when there are several hundreds of incoming messages on the folder, it is easy to read/view those messages IF THEY HAVE GRID LINE option(s).. (see example from TB display (w/o Grid line) & Eudora display (w/ Grid line)

If current TB is not available, could the TB software developer to consider this little feature/function for updated versions ??

Several attributes disappeared with latest updates introducing supernova. I've found the CSS code #toolbar-menubar{order:-1 !important;} added to userChrome.css works to move the Menu bar to the top. I've tried several examples of CSS code to set tree rows eg Inbox to display alternate rows background white/grey, however, none seem to work. Any suggestions? Thank-you.

Re: userchrome.css It appears only part of my userchrome file affects customization in latest release (115).

Q: Is there any information on how to do customizations for the following specific items: 1. message pane grid lines, 2. message row alternating colors 3. thickness of all pane splitters?

Hello, so I am not very experienced and recently discovered how to customize Fire Fox using the userChrome.css file. I went through all of the steps that are required in order to do this. I set up a folder called chrome in the directory /Users/my name/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/x1oheo82.default-release To test if it works I wrote this into the userChrome.css file: @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* set default namespace to XUL */

and set toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true After restarting Fire Fox I saw that nothing changed. I double checked if there was a hidden file extension or if I might be in the wrong directory. I tried different code to see if there was some error in the code but nothing changed. I watched countless tutorials on You Tube and tried to find answers on google but nothing that I did seemed to help. I don't know if it has something to do with the operating system I am running or if it is a limitation of my computer hardware (I am running Fire Fox on an m1 mac).

So, I upgraded to SuperNova and my spell checker no longer works. I removed and re-installed the dictionary extension, someplace I think it shows as installed and active. BUT it does not show my spelling mistakes as I compose an email, and when I go to send the spellchecker popup comes up with blanks. Any thoughts on what/how I can fix this. I "really" need a spellchecker.

Currently on TB 115.3.1 but this problem existed on 102 and earlier. My email is all Pop (and not Imap).

I made filters to put some emails into the Local Junk folder and that works fine. The only emails in the Local Junk folder are those resulting from the actions of my filters. I've checked and the junk folder is the "Junk- Local folders" and not some other junk folder that I might have created.

The Local Junk folder setting (as well as individual mail account junk settings) is to automatically delete emails after 21 days. But nothing ever gets deleted and I have to delete manually.

Is there some master setting that I've missed somewhere?

Hello, I have been using Firefox as my main browser for more than a decade. One could say i am some Mozilla fanboy, having convinced many of my friends and relatives to use Firefox instead of any chrome based options (Which there are to many these days). It struck me today, as i was reworking some workflow elements in many programs i use daily, that it is impossible to change any key binding in Firefox anymore. I know it has been a while now, and i searched all over the web for an answer or a solution, but at this point it is clear that other than going in the code and recompiling Firefox manually, it is not possible. I stumbled upon the (only) extension that allows to change some shortcuts, but the two that i wanted to change are impossible to configure from it, being disabling only f12 as i would use it for other things but i do not want to lose the dev console and also ctrl+L to open the address bar, it is quite inconvenient and would much prefer to use ctrl+spacebar as it matches many other bindings i am using with other software. There have been many other features that were changed in the recent years that made me start to look for an alternative, as i see features melting away almost as quickly as the user base of the product.

I do understand that one person's problem is not going to change the way a big piece of software is working, but i am wondering, why are the users losing such features as basic as customizing key bindings in a piece of software that used to be so incredibly customizable in the past? Why is the only viable option to anything chrome based losing it's edge over the competition? Is Firefox v150 be based on the chromium engine or will it die before?

The subject line in my Thunderbird inbox stopped displaying. I tried restoring columns, cloning columns, and deleting session.json and xulstore.json, then restarting Thunderbird, and restarting my PC. I'm running Windows 11, 22H2. I'll appreciate any help given ~ calsea ~

I just upgraded to Firefox 98.0.1. And there doesn't seem to be an option to add Pocket suggestions to the homepage, as there used to be.

You can add Pocket articles that you've saved, but not suggestions from Pocket.

It used to be under settings - home - recommended by Pocket.

Has this been removed from the options?

Have you discovered that you cannot raise the 'Message Pane' as far upwards as in previous versions? This is because the developers have increased the minimum height of the Thread Pane otherwise known as 'Message List'.

The new UI has this massive customizable toolbar at the top of the screen, it wastes a lot of space and doesn't look good compared to the old UI, you can fully customize it even leaving it blank but that does not remove it entirely and it looks off with just a blank nothing up there, where is the option to completely remove this new toolbar?

