It must've been one of those custom settings I had before I got the new computer and ran a clean install of firefox.

I have set media seamless looping to off in about:config, but I can't see what other preferences would relate to this.

How on earth does someone make the thumbnails for the new tab page actually go back to normal size, and actually fill the icon box? What's the point of having the box be twice the size of the thumbnail icon, now? It makes no sense to me, and just seems like it's a waste of space, regardless of the size of screen it's displayed on.

All the ways I've had to look up for the past several versions no longer work - about:config newtabexperience=false, pasting line into usercontent.css, and so forth.

New Tab Shortcuts wiped out by Sync

Hi all, I suspect I'm out of luck but I'm hoping someone might have some ideas ... I'm using Firefox 94.0.2 and I have become a big fan of the ability to pin shortcuts/bookmarks to tiles in the New Tab screen. I customized my New Tab with 9 rows of tiles, 72 pinned sites, a very useful & convenient feature.

I got a new laptop for work, installed Firefox and logged into my Firefox account. I ran Sync to copy some open tabs over to the browser in my old laptop. Somehow the sync picked up the setting of having 72 tiles on the New Tab page, on the new laptop, which was great; but instead of my pinned sites, the 72 tiles were populated by random sites (presumably pulled out of browsing history). No worries; I'd expected that I'd have to manually configure the new laptop's browser anyway.

But then when i logged into my old laptop this morning I was dismayed to see that the pinned sites were gone! The 72 tiles are still there, but the pinned sites have been replaced by random ones. Now I'll have to reconfigure my old laptop's browser as well. :-(

My question: is there any way to restore the previous pinned sites without having to re-pin them all manually? And once they're all back in place, is there some way to export/save/lock them, so this won't happen again? If having Sync enabled across my two devices is going to randomly wipe out my pinned sites, then I suppose the New Tab tile functionality is not so useful and I'll just use an old-fashioned Bookmark list.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hi, I would like to ask a question about one of the add-on's for Mozilla browser, it's about FVD Speed Dial. I did not save any speed dials I did have. it worked normally all day, and suddenly I cannot use it nor save my settings to import to another speed dial because it's disabled by Mozilla for security reasons I will attach a screenshot. Is there any way I can recover my speed dial? Are they located on my PC by any chance, I cannot find them in any Mozilla folders? Would be really great if you could help me with this.

Thank you. Violeta

Hi, so I am a regular user of mozilla firefox on windows system. I did not notice when the problem started but firefox has been deleting my history everyday. I log in next day and there is no record of any previous history. I mostly browse on normal mode not the private, also the history settings are also checked not to clear browser history when firefox closes. Also I did not have a mozilla accoount previously before writing this question. Could it be the reason behind firefox deleting the history ? Would you please tell me what can be the issue and will I be able to resolve it on my own ? Thank you !

Looks like this question was asked twice before with no response:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1354750

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1331182

I frequently paste text into the address bar to copy it and paste somewhere else. This is very useful for a variety of reasons (e.g. speed, strips text of formatting) but for some reason a recent Firefox update makes it so if you paste text into the address bar and then copy it, you will actually have copied the current page's URL - not the intended copy.

How do we reverse this unexpected and undesirable behavior?

This is a minor issue, but it's really annoying me. I like having certain pages pinned on the page that opens when I open a new tab; it's easier than always having to search through my many bookmarks for pages I use every day. But I find it really annoying and unhelpful – and also embarrassing, if another person is there – that Firefox only allows me to do this if I also allow it to display sites I've visited. The two should be completely separate in my opinion, like on Chrome. I can delete individual sites, but they're just replaced with other, even less relevant ones. So now I have a blank, useless new tab page, instead of a helpful one that shows me the sites I need to get to, because I don't want to risk a coworker, friend, or family member randomly seeing whatever sites I may have visited once or twice months ago. (This doesn't have to be extreme (porn, etc) to be embarrassing; I don't necessarily want people to see that I've been shopping for jewelry or hair dye or whatever.) It's just unprofessional and unnecessary. Thanks for fielding my complaint.

When I have a handful of tabs open, they start scrolling off-screen, despite the fact that there is plenty of room on the tab bar. In fact, tabs never seem to populate the right 50% of the tab bar. I have found plenty of advice about how to set minimum and maximum sizes for the tabs themselves, but that is not my problem. I want to be able to see all of my tabs when there is plenty of room to show them. Any way to solve this?

