Set up thunderbird on windows 10 with 1 email account. Everything was working, until it wasn't. Reinstalled thunderbird but when I go to add my mail account, I enter the info and on the gmail pop up, I enter my email, hit "next" and it asks me to enter my email address again.

I have tried to configure manually with no success.

I have confirmed my javascript is enabled in the config editor, I have added Thunderbird as an exclusion on both Windows Firewall and Windows Security, I have turned on third party access under settings for the gmail account, and I still cannot add the email account to Thunderbird.

I don't know how to add my email account, this is very frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thunderbird 92.1.0 MacOS 10.13.6 Gmail via POP3

The problem is pretty straightforward. Thunderbird downloaded (almost) everything fine and retrieves new mail as expected. It won't download anything before 7/5/2009 while Gmail has messages going back to 2004. How can I make Thunderbird download those older messages?

Hi

I am looking to change my website and email host but don't want to loose my emails. I have been recommended Thunderbird to help with this but I am unsure how it can help and how to do it. I think Thunderbird saves the email content is that right? rather than letting me transfer it to another email host? I have no knowledge with how to make this happen so would be grateful if someone could advise me what to do?

Many thanks Emma

I've been using Firefox ESR for some years. Now I would like to know the best way to use and try the "normal" version of Firefox. Can I install it without uninstall ESR? Or must I do a clean install of Firefox after getting rid of ESR? If this is the case, what must I do to keep my profile, bookmarks, etc?

Hi, I desperately need help please regarding Thunderbird Email. I factory reset my computer to get rid of a variety of bugs/slowness etc. I downloaded/printed the support info regarding profiles off the mozilla support site. i followed the instructions and saved my profile. there looked to be two profile file folders. i save them on an external drive. Reset my computer. put thunderbird back on, however the new version of Thunderbird doesnt seem to want to migrate my files back. Im really worried that Ive lost my whole history of emails. I have been with Thunderbird for more than 10 years and saved hundreds of emails in various email folders. Ive tried loading one profile folder, the other, then both and all other variations. ive made new profiles and tried to upload my old profiles and nothing works. I did manage to get a couple of my historical email folders to appear, and some sent items from years ago. But 95% of the stuff i still cant upload. Im not very IT savvy, but i believe ive followed the instructions properly. Is there anything else I can try. are my folders saved in the "server" somewhere that i can access? should i try an use an old version of thunderbird? any advice (in laymans terms) would be appreciated very much :) thanks jackie

My email is name@verizon.net. I am trying to switch over from windows live mail. When I set up Thunderbird account it expects the pop3 server to be .verizon.net . However aol took over the management of the servers and switched both the incoming and outgoing servers to pop.aol.com and smtp.aol.com When I go in and manually change the incoming and outgoing servers, I have successfully modified the info. However, when I go into the show password page, it shows my url as mailbox://pop.verizon.net (mailbox://pop.verizon.net) Twice I was able to set the account up and Thunderbird successfully brings in my existing emails from the aol server. However, the next time it checks for mail I receive this message – “Sending of password for user name did not succeed. Mail server pop.aol.com responded: [SYS/TEMP] Server error - Please try again later.”

It never succeeds after this. It looks like Thunderbird is still using the pop.verizon.net address for incoming mail even though it correctly lists in the server settings the pop server as pop.aol.com.

Please help me resolve this problem.

Hi there!

I'm attempting to migrate my Firefox (106.0.3) profile from the Linux Mint V20.3 on one SSD to a new installation of Linux Mint V21 on a separate SSD. I'm using the information supplied on this page:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Step 4, under Backing up your profile says: Right-click on your profile folder (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default), and select Copy.

This folder, qspfoqtl.default, contains 1 file, named times.json, the contents of which are:

{ "created": 1618792039414, "firstUse": null }

Clearly, not my Firefox profile.

There is, however, a folder named nnob5aww.default-release that contains a bunch of directories and files (505.4MB) with names like bookmarkbackups, browser-extension-data... storage, weave.

Is this documentation incorrect as of this release of Firefox? And, should I be using the nnob5aww.default-release folder as the profile? I'm a little confused. (Most often, I'm a lot confused.) Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

- Ralph

However, I cannot find/get my local folders (the TB equivalent of a PST file) to move to my new system so I can still have access to all those save emails and records. I have searched here and cannot find a clear answer on how to get those files moved. Any help (please dub it down a little for me :) is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi folks,

In the process of migrating over to Linux but before I do need to check out mail clients. Unfortunately I cannot seem to find the MD5 checksum or other hashes associated with the latest download, are they available or discontinued.

As a side note to alternative platforms such as Linux and apps, please make it easier to download and use the software without jumping through hoops each time, thank you.

Could somebody be so kind as to explain how I download all my Gmail emails into Thunderbird in the same folders as in Gmail?

I'm not talking about synchronizing my Gmail account with Thunderbird. I want to literally download the emails into Thunderbird (so that I can delete my Gmail account but still retain all my emails from that account by keeping them in Thunderbird).

I tried Google Takeout and got a mbox file. But when I import it into Thunderbird the emails all appear in the inbox without any folders.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
