Hello I'm referencing the topic where TLS 1.0 and 1.1 support was removed but rolled back to accommodate some government agencies / sites and support for COVID-19 data

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1290040#:~:text=Mozilla%20and%20other%20browser%20makers,and%20performance%20of%20Internet%20connections.

Quoted answer "Right, support for TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 has been removed few months ago, but we reverted the change for an undetermined amount of time to better enable access to critical government sites sharing COVID19 information."

Since it was referenced as "undermined amount of time", is there anything currently on your roadmap/release schedule in regards to removing support again? I have some cutover decisions I need to make and knowing if ESR for example will remove this support in 2 months may effect the direction of those. If you have anything to share, i'd really appreciate it.

-Chad

When I enter my SMS code as part of SSL/TLS security OAuth2 authentication method (see my account5 below) I get the following: __________________________________________________ Need admin approval Thunderbird www.thunderbird.net

Thunderbird needs permission to access resources in your organisation that only an admin can grant. Please ask an admin to grant permission to this app before you can use it. Have an admin account? Sign in with that account Return to the application without granting consent __________________________________________________

I don't know what app is being refered to in the above message but I am the administrator of my account and have given full permissions for Thunderbird to cross Windows Firewall etc. etc.

Since this problem started this morning I get the busy rotating symbol when accessing my account5 mail directories and their contents do not appear to be updating.

I asked this question some time back here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1362859 I'm asking again to reframe the question. The problem is - if my experience is a guide to the rest of the world - VTT files (which are used to caption HTML video) are no longer read/loaded by Firefox when it is viewing the HTML file locally (i.e. file://). On the web they are loaded as expected. Presumably there's a security setting somewhere in Firefox that now refuses to load the VTTs locally. Maybe under Help > More troubleshooting information there is a setting to change to fix that?

I forgot my password to my Firefox account, and only just realized I haven't updated it in KeypassXC when I was trying to log in to a new machine. It seems that, even though I am already logged in on my old computer and have full access to my account (including saved passwords, bookmarks, and browsing history) I can't find a way to reset my password without deleting all of my synced data. From the "Change Password" menu, it requires my old password if I want to change it without deleting everything. Also, I have 2FA enabled, so why isn't there the option to authenticate my identity in a password reset using 2FA instead of my old password? I know a similar thing already exists for recovery keys, but I only have 2FA. Is there any way for me to reset my password where I don't lose everything? Thank you.

I don't know why, it is NOT Ancestry, as I can sign in to it on other browsers. I get this error message below.

Access Denied Error 21 What happened? This request was blocked by security rules. Your IP: 73.94.12.65 Incident ID: 6eae587fcef92d46

I have no idea what security rules, but I am working on a genealogy project and have never had a problem signing into Ancestry in multiple tabs before today. How do I fix this? Besides getting rid of Firefox, I mean. I have the same security extensions on this browser as I use on Vivaldi, Brave and Chrome - I avoid Chrome, but use Vivaldi and Brave regularly, along with Firefox.

I opened Firefox as usually, but passwords are missing, only logins are available. There is also a file called logins.json-1.corrupt in the profile folder.

Renaming it back to logins.json with restarting the computer does not work.

There are no previous versions of these two files available in the system.

Please let me know how I can recover passwords, may be with a special software.

Thank you!

I have multiple google accounts, one is for work which requires VPN login and an extra password. When I type calendar or Gmail into the address bar, it takes me directly to this account. Switching to my personal account requires me to log in to a VPN, do DFA, then switch accounts. How can I ask Firefox to log in to my personal account first instead?

Thanks!

Hi, My institution has stopped allowing mail to be sent via Thunderbird using OAuth2 because of security concerns. They write:

"While Thunderbird uses Oauth2, it doesn't use/support it fully for sending mail. As such you can authenticate with oauth2 and download/receive mail on Thunderbird, but you can't send mail. Despite saying Outgoing mail uses oAuth2, Thunderbird still requires SMTP to be turned on to use it. This negates the security benefit from the decision to end legacy authentication, and is the change we are not able to do from the new policy. If Thunderbird were to fully support/use oauth2 for sending and receiving it should work. However, while thunderbird - or other mail clients - require SMTP in order to send mail, they will not be able to properly send mail."

Does / will Thunderbird address this and update? Is there an existing solution or explanation?

Running Windows 11, Thunderbird version 91.6.2(64 bit), NordVPN Prior to installing NordVPN all the gmail accounts worked fine. Since installing the vpn I get an email message from Google, for each of my gmail accounts, saying my account has been locked or blocked due to suspicious activity. The messages goes on to say someone tried to sign into my email account, using my password, from Phoenix, AZ (I live in Texas) with the date, time, etc. Since I won't give Google my cell phone number, I had to set up something like a recovery email address, other than gmail, for each gmail accounts. Every time I open the vpn I get these messages in 6 different email accounts and I have to disconnect the vpn and then open the messages in each account and click on "Yes it was me". I'm not sure what the time frame is but if I don't respond "Yes it was me" within the time frame I have to change the passwords on all my Gmail accounts. As a side note I have other mail accounts with @verizon.net and I never have this problem with the @verizon.net accounts. What I have been doing is closing Thunderbird before I open the vpn, but it's a pain, and I'm hoping there is a better solution. I'm attaching a screen shot of my Gmail account setting in hopes it's just a setting that needs to be tweaked.

Network Solutions upgraded their email, and I multiply-checked all my settings in Thunderbird (102.3.2) and can retrieve mail but the outgoing mail hangs and time out with an error. I just discovered it's not my settings, but there's no password listed for the default outgoing SMTP server (my own domain). (I have 2 email accounts, and listed in the "Saved Passwords" are 2 passwords for incoming IMAP plus one the other account outgoing SMTP, 3 total.)

Is there any way to add a password without deleting the default server and then adding it back in, or some other solution?

Thanks

Hi all :)

From a fresh Linux Debian Bullseye I try to connect to a local machine with Firefox (v97 64-bits) by its hostname (avahi server with default domain "local") with the port 6180 bound to a remote web service port (61 is the distant machine IP and 80 is the forwarded port).

When I want to open this URL : http://bionic.local:6180/ FF displays "We can't find this site ... Unable to connect to server at bionic.local ... check your network connection and firewall"

BUT ping bionic.local works perfectly and resolve the good IP address from the Chromium navigator the same URL works without a problem, I can open the distant web site.

This workaround works : add a static resolution in the /etc/hosts file : 192.168.0.71 bionic bionic.local => so FF works in the expected way for now ! But as I said this a workaround and a bad solution.

I supposed too the port was blocked because I accessed an unusual port. So I tried this without success.

How the hell make that FF v97 allows me to use an unusual port ? Or is it bound to the domain "local" which is no more accepted by FF ?

Thank you in advance for your help. With adelphity, lnj

Hi,

Is there any reason firefox would flag an mp4 file legitimately?

  • The file extension and file type are absolutely mp4.
  • There seem to be no mp4 related zero days.

Does Firefox perhaps just treat all downloads from suspicious domains as malware? Is there a zero day I missed? Is this based on some missing metadata on the file or something?

Thanks for any advice you can give here, I'm scared.