The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed. Go back to Instagram.

It does not occur on the Instagram stories.

It only happens on Firefox not on Chrome. Chrome works fine.

I have inspected the page and I keep getting theses error messages. These messages come up in troubleshooting mode as well.

Hello,

I am a Web Developer, fixing a website for my client. After the page is cached in Mozilla Firefox the layout breaks, when I clean the cache everything is back to normal. This issue is only present in Mozilla Firefox, I don't have that issue with Google Chrome.

Website URL: https://www.impeccablex.com/ Please see the screenshots attached, you can see the layout before and after.

I have tried almost everything that I could think of, don't know what to try next. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance! Best Regards, Mario C.

"Homepage and new windows" setting allows "Custom URLs" as an option. "New tabs" setting allows only "Firefox home page (default)" or "Blank page"

Why is there no longer an option in "New tabs" for a "Custom URL" ??

Is this just another of those program designers' decisions of a less-is-more "improvement" . . . ? Well, it's not.

How can I return to having my Homepage URL also designated for new tabs?

Thank you.

Mozilla is now redirecting my Downloads to OneDrive, not my local hard-drive as intended

I am trying to get rid of OneDrive on my newly purchased Windows 11 Dell computer -- because it is a fact that Microsoft has no idea how to assure security of my stuff (see yesterday's zero-day vulnerabilities in Excel, eg). BUT when I go to Mozilla/Settings/Files/Downloads/ Save files to, Browse ..., and Select Folder 'Desktop' and then a folder I have newly created on my Desktop [called 'FFox downloads'], the name is changed to "C:\Users\[mynamedfolder]\OneDrive\Desktop\FFox downloads⁩". And it is NOT possible to edit the text in the 'Save files to' to remove the 'OneDrive' path within the Mozilla box. And there is no warning that the desired location has been altered to send it to Microsoft and the cloud, not the hard drive in my office.

Details: When I look via Start File Explorer, 'This PC' contains 'OS(C:)'. which is my Local Disk per Type--clearly hardware, not cloudland). However, within 'This PC' also exists 'Desktop', containing the folders I see on my monitor/desktop, including a new folder I created there, as one always could before, called 'FFox download' to try to use it to save downloads locally, ie without sending the actual download (and/or a copy of same) to the cloud. BUT, with Windows 11, a look at Properties admits its 'physical' location is actually 'C:\Users\[mynamefolder]\OneDrive\Desktop! Also, under OS (C:) exists Users, containing a [mynamefolder] name, with a OneDrive folder within it, and Desktop within that, my intended local FFox download folder within that. HA!! Obviously it is not Mozilla's fault that Microsoft is being sneaky. I suspect Microsoft is redirecting or copying everything on my Desktop, which in the past would exist only on my 'Local Disk', to cloudville. I have been unable so far to figure out how to fix this: do you by chance know, if so I would be most grateful. And I suspect others who wish to protect their information will, too.

Workaround: For now, I have created a new folder on OS (C:), called 'LocalDesktop', and within it a new folder, 'Localdownloads'. This seems to work, in that FFox will accept that as the place to send downloads.

ACTION ITEMS: I suggest Mozilla put a bold Warning that your FFox downloads in Windows 11 will no longer go to you alone, and certainly not insert the phrase 'OneDrive' into the 'Save files to' box when those words were NOT chosen via 'Browse...'.

[What I don't know, so far, is whether Microsoft is also copying the contents of this local folder to OneDrive, and I fear that if so there will be no warning given of this security breach.] Thank you, and thank you Mozilla for providing Firefox to the world, Rich

Hi II am a relative computer novice and I am confused by the concept of deleting cache and cookies.

I am having trouble with Firefox browser on Vanguard website. I was told to clear my cache and/or cookies.

I don't currently store any Vanguard passwords on my computer.

However, I’m afraid that if I clear cache or clear cookies I will inadvertently remove the passwords for all my other websites.

Is there a way to clear cache and clear cookies without deleting passwords?

Hi, I have an issue with making the separators in the bookmark toolbar drop-downs visible. I am running Firefox 95 with the Quantum - dark Blue theme installed. I am running Linix Mint Uma.

The dropdown have separator - space - but no line showing that there is a separator. I have tried many ways to make the separators visible and with light-grey colouring in the userChrome.css file but nothing changes.

Anybody have any idea what can be done or where I might change the Quantum-DarkBlue coding to incorporate the visible separators?
