What fresh hell is this (in the image)? The display is like this most of the time. Usually, highlighting text causes that part to be fixed but it doesn't last long. This in on Windows 11 and nothing seems to fix it. I've updated drivers and Thunderbird. I've scanned for system file damage. While there wer some corrupt files, fixing them has not affected the display problem. No effect. It looks like some characters are randomly changed to the background color. I cannot access my email account - [email]@mercosound.com using Thunderbird. I need to change the password that Thunderbird has stored in order to access that email account, but Thunderbird is not allowing me to view/change the existing password. I get a popup window asking for my password (Mozilla??) but don't know what that is.

I am running on Linux. I keep downloads in ~/tmp/ and documents in ~/docs/

Both Thunderbird and Firefox are configured to save downloads/attachments in ~/tmp/ (and they do) but still when either application is started it will create a Downloads directory and occasionally also Documents. I'll delete these directories, but every now and then something triggers their creation.

What am I doing wrong? How can I stop this behavior?

I leave Thunderbird running on my computer at home to do filtering and to handle spam. My account is an IMAP account. When I access that IMAP account using the ISP's webmail interface while at work, it seems that -- often -- the filtering and spam handling on my home machine halts. This might be because I manually delete obvious spam and "should be filtered" emails using the the ISP's webmail interface. The Thunderbird app itself (at home) keeps running, though.

Has anybody else seen something similar? That is to say: Deleting messages on an IMAP account using the ISP's "native" webmail interface results in a separate instance of Thunderbird (running somewhere else, but at the same time for the same account) losing functionality? (not crashing outright, but filtering and spam handling stops)

TIA!

Hi all, thanks for volunteering your expertise here. FireFox doesn't allow me to open my printer's configuration home page on my local IP4 network. I failed to find where to add a possible exception for such an address. Error message contains: "This web site might not support the TLS 1.2 protocol, which is the minimum version supported by Firefox."

I don't think my printer/scanner is a significant security risk to me.

Any solutions, other than replacing a perfectly fine printer?

Cheers, Hans

1. Whenever I open Firefox for the first time since boot, it crashes, and I have to click on it a second time for a window to actually show up. Once it shows up, it's forgotten all about the previous session - none of my tabs re-open, the window opens up maximized.

2. Whenever I close the last open window, my previous tabs are completely forgotten. Checking task manager reveals that there are 10 or 11 Firefox processes that are still running.

  • I have a second Windows 11 device that DOESN'T exhibit any of these issues and works correctly. Closing Firefox does not leave any running processes around.
  • "Open previous windows and tabs" is enabled in options.
  • "Firefox will: Remember history" is set in the History options.
  • Both devices are running Firefox 137.0.2 64 bit.

I've been having issues with Twitch for months now. Now I can't even log in. I've disabled every extension I have, I've deleted cookies and all site data--across all websites, not just Twitch which is a real pain to deal with and it didn't fix the problem. First it was just blocking my ability to make any changes to my account, now I can't log in at all. It just tells me to find a supported browser.

I am now getting a spinning wheel with annoying frequency while using/trying to use Thunderbird on my MacBook Air 2017 running Monterey. Everything was fine for the first 6-9 months, but over recent months the spinning wheel has appeared more and more frequently while I'm trying to read mail, answer mail, scroll through messages, etc., etc. Now it comes up every few minutes and delays me doing anything for about 15-30 seconds at a time. It's really frustrating. I recently ran Onyx, which was designed to clear cache, etc and make everything run smoothly. But the only program it required me to quit before it started was Thunderbird. Is there some cache or something I need to clear on a (semi-) regular basis to keep it working at a reasonable speed without this godforsaken spinning wheel interrupting everything? Thanks for any/all your help.
