I have searched without luck.

Either every thread I can find is about a slightly different version of the question, or none of the answers have worked.

I use Outlook Express 6. I'd like to move over to Thunderbird.

I have several GB of dbx files that I would like to import/transfer/convert and be able to access in Thunderbird.

I tried to use the import tool in thunderbird, but choosing "Import from Outlook" gives me the error: "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." I don't see how this is relevant. Regardless, I have now selected outlook express as the default email action, but get the same error.

I have also tried the "Import from file" option, but the only options are "backed up profile", "calendars", "address books". It would seem to me that it would be common for people to move from Outlook Express to Thunderbird, so it seems bizarre to me that there isn't an option to import DBX files. I've opened DBX files in notepad before, I know they're just text, importing them should be a no-brainer. Do I have to write my own conversion program?

Unknown to me Microsoft ditched POP3 recently. I have a large 22gb Outlook .pst file with important historical data for volunteer run non-profits. Using Outlook for 15 years or more. Outlook 2021 that was working stopped suddenly and now only uses IMAP. IMAP and 22gb chokes and is unnecessary as synchronisation not required or desired -or the expense of Microsoft Onedrive excess storage fees.

Can Thunderbird import this large .PST and can it connect to Telus in some way like it used to and that does not invoke IMAP? In other words everything local? Thanks!

Hi,

I'm ready to quit using Microsoft Outlook, and Thunderbird came highly recommended.

Two questions please.

1. Can I continue to use my current e-mail address? Currently my Norman@TwoKassers.com is hosted by GoDaddy, and they allow me to use Microsoft Classic Outlook. I have no idea what's involved if I were to switch to Thunderbird.

2. Over the years, I have offload lots of e-mail from Outlook's root PST file into several other folders linked to other PST files. Can Thunderbird work with all my PST files?

Thanks, Norman Kasser, Hoboken NJ

I use Thunderbird for several yahoo email addresses that I have. Yesterday the one account wasn't transferring over from yahoo so I deleted it and then reinitiated it (POP server setting). I've done this before with another email address I have and it worked, but things must have been set up differently this time as it no longer showed any of my older emails (apparently only showed what was still present at Yahoo's site). My understanding is that my old emails would still be saved on my computer (Windows 10), and I went through the steps on Thunderbird to get to where the stuff is on my computer but when I open any of what appear to be the stored emails, everything is coded in such a way that it's near impossible to read. I'm hoping I can somehow transfer them back to Thunderbird somewhere or, if not, open the file so I can at least read them easily. The Local Folders file that's currently on Thunderbird for some reason has stuff from another email address I have (I believe that one is imap and not POP). I'm very uncomputer savvy, so any help I can get would be greatly appreciated so I don't mess things up more. Thank you

How do I get my email messages imported to Android Thunderbird? Getting the accounts set up is easy but I cannot find a way to export my Tbird email messages so they can be imported into the Android Tbird program.

To me, this is something that should be included in both programs so they can be synchronized. What am I missing????
