Using FF v 83.0, Windows 7 Pro, ethernet connected to router, download speed over 80Mb (pay Comcast for 250-300!), trying to stream content I paid for before it expires. The video is a little choppy but the audio is mostly garbled. Previous streamed events a few months ago with previous firefox versions played fine. Tried a mac with OSX 10.10 (similar vintage to Windows 7) and that plays fine on Firefox v78.5.0esr. Here is the link to the video service:

https://watch.eventive.org/nhdocs2020/play/5fc81468e2268200a56e38ec?m=1

Is there some bug with v83 and Windows 7 or some setting I can change for better streaming? I already tried changing the performance settings but it did not help.

Thanks

Firefox 84 - Problems with Gemalto Smart Card Reader and Crypto Module

Hi,

Since the FF 84 upgrade, FF crashes whenever I try to access certificates from a smart card reader. The smart card reader uses Gemalto classic client 7.3 security modules. The security device is loaded in FF and the installations has worked perfectly well with previous versions of FF (up to version 83). Since the upgrade however, FF repeatedly freezes and ultimately crashes when the smart card is present! If I unload the security device or of the smart card reader is not physically present, FF seems to work correctly.

Does anybody experience the same problems? Somebody has found a solution?

Many thanks in advance for your return. JBL

[http://about:preferences#general ( hopefully) this is "Your browser is being managed by your organization."] Looking at my options today, I noticed that while I was on the general page, I noticed this phrase above the GENERAL heading, and I was surprised, about what this meant. when I clicked the option box that was next to the phrase mentioned, I was taken to a place I didn't recognize and found the page to be nothing like I had seen before. So hopefully the screen print with print our for someone viewing it, and I can get some answers to what I should do next. Thank you Mike

Can I lock the home page in Firefox?

Every time a Windows Update happens, my home page gets changed to Microsoft's awful Bing search page. It's annoying enough having to change it back on one computer, but I use several PC's so things become especially annoying.

Is there a way to prevent my home page from being changed without my consent?

Updated to Firefox 83 and now my browsing history in 'History' and in 'Show All History' will not delete despite my preference settings being correct and having tried deletion in all possible ways. Something is wrong because after I have clicked 'Clear Recent History' or closed Firefox with 'Delete on closing' selected, the preference page shows a change in the kb being used to store history, yet the browsing history has not been cleared. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or let Firefox know?

Using the website crave.ca, the browser fails to play the next video in the series and shows the error: "This video cannot be played because of a technical error.(Error Code: 202000)"

This error happens on Firefox, but not other browsers like Chrome. It happens both on Windows 10 and Fedora Workstation 33.

Looking at the jwplayer docs, it gives a bit more info, but not much (https://developer.jwplayer.com/jwplayer/docs/jw8-player-errors-reference)

Unknown error. This is generally caused by an unknown XHR error or an exception thrown while parsing the content; for more context we recommend checking the source error.

So, it sounds like a site coding error, but it seems strange that would be the case when other browsers are working fine. Any ideas how to get this working in Firefox?

Hi all,

When I search FF history and click on a link in the library, the link goes to the top of the library and I lose my position in the library.

Is there a setting so I retain my position in the search library. Chrome retains my position.

Steve

I moved from Chrome to Firefox this summer. Firefox on my MacBook Air worked fine until about three weeks ago, when many pages I regularly visited just fine previously stopped loading, loaded slowly, or loaded but many of the forms and buttons/links didn't work.

I'm running the latest version of Firefox. Before I try any of their recommended methods like refreshing, I wanted to see if this is a common thing and will hopefully be fixed in the next update, as I'd prefer not to set everything up again from scratch.

All of the pages that I've had problems with work fine in Chrome still, and I didn't make any changes to any Firefox or extension settings before this happened.

The two main extensions I use that I could see interfering with pages are uBlock Origin and HTTPS everywhere, but I didn't make changes to those and had been running them for months, since I started using Firefox again.

Thanks for reading and for any guidance that will help prevent me from effectively starting over.
