Hello I'm working at Imperva which is a security company. One of our product is Web Application Firewall. In this product one of our feature is to identify the application that is used when sending request to a web service. This may help our customer to set FireFox request as legit. One of the attribute that helps us doing it is the request header User Agent. We have found that FireFox which is installed on Ipad generate the following User Agent without the keyword 'firefox' (while Desktop FireFox and IPhone firefox does) Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_15_4) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/13.1 Safari/605.1.15 (Note that this User Agent ) Because the User Agent is very similar to Macbook Safari application, we can't classify FireFox on Ipad.

Is there any reason why this is the implementation? Can you update the User Agent in the next version in order the security product will be classify it?

Mozilla has no true feedback page any more, so I chose to post here. I kept the "Allow Firefox to install and run studies" box unchecked since I began to use the Firefox browser (years ago). While I was researching a different issue, I found other users' posts about app.normandy. They all said that it allowed Mozilla to do what Mozilla promised not to do: run studies in violation of users' preference to opt out. Based on what I learned from those posts, I found where app.normandy was in my computer's about:config and toggled it to false. I want to thank those other users for their posts. Mozilla's explanation, also according to those posts, is that "Normandy is a collection of servers, workflows, and Firefox components that enables Mozilla to remote control Firefox clients in the wild based on precise criteria." Aside from whether or not Mozilla should be remote-controlling clients in this way, does it really consider all the diverse places in the world where its users live to be "in the wild?"

I´m using Firefox since many years ago. I have installed Firefox 89.02 and I have checked all the options in Dangerous Content Protection: Block dangerous and deceptive content, Block dangerous downloads and Warn you about unwanted and uncommon software. I have install Kaspersky Total Security 21.3 and a few days ago I received an alert: Event: A malicious link has been detected that has already been opened Application active: firefox.exe Component: Antivirus Internet Description: No process Type: Likelihood of an unauthorized software download Name: https://in-page-push.com/400/3906803 Alert: High

Is Firefox blocking dangerous software or not? How to block push notifications that can try to install some kind of malicious program? Thanks for this excellent browser.

Hi, I trust you all had a (well deserved) merry Christmas.

I have a question regarding bookmarks in Firefox. This is something that has been bugging me for some years (yes, it has taken me that long to get around to asking about this). Over the last decade I have amounted a large assortment of bookmarks, which I have carefully structured and also add suitable tags to (as I know what I am likely to search for in future). This works very well for me and it's surprising how my past self has been so accurate at predicting what I may find useful to my present/future self, when it comes to searching for something in my bookmarks.

Herein lies my problem though. I often need to put in a number of tags to make a given web resource findable in the future. For example, I was just reading up about the Google compute module, and have been trying to enter the following tags: Google Edge TPU (Neural compute) sbc network artificial intelligence machine vision intel stick Quantization

This number of keywords is too long, yet I don't want to really remove any of these words/acronyms. Why are the bookmarks so heavily restricted with regards to tags? I see that when I look at the bookmarks, there is also a **keywords** option too, but those words are not searchable, so I don't see much value in placing anything in there.

I am not 100% sure, but I could swear too, that bookmarks used to have a description section too, where I could make notes regarding a weblink (EG: "this website has particularly good recipes for pasta, but ignore their vegatarian options as they don't review very favorably"). I may be thinking of another web browser from a long time ago. Having a description field for each bookmark (which is not restricted to a ridiculously short length like the **Tags** field) would be an excellent idea.

so, to summarize: 1. How do I work around having such a short **Tag** field (and when is Mozilla going to fix this?) 2. Can we please have a Description field for each bookmark. Please!

These are just about my only criticisms of what is otherwise my absolute favorite of browsers. Thanks for the great work and effort by all, and have a prosperous and healthy 2021.

So if you get Firefox on laptop and or PC you can have extensions such as ad blockers, ghostery, and other useful/helpful extensions to make the clients browsing more pleasurable. I love the extensions on PC, however when i use firefox on IOS it seems to not have or support extensions such as ghostery or an ad blockers, is it possible to change this so that IOS could have extensions much like that of PC and Laptop.

With security concerns on the rise, our company has required that all software installed on their systems go through an approval process.

As part of that approval process, they want to know the following:

  • Is the software signed by a trusted third party?
  • Is the software downloaded from a US hosted facility?
  • Does the software perform call backs to the software maker?

Thank you!

As an admin in our organization I wanted to add two "Add Exception..." so end users do not have to get a certificate warning and click through to two places.

One is a connection to a systray service, the url is https://127.0.0.1:51763 and to test and validate this service for the web application, one must first click test in the app, then click Advanced and Add Exception on the "Your connection is not secure" page. The second is https://tablet.sigwebtablet.com:47290/SigWeb/ which has a Thawte certificate on it, but still requires clicking through.

This is for an in house financial operating system. The vendor did place our wildcard cert on the main page which works, its just these two service test URLs cause an issue, and since we do not own these certificates, we cannot re-sign them with a trusted Subject Alternative Name.

If I can do this with Firefox CCK or Group Policy, that would be fine. We do have Firefox trust our Windows Certificate store, so maybe there is something we can do already in Group Policy and Windows Certificates? I'm not sure because the cert at 127.0.0.1 is signed by corelation.local and there are NO SAN names on it, so even trying to use GPO's to import it to the Computers Trusted Root Certificates may not be enough.

Thanks.

We currently run Windows 7 (moving to 10 soon) Trying to get 60.6.0 ESR to work.

Background:

Was forced to upgrade to version 65 which broke the tabs on bottom setting. Tried to install a ESR version but it kept crashing. Went back to version 64 which was immediately forced to upgrade to the broken version again (which I didn't allow).

The problem is this. The people who have implemented this forced upgrade feature are probably using Windows 10 (forced updating) and are used to being treated like second class citizens by Microsoft. Forced upgrading is completely inappropriate. I've used browsers since Netscape, all of the Firefox versions, rarely use any other browser. Never had a problem except with your forced updates.

Lucky for me I found the registry fix for admins to disable updates. Reasonably inconvenient but a hell of a lot better than putting up with forced updates that break the browser.

Question:

How about bringing back the choice to upgrade. How about, at least giving two reminders to upgrade and then disabling the messaging. This messaging is extremely disrespectful - i.e. we are going to keep on annoying you until you upgrade (to a broken system).

Dear Firefox,

It's the first time I am using FireFox! Seriously. For long years I've been an avid Opera and then Vivaldi fan, unfortunately, recently Vivaldi started to become even less compatible with many sites, and I personally started to think more about security and privacy in the Web. I've found that many tech sites recommend using new FireFox as it is as fast as is configurable with its add-ons. That said, I've found this list of 13 add-ons that would help secure my privacy:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collections/mozilla/privacy-matters/

Unfortunately, I am no IT wizard, but a simple user, and I cannot tell if I should istall all 13 of them? Or maybe the overlap in some usages? And futhermore, should I add an addblocker to it?

I would appreciate all the info and help you guys provide :) Thank you in advance.
