Not really a question, more of a plea...
Firefox 18.0 crawls on my machine. Not the browsing as such; that's only a little slower than 17.0.1 (still noticeable). I'm talking about opening and traversing menus and entering text in text fields on sites. I had to go back to 17.0.1 as it was just too annoying. This is on Linux Mint Debian Edition (Debian Testing), using the nl localized Firefox downloaded from the Mozilla site. Switching off extensions and/or using a new profile didn't help. If this doesn't get any better in following versions, I'll have to look for another browser when 17.0.1 becomes too old. Please don't make me do that. I've just tried Chrome and quite frankly, it's a bit of a joke...

Hello
I am currently using Ubuntu 18.04 and Firefox Quantum 59.0.2 64-bit. On some websites, I am unable to select the password field either using tab or a mouse click to be able to enter a password. This leaves me unable to login. However, this doesnt seem to happen on all password fields.
For example on https://reddit.com I can enter username and password on the field on the right. However, if I click on Login hyperlink on 'Want to join? Log in or sign up in seconds.', I get a popup which I am unable to click the password field on.
I have also seen this problem on https://abnzb.com
I have tried to run in safe-mode but the problem persists.
My addons are Gnome shell integration, Enhanced Steam, HTTPS Everywhere, uBlock origin.
Also, to add to this. When I right click on the password text fields, I do not get a menu popup. I am not sure if this is related or not.

Three tabs keep opening although closed in previous sessions. That happens whichever method I use to have tabs open from the previous session, i.e. making the preference to open tabs from previous session OR to set the preference to a single tab and set the browser in about:config to give me the option to save tabs. The tabs are NOT in history.
The urls of the tabs are as follows : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/%40import https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/url https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/url
Is there a solution to this problem?

Right now, I'm using Fedora 19 with Xfce 4.10 and Firefox 23 on my laptop. When I download a file and look at the dowload window, it has a sidebar that I have no use for. I know it's possible to get rid of it because it wasn't there before I upgraded from Fedora 17, and it's not there on my desktop, which still has Firefox 22. There isn't an X to close it, there's nothing about it in Preferences and if there's something in about:config, I haven't located it.
I have 59 tabs open and firefox crashes up to 10 times in a row. Is the crash related to many tabs? Which browser can I use that supports many tabs?
My system is an i5 with 22GB RAM running Ubuntu 15.10
where can you find the embedded Firefox pages? I would like to modify them on my computer.
I want to modify the Session Restore page. Where do I find it to modify?

On the new Firefox Quantum it appears the positions of the toolbars is fixed and the extension that used to allow this to change don't work. Particularly, the tabs are on top which is just hideously awful. I'm sure someone, somewhere likes it, but why are we all being forced to work in a specific way? Have you been brainwashed by Apple of Microsoft? Just look at how many people used the "Classic Theme Restorer" or "Tabs on Bottom" extensions to see how many people despise this awful layout you've imposed on us.
Please, fix this urgently and let users decide how their screen should be laid out, rather than imposing your will on us - especially since this is a cross platform browser so needs that level of flexibility.
Quantum seems to work great, but the ethos underpinning this design ("Work my way or not at all") it terrible and is a great way of alienating people.

How do I totally remove Shockwave Flash 15.0.0152. Using Ubuntu 12.04, FF 32.0.3. It seems that I have Shockwave Flash 11.2.202.406 installed also...How ???. When I disable SWF 15.xxx, it disables SWF 11.xxx also.
This was happening before I installed Chrome browser. Chrome is the only way I can use my computer without throwing thing about the room.
When I enable SWF 11.xxx, and leave SWF 15.xxx disabled, SWF turns on SWF 15.xxx. Seems these two versions are screwing up everything on my computer. Can't watch videos, FF goes gray screen and stuck, for 30 seconds, then recovers, then goes gray screen, then a message comes up "bad script -- Stop?", etc.,etc.
Lately when I am using T-bird email the screen goes gray and stops working.
Please help
Thanks SB

Pages with web fonts, like http://google.com/fonts, are not rendered correctly. All text that should be web fonts is shown with the default font. This is Firefox 20.0 on Ubuntu 13.04 with Gnome 3.8. - Starting in safe mode does not help. - neither does starting with a new blank profile. - There are no error messages in the Error Console. - Javascript is enabled. - not allowing hardware acceleration does not help. - the "Allow sites to use their own fonts" option is checked. - I am not behind a proxy.
What else is there to check?

I know that firefox once put the tabs on top, but I had that fixed with setting in "about:config" the value for "browser.tabs.onTop" to "false". Prior to v57 I could click on a link like http://freezone.iinet.net.au/include/radio/playlists/2.m3u and tell Firefox to always open it in VLC, after which I would be able to listen to these sorts of streaming music stations in VLC with a simple click in Firefox. It did open a blank tab as well, but no big deal.
Now when I click such a link, a new blank tab still opens but it just sits there in a "loading" state with a status bar message "Connecting to iinet.net.au...". Eventually it times out.
This has occurred on 2 different machines running Linux Mint (with Firefox Sync active) but also on a Windows 7 machine which does not have FF Sync enabled.
The problem persists even in Safe Mode (i.e., with extensions disabled).
There are ways around this for me - like loading the URL directly into VLC, though that is clumsier; I'm at a bit of a loss as to why/how this change has occurred. But it seems like Firefox wants to play mp3 audio in its own (html5?) builtin player, but that it doesn't support m3u.
The reason I would prefer to listen to streams in VLC is so that if I close Firefox after starting a music stream, then VLC can still keep playing the music.

Hi! I see 60.2.1 has been released three days ago. My TB 52.9.1 (64-bit) still shows no update available. I'm on the release channel with automatic update enabled. I also have restarted TB several times with no change. I haven't changed any update related settings. I have Lightning but I don't use it. I'm running TB on CentOS 7 64bit with all latest patches.
What could be the reason? Thanks! I know I could just download 60.2.1 and manually update. But I want to understand what prevents my 52.9.1 from updating and whether this will affect my future auto updates.

The Duckduckgo extension caused the page https://www.commsec.com.au/ to reload constantly so I removed it. Now Firefox won't let me add a general duckduckgo search engine and displays the following nonsensical messages (or others in the same vein) regardless of the number of re-starts or alterations to profile documents (including removal of search.json). Those alterations (including the removal) have since been reversed.
"Firefox could not install the search plugin from "https://mycroftproject.com/installos.php/29720/duckduckgo.xml" because an engine with the same name already exists."
