Win 11 Home (lastest updates, also my notebook's latest updates from the manufacturer) Thunderbird version 151.0

Okay, this is a multiple clusterf#@$.

I ended up needing to do a Win 11 Home "reset" keeping data. But I needed to back up some files first. But my back up drive was full. Usually, it's because of EaseUs ToDo not deleting files and just adding and adding to the system backup. But that wasn't the main issue: my Thunderbird profile (which I backup separately) was about 280 GIGABYTES in size! This is an extension of a prior problem for which nobody on here new how to solve and certainly nobody from Mozilla chimed in to help. So I did what I'd done before (but it'd never been like this) and delected a couple of THOUSAND seemingly redundant iterations of files from my profile, but NONE of the folders inside the profile.

Of course the Win11 reset deleted Thunderbird and all the profile information. No big problem, I've done this before...but it didn't work copying in all of the old files (from my backup drive) into a new profile and selecting that profile to boot. So, I went to the "Recycle Bin", undeleted all of those files back into my backed-up profile. But I'm only able to get Thunderbird to see all of my address book information. It is not finding my Thunderbird and email account settings nor my email messages (21 years worth). I 100% did NOT delete my email messages (c:\users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\PROFILENAME\Mail).

I can laboriously redo my email account information (five different accounts) and Thunderbird user settings, but I really DESPERATELY NEED HELP restoring my email messages.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!

Recently I posted about this problem here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1580858 In sum, I was having problems both in downloading messages from the Spectrum server and also with sending messages. I've attached screenshots of the error messages.

Matt and David kindly posted some helpful responses. The problem then seemed to spontaneously solve itself and I breathed a sigh of relief. Then a few days later it re-appeared.

This time it's not quite as bad in that I'll get the error messages but then usually a few minutes later I can download the messages or send an email. But it's still a real problem.

I called Spectrum again and this time the rep was adamant that if I can still use the Spectrum webmail feature (and I can), then it's not a Spectrum issue.

Last time Matt asked about my antivirus. I use Windows Defender (and occasionally do a manual scan with Malwarebytes free version), so if I understood him right, I should be OK as far as antivirus interference.

Matt also suggested I set TB so that I download messages at startup and every 15 minutes. I was set to every 10 minutes so I changed it to 15.

Matt said for me to check the Activity Manager. I've attached a screenshot of what that showed a few minutes ago. But I should note that this was after an error message displayed but my email downloaded anyway.

Finally, Matt said I should check the Error Console (Control + Shift +J). I've attached a screenshot of that. He also said I should use the trash can to clear it, so I did. He then said to press Shift + F5 to attempt to get my messages. But on my laptop, F5 just dims the display so no dice on that. But I have a second laptop and F5 is "neutral" on that one so I tried it there. I didn't get any new error message.

However, one of the screwy things is that sometimes I get all my messages as normal, but only after the "Can't connect to the server" message displays. And that's what happened with my second laptop above.

I hope I've provided better info. this time. And I hope you gents can help me with this mess.

We have a intranet site that works in Edge and Chrome without issues with the site added to "internet options". But for some reason we are getting 401 Unauthorized when trying to access it from Firefox. I have tried adding the urls to: network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies: true network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-non-fqdn: true network.auth.force-generic-ntlm: false network.auth.force-generic-ntlm-v1: false

Ingocnito mode , same error. I have tried disabling all plugins. Disabled DNS over HTTPS.

when i use Chrome or edge to access yahoo email I can write & edit. when using Firefox browser; I cannot write & edit/highlight/change text colours etc before sending. tried deleteing & re-installing Firefox . please help. Driving me crazy rsvp

The server not found response started right after two changes: 1) Firefox last update 2) opening an account with Mozilla. It usually works on second request but occasionally not. Thanks for your help in advance.

Running Windows 11. Firefox was running at the time the hard drive crashed. When installing FF on the new drive, found the last profile folder set to parent.lock. Since it's the entire folder, I can't see which of the files in the profile were locked. I have a backup of two weeks prior (separate issue -- I was unaware my nightly backups weren't working for two weeks), but I'd like to recover the bookmark and password changes in that time.

Is there a way to get into the folder, or do I just need to accept the loss and go with the previous backup?

I have tested this a couple dozen times over a few days . When I use the Proton VPN extension in Firefox it is broadcasting in plain text( sni= plain text ) .Using Firefox without the vpn extension broadcast is encrypted . When I use the Proton VPN app sni=encrypted every single time . Why ?

