I am using the latest version of Firefox on a brand new IMac running 10.15.7. Since I got this new computer Firefox has been incredibly slow when accessing eBay. It can take forever to scroll through my image file to find an image to load on an eBay listing. When I try to scroll through the image file most of the time Firefox will freeze every 40-60 images and will not respond to the cursor movement for anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes at which point it comes to life for a few seconds and then freezes again. I can do most other things on eBay and other websites except loading images.

There is a second problem with Firefox. I frequently get the following error from eBay "https://www.ebay.com/n/error?statuscode=500. The problem is that this appears to be a Firefox issue. eBay directs me to go to home page and when I then try to reload the offending page I get the same error message over and over again, however if I close Firefox and re-start Firefox I can get to the page that generated the error message. I get the same problem with CanadaPost. Firefox gives me an error message telling me that the page doesn't exist. I closed Firefox and reload CanadaPost website and then I can get to the page.

This happens multiple times a day and only with Firefox. Other websites and other browsers don't have this problem.

I have a Windows 10 machine running Thunderbird 78.4.0 (32-bit). The end-user has a Comcast.net email address mapped and has been working well for several years now. Since Oct 19th they have reported that no new mail is arriving but they can send emails. I can log into the Xfinity website and see new mail. Thunderbird is not reporting issues with the protocol selection and looks to be connecting but not getting anything.

We have tried the following so far. 1.) Confirmed no outbound firewall. 2.) Turned off the Windows firewall. 3.) Confirmed no antivirus causing issues. 4.) Rebooted machine. 5.) Configured IMAP in place of POP. Both connect and neither shows new mail. 6.) Configured Microsoft email with matching settings - This works fine and downloads email without issue. 7.) Loaded Mailbird and configured email with same settings - This works fine and downloads email without issue. 8.) Confirmed no email filters are turned on in Thunderbird. 9.) Confirmed no "rules" are set up that would move email. 10.) Turned off all Add-Ons and booted into Safe Mode and still does not download email. 11.) Booted machine into safe mode with networking and issue still persists. 12.) We didn't try just throwing the account completely away in Thunderbird but we did create a matching one and it connected but didn't bring email down either. 13.) Confirmed no proxy settings. 14.) Tried their account in Thunderbird on another machine and it was able to download new emails.

Anyone has additional thoughts on what could be causing this. I tried to talk them into a new email client and they weren't having it since everyone uses it in the office.

Thanks,

John

I love the option to open pages in there native apps, but when I go back to FireFox the page is still there and goes back to the native app. Is it possible for FireFox to close the page once it opens the app?

Basically what's happening is I get an email from ebay. I click on a link and it goes to FireFox. Firefox opens a page then opens the ebay app. Works perfect. But if I go back to FireFox it'll open ebay again.

Thanks.

On Firefox desktop, I can bookmark any search engine and assign a keyword to it. Then, I can easily search using it with the keyword + search terms combination. For instance, I can bookmark Google search with the keyword "g", then search for restaurants through Google by typing "g restaurants" in the address bar.

On Firefox Android, I could reproduce the same behavior, until the beta update, when it stopped working. Manually adding a search engine through the settings menu and a %s string is way cumbersome and, many times, doesn't work, since some websites don't provide the address used for searching. Even when I can add a search engine, I have to manually browse through all of them, select the one I want, then, and only then, I can search.

The old way may look less intuitive, but on surface only. Adding a search engine was quick, easy, and most importantly, practical to use. Why can't both ways coexist?

Thanks in advance for the help.

When viewing a PDF document in firefox using PDF.js, I hit Ctrl+F to open a search dialog. Firefox's own search bar appears at the bottom of my screen. However, I want not Firefox's native search bar, but the PDF.js search tool. Firefox's search bar cannot search the entire PDF document. Instead, it searches only the currently viewed page or two.

I think this is a bug, and I would welcome any ideas or workarounds. Please let me know if I should post a bug report somewhere else. A cursory internet search didn't reveal any others reporting the same problem.

I Googled about stopping using Firefox beta and transition to release version but none of the pages I found in this forum talks about an error message about user profile that only gives me the option to Create a New Profile (therefore losing all my add-ons, cookies, settings and everything) or Exit.

I tried manually googling "download Firefox" and downloaded the release version and after installing it, I get the warning message above. This thread here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1224888 has a link to the rapid release version but I end up in the same warning message.

Since the beta will necessarily always be a newer version than a release version, how do I transition from beta to a release version but preserve all my settings, add-ons and everything if Firefox will tell me that it won't let me use my existing profile in an older version, the release version?

My motivation to leave the beta version is that Firefox started having a bug since 27-Oct-2020 in Google meetings where either a shared screen or the camera image of the person in a meeting appears very zoomed in in the top left corner so it doesn't show the rest of the image.

This new version is designed for a particular way of browsing. Is there a video that shows how to use the browser as the design intends? Right now, it's infuriating.

From what I can tell every saved URL opens as a new tab. Each Top Site, each item in Collections, each Bookmark all open as a new tabs. You can swipe side to side to change tabs, which is nice. So having a few tabs open is helpful when using this feature. But help me understand why we want every saved website open as a new tab....on a mobile phone?

Collections allows "Open Tabs". If you have 12 items in a collection.....it will open different 12 tabs. Why would you want to do this? Is this a strategy to help with ad revenue across the board?

I was transferring messages in my Thunderbird Inbox to a folder in Local Folders. I selected 4 messages that took up a total of 930 BYTES right clicked and chose to transfer to folder. I sat and waited for over one minute and the program acted like it had been given a lobotomy and hit with a taser. So after waiting a minute I disconnected the internet and closed the program. Then I ran a quick Defender scan searching for issues. Then I closed all programs and restarted the computer. When I got everything up and running again the messages were gone from the Inbox at the server and what was visible in Local Folders is totally useless. Subject shows nothing. Correspondents shows nothing. Date shows nothing. Preview pane shows nothing. The only thing visible is the reply arrow on one and the star on another. The star means it is an important message. When I choose them all the program tells me they take up the 930 bytes. What is taking up 930 bytes? I know what you are going to tell me. I "should have" copied to instead of moved to. If "move to" fails why is it offered. More importantly is there any way to get these messages back?

I need to export a collection of Firefox bookmarks from an old Android tablet. The latest version of Firefox that will run on this system is 68.0.2, which apparently did not have the ability to sync bookmarks or any option in the settings to export bookmarks. I would be happy if I could get the bookmarks in an HTML file or a plain text file. Or perhaps if I knew the directory in Android where Firefox stores the bookmarks, then I could copy it to a desktop computer.

This tablet will only run Android version 4.4.2. If I could find a way to view the support forums from a date when version 68 was still supported, I am sure I could find the answer myself.

Thanks very much! Lloyd
