Failed to check for updates."

Chrome was giving me much of the same issue, I've allowed GoogleUpdate on my firewall rules, restarted the PC and tried again. Still got the same error message. I have no other antivirus software installed on this device other than the Windows Defender default app. Firefox hasn't told what I should be allowing past my firewall so I haven't tried anything similar for Firefox.

I also tried uninstalling Firefox, but when I tried to reinstall, I couldn't finish that process because clicking on Download Now led me to this error message stating "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.

We can’t connect to the server at download.mozilla.org."

I assumed this was maybe a DNS issue. I tried a DNS flush but that also was ineffective. I tried changing my DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.2, also tried other known DNS servers but that didn't work either.

In the meantime, I'd like to at least get an offline installer going because my current version is 110.0.1.

Thank you.
