The Thunderbird password I've used for YEARS (and is stored in "Saved Passwords") no longer works. I have two laptops with the same password, and they both ceased (on the same day) allowing downloads (or sending) of emails. This occurs on both my laptops -- one has TB version 115.10.1 w/ Windows 10, and the other has 140.5.0esr w/ Windows 11. It also occurs on my iPhone when trying to access the mail server.

Could the problem be the mail server itself?

Please Advise

I've been using Thunderbird on a Windows machine for years. I now have an iMac and recently downloaded Thunderbird to start transitioning over. When I try to set up an existing Email address, the configuration is found in the Mozilla ISP database. After I enter the password though (mobile.charter.net), I get an error stating "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password". The password is correct and works on the Thunderbird version on the Windows machine. I have multiple Email addresses and I get the same error on all with verified correct passwords. Any help to correctly install would be greatly appreciated!

Today I agreed to the update of Thunderbird. After the update all my data have been distroyed - no calender data have been shown nor my previouse emails nor my structure of emails worked as ususal. I safed a backup file (zif) from another PC to an external drive. Now it is not possible to import this file because the zip is to big and I get the order to unzip first. I have been unable to receive or send emails via Thunderbird for months. This began when frontier sold their email service to YAHOO, which refuses to recognize my password for downloading to T-bird or for sending.

Tell me, in detail, how to make any required changes that will allow me to use Thunderbird again for all of my emails. Also, if you can tell me why this happened, I'd appreciate it. I do not think YAHOO (great name for it) should have the right to do this. I prefer T-bird; but cannot find a solution to this problem anywhere. Can you tell me what to do?

I'm dealing with a properly updated 'bird: 140.5.0 (32-bit) running on an equally updated Windows 10 desktop. First thing this morning, out of nowhere, I started getting an "unable to write the email to the mailbox..." message when sending, thus I could send but not save. And then I realized I wasn't receiving either, on all three accounts in my Thunderbird. I stopped everything and focused on trying to fix this. It's been an all-day, losing effort. So far.

I tried the various quick checks and fixes recommended here and there: I'm running the program as an administrator. I restarted the program. I rebooted the computer. I think I have enough disk space, but to be sure I deleted some bloat from possibly overly large files. I compacted, even though the program is configured to do that regularly. I temporarily disabled my antivirus program. I went into my webmail and deleted all messages that have arrived since my Thunderbird stopped receiving, in case one of them was corrupted. And probably some other attempts as well. Nothing has helped.

And now a second, even worse issue has fallen from the sky. Thunderbird opens. The folder list is where it always has been. The number of unopened messages in each folder is there in boldface, as always, but...the folders are all blank and I get the dreaded popup: "unable to open the summary file...." Have I lost my years' worth of carefully curated emails?

I've tried folder repair. I've deleted parent.lock. Etc. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing.

I will be super-grateful for any wisdom sent my way.

I am using 140.6.0esr (64-bit) and Windows 10. My Inbox disappeared. I was in it with no problems. Then I noticed two problems. I couldn't open new emails. It said connecting to server or loading content but email was blank. Also when I sent an email it could not copy to my sent folder due to network or file access errors. I could open and read all the other emails in my Inbox, just not three new ones. So I selected Inbox properties and repair. After the repair, my inbox is completely empty. It had thousands of messages. When I do a search for common emails I know were in my inbox, it only shows emails from subfolders. When I go to Inbox properties, it says number of messages: 0

Is there any chance I could talk with someone? Or that someone would call me? I'm not experienced in Thunderbird or email settings. And I don't like having to do it online. Richard Higgins Concord Mass

I using Win 10 and Thunderbird update 140.

I am unable to download or open messages, except those in folders. Seems to be file access or network errors, although my internet connection is fine and Thunderbird shows I am online. Problem happened after I did an Inbox repair. I have thousands of old messages and wondering if that is the problem.

It stopped downloading messages after about 5000, the latest in my Inbox being from 2020--but when I click on one it says "loading" email (or content), but it never loads, is just blank.

Is it safe or advisable to uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird? Will it pick up my old profile, settings, folders, etc? Or will I have to reconfigure everything?

My mail is stored on Comcast and I have at least 25,000 emails.

Thanks for any help Richard

I am importing all of my thunderbird data from an installation on an old laptop to a new thunderbird installation on a new laptop. I used the export tool on the old machine and the import tool on the new machine and every installation option fails. On the old machine I have tried copying the files and folder to the new machine and it fails, I have created a zip file (5MB) on the old machine and copied to the new machine and it fails (Not using the Zip tool that is limited to 2MB). I think I have tried every combination. The new installation is able to send and receive messages.

I quite often get this message, though it tends not to be a problem later "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox"

One of the solutions seems to be Compact a File. How do I do this?

I have been moving and saving starred emails in folders. When I read email on my iPhone, I can see a total number for flagged emails but cannot find messages easily. When I go to Thunderbird on desktop, I have to look through folders. I would find it helpful to be able to view all flagged emails in one place, to periodically see if the flags are still helpful, if I have missed something, etc.