I was creating two-factor authentication for my account and when I tried to create a passkey the only options were to use iPhone, iPad, or Android device, or Security key (see screenshot).

There's no option to add the passkey to a password manager (I'm using BitWarden).

When attempting to download extensions on the addons.mozilla.org site, I am continually met with a "An Unexpected Error Occurred." Sometimes clearing cookies fixes the issue, although sometimes I have to clear cookies and restart the browser. This is an issue that has persisted despite changing profiles - even when creating brand new ones to check.

I am stumped because every other mozilla page seems to work fine and about:addons seems to work fine until I try to download one of the recommended extensions there. It then throws the same error, or my inputs just don't work. When I try to open an addons' page in a new tab it just doesn't load. The site will not load in Troubleshoot mode either.

My extensions seem to be working fine! Thus I am really stumped and cannot figure out the issue. I have tried turning my VPN (Proton) off, but that has not seemed to have an effect on the issue. I perused the form but didn't see anything immediately that seemed similar to my issue. Can anyone help?

I'm using Firefox since 2013. Whenever I reset windows I always keep a copy of my profile folder. You can check the attachment. There is 83 copies of backup.

I continuously have a problem trying to get the location scroll bar to execute when I bookmark an item. It never scrolls twice consecutively, and I have to keep opening and closing the scroll to get it to function properly. I bookmark several news articles, stories, etc. every day, and I get kinda snarly after awhile. Any relevant help would be welcome and appreciated. Thanks.

no matter what location I pick the built in VPN picks the fastest/closest location, it happens both on my desktop PC and laptop. restarting pc/browser, and turning vpn off n on dont work either

It's great there is finally a way to change keyboard shortcuts. However, I cannot find a way to change the keyboard shortcuts for previous and next tabs. Ctrl+tab and ctrl+shift+tab are not very comfortable positions. I would much rather have it something like ctrl+alt+left or right.

Is this something I will be able to do soon? or maybe the setting is there and I am just being blind?

Hello, apologies if I've chosen the wrong topic area but the options felt a little ambiguous for my issue.

I had a pop-up on my Firefox today inviting me to sign up for the free 50gb VPN thing, it brought me to the accounts.firefox.com page which says "Activate Firefox’s built-in VPN for extra privacy", I press the blue 'Continue' button and absolutely nothing happens. I tried disabling all my extensions just in case one of them is causing an issue, but no success there either.

Is this a known issue, in which case I'll try again later when it's sorted; or is there another way I can redeem the offer?

I purchased a new computer and I saved all my bookmarks from my old computer, as directed in the instructions into a html file and put it on a flash drive. When I go thru the suggested process to import these files from the flash drive, they do not go into the main 'bookmarks toolbar folder in the bookmarks drop down, they install as a separate file in the last section at the bottom as a separate file. Every time I attempt to import the html file of old bookmarks, it goes in the 4th section of the bookmarks drop down as a new folder called ' bookmarks toolbar'. Example: if I import the html file 10 times I then have 10 new 'bookmarks toolbar' folders in the 4th section. As I had before... for several years... I want all my book marks in the drop down tab in the 3rd section (see attachment) 'bookmarks toolbar' which sits just above the 'other bookmarks' file... not in a folder below in the 4th section. Help...

When searching for any type of URL or page on Firefox, unexpected things have been occurring. The most common action is that the Recent Browsing page opens up instead of the page I was seeking. I can get to that page by clicking the tab, but it obviously should not be happening. Sometimes, I only see a completely blank page in white or gray. Again, I can get to the page by clicking the tab. A momentary blink occurs regularly when going to a new page.

I have cleaned up any unused or unimportant extensions and add-ons, since that was suggested as one cause. So far I have not taken a suggestion to clear all cookies and cache because of all the beneficial browsing that deletes. I have also not totally deleted the Firefox app because I am not sure a reinstall of all of my bookmarks, the homescreen with my 32 preset URLs, etc. will come back.

So I am looking for advice on what steps I should take to resolve this, in order of first taking the least destructive and problematic actions. Thanks, Joe

Please create a new version of the browser app that supports the ability to use FileSystemAPI on directories, this is essential for working with a BeatBuddy project and SD cards that are saved on my computer using the online editor. Chrome already does this.
