I just installed Firefox 63.0 and discovered that the leading (inter-line space) between Bookmarks items has been increased.

Was this intentional? I find it an annoyance because I now have to scroll down more to see lists that easily fit on the screen vertically before. And the change adds nothing to readability.

I want to change the "+" color on the new tab icon

I was able to do this for the close tab "X' icon with the following css code in my userChrome.css file.

.tabbrowser-tab .close-icon:hover {

  fill: white !important;
  background-color: red !important;
  border-radius: 4px;
}

I think this code should work for the new tab icon, however I don't know the name of the new tab icon.

Please help,

Thank you

Hi, I'm trying to get as much as possible of firefox to use dark theme to save my eyes at night.

I use https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/darkreader/ to customize the sites automatically and it does an excellent job, except that firefox pages can't be customized with it and by that I mean:

about:blank about:newtab about:config about:preferences

for the blank and newtab pages I found three solutions:

1- create a [userContent.css](http://kb.mozillazine.org/UserContent.css) file with the following

@-moz-document url-prefix(about:blank) {*{background-color:#000000;}}

@-moz-document url-prefix(about:newtab) {*{background-color:#000000;}}

2- go to about:config and change

browser.display.background_color to #000000

browser.display.foreground_color to #ffffff

3- Go to "Preferences" and search for "colors" click on the colors button and set the background and text colors to the same colors as in 2.

now I tried all of the solutions above and all of them have side effects, the most prominent and annoying one is flashing white page for a couple of seconds when opening a new tab or white page while the website, other annoyances is that the settings don't apply to about:config and about:preferences even if I add them in userContent.css

-To test the flashing white you only need to open a new tab (while applying my settings above) and you will see it.

-To the white page before the site is loaded you need to open the link from another page(if you open a new tab and then paste the link you won't get the white page since the about:blank or about:newtab will have the dark background)

so to see my problem do the following:

1- go to https://github.com/biesiad/deelay#deelayme

2- right click on deelay.me link and click "open link in a new tab"

the link will be opened in a new tab that has the background in white or grayish color.

How can I solve these problems ? any tip would be appreciated.

Regards

Hi every one I have project with which I have managed to hide the status bar on mouse over using the useChrome.css. So you don't see the URl on mouse over. We are using Openkiosk based on Firefox as a information screen to describe what people are looking at in a chapel, the stain glass windows in fact. its a touch screen device not connected to the internet in any way. This has black html pages and the only thing I cant get rid of is when you click on the next link is it flashes the URL link from localhost. I can simulate this with moving the mouse pointer away/off the url link.

I just wondered if anyone knows the code to stop this, I have been looking for days and I cant find it anywhere.

I'm using the built-in dark theme of Firefox. In these days I changed the background color and the folder icons in the Bookmarks/History sidebar using this codes (I'm not absolutely an expert of codes, I've found them by searching the web and the old questions in our support forum.):

/* Sidebar color change */
#viewButton, #sidebar-header, #sidebar-box, #sidebar, .sidebar-placesTree{
-moz-appearance: none !important;
color: #f9f9fa !important; /*text color*/
background-color: #1c1c1c !important; /* background color */
}
/* Drop down arrow - next to "view" */