After Firefox Update to 100.0, the Theme that I created (JOHN - Light Grey) stopped working properly. More Specific all drop-down and pull-down menus have been transformed to a "white" background color, overcoming the initial created one, which was "dark gray".

So I tried to revise (update) my "Theme". But this became impossible.

In Developer Hub, in Theme Generator there was a (pink) frame warning "the following manifest properties that your most recent version upload used in it's manifest are unsupported in this wizard and will be ignored: properties popup popup_text tab_loading So I couldn't edit the theme and even more I can't finish and save any changes. Well, Is there any skilled user to give me a hand ? I would appreciate too much any piece of advice ...

I like to have a dark theme (I do not wish to be dazzled by lots of bright white backgrounds).

But if I do that then the reader window is white on black, which I do no like. I prefer almost-black on light-grey. I can set this up. However, what I cannot do is set this in my Composition window without forcing those same colours onto all recipients, as the <body> tag ends up with my text="" and bgcolor="" tags on it.

If I set "Use reader's default colours" then I end up with the default colours from the reader (white on black) not what I have set (although this does remove the text and bgcolor tags).

So the problem I have is can either set the default colours in my Composition windows to what I am comfortable with or I can set them such that recipients can view them as they wish. But I cannot do both.

Is it possible to set the text and background colours form with a Theme? (Indeed, where is the documentation which describes what is settable within a Theme?).

Is there a way to permanently disable red underlining from Firefox spell check? This has only started occurring since an update to Firefox 110 (now on 112), but there seems to be no way to make it go away. I've unchecked the spelling box in preferences, and killed off things in about:config:

I'm using Mac Monterey, and have the global spell check turned off for that. This seems to be a problem specific to Firefox, as it doesn't happen in Chrome (spellcheck off) or Safari. I'd like to remove this entirely, since it's distracting to have it second guessing me whenever I'm typing. The main reason I use Firefox is that it gives me the ability to control many things, particularly in combination with UBlock, but I'm unable to make any progress in removing this persistent work disruption.

I've searched for answers. I tried the About:config and changing some settings to false and others to true as suggested (e.g. browser.search.context.loadInBackground), etc., and of course I have the option chosen under settings.

This is a new computer. My old computer would switch to the new tab when I right click it, but this new one won't.

Any latest fixes?

Greetings, I've checked a few articles in Firefox to help with my question, but none of them are helping. (Here's the main article: http://example.com.) Here's the situation. Say I go to a website's Contact page and click the button to contact someone, a window appears and asks me what app I want to use to open the email. Gmail is my default email, and Firefox is my default browser, and I use Windows 10. When I open the window of options (see attached screenshot) to open the email, and I then click "Choose Other Application" (other than Firefox), I don't see the Gmail app anywhere. I then followed the directions in that link above to check my Windows settings, per its suggestion, which I did ... but in those settings, too, I got to a point where the directions no longer matched what I'm seeing on my screen. I didn't see the Gmail app anywhere. Could you let me know in simple layperson's terms how to open Gmail links in Firefox? I don't have a PhD in computer science, so please keep it very simple. Hi folks, I had a problem with this back in June 2021 when my previously black background to the menu bar (bookmarks etc) changed to a washed out grey. Chris Ilias and dbben both replied, and Chris sent me a video guide on how to install Photon Colours, which fixed the problem, thanks. However, today the same problem has re-occurred - ie grey background. Unfortunately, when I checked in the Themes menu I found that Photon Colours is no longer there. Grateful if you could tell me if there is a new fix for this so that I can re-instigate the black background to the toolbar. Many thanks Chris

Frequently when I update Firefox something stops working the way I want it to. So after the last update I disabled updates. That was a while ago (version 89) and my browser was getting pretty stale. So I backed everything up, reenabled updates, and now I have version 104.

And, of course, something is broken now. The context menus when I right click are not functioning as before. The userChrome.css is still there in the chrome folder in my profile and has the same contents. The option toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets is set to true. But it doesn't work anymore. I added a line to change the color of the tab toolbar and that worked. So userChrome.css is being read and acted upon. But the other command (I whittled it down to just one additional command for testing) is ignored.

Here is what my userChrome.css looks like right now:

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");

1. context-openlinkintab { display:none!important; }
2. TabsToolbar{ background-color: #CCCCCC !important }

But the "Open Link in New Tab" still appears in the context menu when I right click a link. It didn't do this before the upgrade to 104. Did something break in between version 89 and 104 or is it some other oddity?

the newest update to version 97.0 was run automatically. Afterwards the new print preview appears although I have it disabeled in about:config (print.tab_modal.enabled --> false). I cannot get rid of it. It is very annoying as I cannot print my labels with that menu and always have to click once more to do so. Does anyone has a fix for this?
