I'm developing a web app. Currently, I'm using a self-signed certificate (getting it properly signed comes later).

When I have the web server set so that it only accepts TLS1.1 and TLS1.2, I'm getting a SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP error. And, of course, trying the 'use outdated security' link doesn't work, since the web server won't allow those connections.

If I temporarily allow insecure connections on the web server, Firefox will then allow me to accept the cert. After the cert is accepted, Firefox can then connect over only TLS1.1 and TLS1.2. So, most of the time, Firefox can find a common cypher for TLS1.1/1.2 connections.

(The web server is on an Ubuntu kernel, with OpenSSL1.0.1f.)

I updated my wife's WinXP laptop to Firefox 24 last night and as soon as she tried to run RuneScape (runescape.com) the above message appeared in a window. (I can't remember the exact wording.) On one hand it appears to be telling her to activate something. On the other hand it seems to say don't activate it. How should she or I respond to this message?

Up until today I have not had any problems accessing my Gmail account with Thunderbird. This morning however access was denied and I was prompted to provide a new password. i tried this but each time a message came back that it was unacceptable. In the end the only solution I found was to go in to my Google account and turn off secure apps or more precisely swich to allow unsecure apps. As soon as I did this I can access my gmail account again OK but it does beg the question why does Google NOW consider the Thunderbird application to be insecure. I am running version 52.5.2 (32 bit) which shows as being up todate. I am confuse why I have the 32 bit version as my windows 7 is 64 bit? I am concerned about continuing with secure apps switched off. Is there an alternative solution which would provide access with secure apps on?

In my company's internet it is problematic to use https. However firefox always defaults to https connections (e.g. when making a google search from the search toolbar, or when typing an address bar starting with "www"); therefore always bringing up an "This Connection is Untrusted" alert page and making me have to manually go to the address bar and changing the "https" to "http". In Google Chrome and Internet Explorer it is very easy to set the browser to use http instead of https. However, I can't seem to find this option in firefox. Any ideas?

Hi Guys,

I need to configure firefox for deployment in my organization, I have a .cfg file that i am currently using and i need to add another option to it.

I need to disable the secure connection warning "This connection is not secure. Logins entered here could be compromised.

The below shows how to manually fix the issue but i need this done for every deployment of firefox

To Remove the Warning Panels

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste insec and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled preference to switch the value from true to false

(4) Assume this login could be easily stolen and avoid re-using it on important sites

Thank you
