I recently installed Thunderbird on a new computer.I set it up to use my Yahoo account. It does receive emails sent to Yahoo but will not send. Every time i click SEND it asks for a password and always says it failed.

Under settings, there are 2 servers, IMAP and SMTP. Each has a different password, but at one point I made them the same. It does not matter because the outgoing server keeps changing its password to about 20 random letter and characters. At one point I copied these random characters into the clipboard and posted it in after it asked for a password...and it still FAILS.

I am using version 81.0.19 Until I get this fixed it is useless. An annoying thing is that each time I start Thunderbird, it asks for the password...on my previous pc it remembered it. Both machines are Windows 10. Can anyone help?

As said in the title, both Firefox, Firefox DE and Chrome will open and crash/close instantly on my new Lenovo Legion PC with Windows 11 installed on it. Only Edge works, and so far I've tried a lot of solutions : -Restart PC -Uninstall, delete files and fresh install both programs -The MSCONFIG thing and unchecking start programs -Every update Windows update recommended me -Entire new windows install, without any linking with my previous pc (which had the same problem two times already, both fixed by returning to a previous version of windows)

I believed it was a ram problem with my previous pc because it was old, but this one is completely new and has the same problem, while there's nothing except my microsoft account that is common to both PCs

I'm completely lost, help me please (writing this on another PC)

I had a functioning thunderbird, but do to my host provider I had to change some of the configuration (had (owl) suffix). This left 2 profiles. The new profile wouldn't work until I deleted the original. I did a save so I have all the files, now which ones need to be restored. ( a full file backup prior to adding new profile so all org profile files are available)

A profile directory displays all of the folders, 2 files for each folder a MSF and an MBX. Some also have a file type of File.

Which has to be copied, will the folders be created with the copy or do I need to create them in thunderbird first ?

"OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc." plugin will sit in the "will be installed shortly" status forever if you have HTTPS-Only mode enabled. I have been pulling my hair out for the last few days trying to figure out why I couldn't play YouTube or many other sites videos.

Turns out the site that the library is downloaded from has a bad certificate installed: https://ciscobinary.openh264.org/libopenh264-2.3.0-linux64.6.so.bz2

``` Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for ciscobinary.openh264.org. Late last week, something changed in Firefox browser. I used to download csv files and Firefox would open them with the option to save as an excel file. Now it does not. I have to save it as csv then convert it to excel. It also doesn't seem to save my settings on the website I'm downloading from - I always have to manipulate the settings before downloading. It is a huge headache and I have resorted to using Chrome instead.
$ uname -a Linux debian 5.10.0-18-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 5.10.140-1 (2022-09-02) x86_64 GNU/Linux
I am running: $ thunderbird --version
Thunderbird 91.13.0
to download all the data in my gmail account via POP3, but Thunderbird seems to be making assumptions about where to put your data and I haven't found a way to tell it where to put it; so, since it uses the user's home directory, the only way I think you could easily put the data where you want is by changing it, but I can't:
$ usermod --move-home --home "${_NEW_HOME}" "${_WHMI}" usermod: user user is currently used by process 1141 $ sudo ps -aux | grep 1141 user 1141 0.0 0.1 15600 9144 ? Ss Nov05 0:00 /lib/systemd/systemd --user user 50636 0.0 0.0 6244 712 pts/0 S+ 06:42 0:00 grep 1141
Unless they both try to exclusively access /etc/passwd, I can't understand how /lib/systemd/systemd could possibly relate to usermod.
Why is it TB doesn't have --data-type (POP3 or IMAP, ...) and --data-dir options you could enter in the command prompt at start up?
I am hacking my way around to be done with it. I am sure you have a very solution to my kind of problem. Any suggestions?
I have been able to move my profiles and Thunderbird is working correctly. However, I cannot find/get my local folders (the TB equivalent of a PST file) to move to my new system so I can still have access to all those save emails and records. I have searched here and cannot find a clear answer on how to get those files moved. Any help (please dub it down a little for me :) is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hi, I desperately need help please regarding Thunderbird Email. I factory reset my computer to get rid of a variety of bugs/slowness etc. I downloaded/printed the support info regarding profiles off the mozilla support site. i followed the instructions and saved my profile. there looked to be two profile file folders. i save them on an external drive. Reset my computer. put thunderbird back on, however the new version of Thunderbird doesnt seem to want to migrate my files back. Im really worried that Ive lost my whole history of emails. I have been with Thunderbird for more than 10 years and saved hundreds of emails in various email folders. Ive tried loading one profile folder, the other, then both and all other variations. ive made new profiles and tried to upload my old profiles and nothing works. I did manage to get a couple of my historical email folders to appear, and some sent items from years ago. But 95% of the stuff i still cant upload. Im not very IT savvy, but i believe ive followed the instructions properly. Is there anything else I can try. are my folders saved in the "server" somewhere that i can access? should i try an use an old version of thunderbird? any advice (in laymans terms) would be appreciated very much :) thanks jackie
I am on windows 10. My Thunderbird was upgraded automatically from 91.11.0 to 102.0. I've lost all my emails, folders, accounts, and profiles, including Giganews (usenet). I tried re-installing TB 91.11.0 and restoring my profile folder, but I still cannot access my old folders, accounts, or profiles.
What did I do wrong? Is there any way to get back to a working Thunderbird? I have numerous backups of my old Thunderbird profile folder.
I've been using Thunderbird as my email program for many years and have moved it successfully at least three times in the past. I now have installed Thunderbird on my new computer under Win 11 and followed instructions posted on your website for doing this.
It does appear to have properly copied my email account (along with a couple of older email accounts). But even thoug the data for all of the saved emails appears to have been copied in correctly, when I restarted Thunderbird none of the old customem folders show, just the default ones, and even in those there are only 5 very old (2003,2013,2014) emails in the Sent folder. The the old computer has 8971 emails in its Sent folder.
Is there any way I can import the emails into the new system.
If it matters I have been using File per Folder storage for the emails. Might it help to change that to File per Message before copying to the new system?
Thanks for any suggestions anyone can provide.
I reinstalled Firefox and now need to import passwords from file where they were exported before reinstall. This article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/import-login-data-file explains how to import passwords from file, but this option is missing. The only option available is Import from another browser.
From here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1702336 it looks like the feature was disabled 9 months ago. It is not clear what is the workaround in interim and what is the current state of resolution. For example, how do I use passwords CSV file to load into Microsoft Edge or Chrome and then import this data from that browser back to FireFox?
Hi
If I click my way through https://www.mozilla.org/de/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release I get a different Link everytime. So as someon who wants to distribute Firefox on different PC's , I want to know: Are there any direct download links for the latest version? The best would be some links like Webex has for distribution (e.g. https://mozilla.org/firefox/windows/FirefoxInstaller.exe)
Thanks in advance Robin
