I have tried multiple times to setup a new Outlook email to Thunderbird. I already have one setup and that's fine, but when trying to connect my new email account I keep getting the error

exchange auth error

I've tried everything to fix it.

The setup configuration all goes well, but then connection just won't happen. I've checked in Outlook and I have given Thunderbird permission but still it won't work.

I have the latest Thunderbird on my laptop. I have turned off the hub, but it still appears when I add an account. Sigh!

Please help!

Thunderbird keeps opening a Google authentication window, asking which account to use. I have two gmail accounts (both of which work just fine), and another google account that I manage a calendar for (it works fine as well). How do I work out which account is seeking authentication?

After moving my Thunderbird profile to a new computer none of my accounts can authenticate. I followed the instructions here: Move Thunderbird data to a new computer, using "An alternative method for manual transfer between Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers." What explains the response in the attached image, "Something went wrong," and how can I fix it? Happens when I click "Next", the first step to log it.

I have a related problem with other accounts set up in the profile. This one is using Oauth2. I tried switching to password, and hand a similar problem. I tested the connection to the server in Settings for the account and it was successful. Same for the others. They all authenticate successfully on my old computer.

As so many have experienced, but I have yet to find the actual solution, I will bring up the issue.

I recently purchased a new computer. Installed Thunderbird, created all the mail accounts I have and... no problems. All the accounts, once created, populated with emails. For 3-4 days, there were no issues.

Important to note: I let TB use all the default settings. And once everything was up and running >>>>I did not change anything<<<<<.

Then a few days later, I started getting the following messages for two accounts that had migrated from q.com to myctl.net. Entering the 100% proven-correct password results in the know endless-loop of entering the password and the same pop-up error message. The PW is 100% correct as I can go to Centurylinks' website and login using that same, exact password and read my emails.

I've spent enough time trying all the suggestions here, reddit, facebook etc so I'd thought I'd see if anyone has actually found a solution.

Hey, I want to set up my .gmx.de mail account in thunderbird (140.10.0esr (64-bit), Mozilla Thunderbird Snap for Ubuntu). it used to work, on my phone and the gmx website it is working. I did not change any of my credentials but suddenly it raised the "unable to log in to ..." error on my laptop only (Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS). After several tries I deleted the account and tried to set it up again from scratch. It finds a server profile which is consistent with the one on my phone (where it is working just fine) but login is not possible using the same password.

hi today thunderbird started showing yahoo popup login and after adding credentials i always get "something went wrong.We could not sign you in. Try again from a different device." Also popup once closed it opens instantly.

i can sign in normally from browser. thunderbird version is 147

is there any fix about this?

I am a lone software developer in my own office.

I do not store my passwords. I type them in every time I log in. It's the only way to remember passwords: type them in every time to reinforce memory.

I want to see my passwords when I type them. I don't want a click option to view them. I want to be able to see what I'm typing every time all the time.

I've been a contributor for a number of years. Please create an option to support my request.

If you need me to program the change, please let me know.  :-) I suspect that it is simply a matter of turning off a property on the entry field. This is my third request.

I wish to move away from MS outlook. I have installed Thunderbird desktop email client to my Imac apple desk top computer. When I run the installation software and input my gmail account details the system responds with an error "Authentication error". can you please help me to reconfigure the set up to resolve this problem. I have attempted to add a couple of accounts to thunderbird and I have used the correct passwords (they work on other programs) and I get an incorrect password or username flag.

Снес мозиллу, касперского, пробую заново создать почту, не дает, смотрите скриншот 1. Потов выдает ошибку смотрите скриншот 2. Вообще не могу понять что не так! На другом ПК все работает. переносил профиль с другого ПК на свой все тоже самое - ошибка авторизации. Куки разрешены, в исключения gmail.com добавил в Thunderbird Куда копать, что искать?

This morning I tried to sign in to my Credit Union account. I clicked on my sign-in name, nothing there. I went to my password for my Credit Union account & the entire password manager listing is blank. There are no accounts listed at all. Have someone stolen my information? Did I press something wrong to delete them? I'm 78 years old & not very computer knowledgeable. I have used Firefox for maybe 15 years old & have never had any kind of problem before. Kind I restore this part of my account?

I just started using Firefox (instead of Safari) and when I try to sign into some of my websites (e.g. banking) they want to send my a security code to verify it is me. I NEVER get those text messages/SMS. Most of the times I found a work-around, like having them email the code, but for my bank they only will send it as a text message. Is it some setting I need to adjust in Firefox?

I am trying to add one of my Google email accounts to Thunderbird. It brings up the "Sign in with Google" window, which is normal. But instead of "Sign in to continue to Google...", it says "Sign in to continue to Mozilla Thunderbird Email". Which then generates an error: "Error 400. The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried. That’s all we know." I've not ever experienced this issue before; adding a Google account has always been super easy and straightforward.