.button-menu-dropmarker,
.button-menubutton-dropmarker {
 filter: invert(85%);
}
/* Edit folder icons */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container),
#PlacesToolbarItems toolbarbutton[container="true"] .toolbarbutton-icon,
#PlacesToolbarItems menu[container="true"] .menu-iconic-left,
#BMB_bookmarksPopup menu[container="true"] .menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu menu[container="true"] .menu-iconic-icon {
  fill: #e8bb00 !important; /* slightly muted gold */
}
  /* Live Bookmark (RSS Feed) */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, livemark),
#PlacesToolbarItems toolbarbutton[container="true"][livemark="true"] .toolbarbutton-icon,
#PlacesToolbarItems menu[container="true"][livemark="true"] .menu-iconic-left,
#BMB_bookmarksPopup menu[container="true"][livemark="true"] .menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu menu[container="true"][livemark="true"] .menu-iconic-icon {
  fill: orange !important;
}
  /* Smart bookmark folder */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, query),
#PlacesToolbarItems toolbarbutton[container="true"][query="true"] .toolbarbutton-icon,
#PlacesToolbarItems menu[container="true"][query="true"] .menu-iconic-left,
#BMB_bookmarksPopup menu[container="true"][query="true"] .menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu menu[container="true"][query="true"] .menu-iconic-icon {
  fill: #69c !important; /* similar to blue smart folder color */
}
/* These "containers" are SVG in the sidebar, not yet on the menu */
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, OrganizerQuery_BookmarksMenu) {
  fill: olive !important;
}
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, OrganizerQuery_BookmarksToolbar) {
  fill: olive !important;
}
#bookmarks-view treechildren::-moz-tree-image(container, OrganizerQuery_UnfiledBookmarks) {
  fill: olive !important;
}
/* Avoid overriding classic Bookmarks Toolbar and Other Bookmarks icons in menus */
#BMB_bookmarksPopup #BMB_bookmarksToolbar.menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu #bookmarksToolbarFolderMenu.menu-iconic-icon {
  list-style-image: url("chrome://browser/skin/places/bookmarksToolbar.png") !important;
}
#BMB_bookmarksPopup #BMB_unsortedBookmarks.menu-iconic-icon,
#bookmarksMenu #menu_unsortedBookmarks.menu-iconic-icon {
  list-style-image: url("chrome://browser/skin/places/unsortedBookmarks.png") !important;
}

I didn't find how to change the "clock" icon color (white could be ok) in the History sidebar at the left of the "Today, Yesterday, etc". items. I attach a screenshot (it is Firefox in Italian, Cronologia = History). Do you have any suggestion to solve my problem?

It has been asked before, but I wasn't able to find a webpage providing coplete and working instructions.

Here's what I did so far:

1) I set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true in about:config 2) I added a folder called chrome and a file called userChrome.css for both the Root Directory and the Local Directory in about:profiles

/home/user-linux/.mozilla/firefox/ /home/user-linux/.cache/mozilla/firefox/

3) I added the following code to these files (I got it from https://gist.github.com/abelcheung/0229ee3ab896feac8126f40eb1405996 )

@-moz-document url-prefix(view-source:) {

	*|*:root {
		background: none !important;

	.highlight .end-tag {

	.highlight .cdata {

	.highlight .doctype {

	.highlight .pi {

	.highlight .entity {
	 color: #b58900 !important; /* violet -> yellow */
	}
	.highlight .attribute-name {
	 color: #93a1a1 !important;
	}
	.highlight .attribute-value {
	 color: #2aa198 !important;
	 text-shadow: 1px 1px 2px black;
	}
	.highlight .markupdeclaration {
	 color: #859900 !important;
	}
	.highlight .error,
	.highlight .error > :-moz-any(.start-tag, .end-tag, .comment, .cdata, .doctype,
	.pi, .entity, .attribute-name, .attribute-value) {
		color: #002b36 !important;
		background-color: #dc322f !important;
	}
}

4) I restarted Firefox and was expexcting a nice black theme for the View-Source page, but nothing changed. What am I missing?

That being asked, why hasn't Firefox implemented a standard dark theme approved by the majority of users which has all these elements covered? For most people it would make much more sense to switch with the press of a button than spend hours of research and experiments to get a dark theme working.

Also, is this the official Firefox community forum or am I mistaken?

Hello,

I'm trying to change the default text direction in the URL bar from right to left (in FF RTL locals).

Replacing

html|input.urlbar-input:-moz-locale-dir(rtl) {

 direction: ltr !important;
 text-align: right !important;

}

with

html|input.urlbar-input {

 direction: ltr !important;
 text-align: left !important;

}

in chrome\browser\content\browser\browser.css does change the direction.

However, I can not achieve that with userChrome.css. Is it possible to override the "important!" rule in the source file with userChrome.css?

Thank you.

Hey, I know this question has been tackled in the past, but I tried following previous guides and none of the code listed in those guides worked with the latest version of firefox (66). I'm a mac user (you guessed it lol) and I wanted to put the "close tab" x button on the left of the tab, and not the right, so that its consistent with the rest of Mac OS.

Does anyone know how to do that, or is there an extension which does this?

Thanks!
