Unable to re-install gmail account in Thunderbird. Error 400 malformed server.

Two gmail accounts could not access the server. deleted one and tried to re install it without success.The accounts and passwords were not in the "saved passwords" in settings. The accounts and passwords for comcast are there and those accounts work fine.

\i seems that following some recent updates now when I open Thunderbird the screen displays the menu displaying "Inbox" AND A MESSAGE AT THE BOTTOM " sending login information" but it just hangs there. I uninstalled TB and re installed it with no difference. TB works fine on my laptop. Same server settings.

The Notifications Bar seems to be missing from the top of an email message that is being shown below the list of messages. So there is no "Options" box where it is usually shown, on the Notifications Bar, so that I can manage Remote Content in the message being shown.

Hello, I am on the latest version of Thunderbird on a Windows 11 computer. Previously with a Windows 10 computer I had no problem spell checking e-mails in French. However with a new Windows 11 laptop the French dictionary although installed shows as not loaded on the dashboard and unsurprisingly does not function. I have restarted both Thunderbird and the laptop. No result. Any advice most welcome.

I believe that version 145.0, newly installed on the 9th December, 2025 was showing server folders correctly; the server folder name matched the client folder name.

After upgrading to 146.0 on the 10th December, the server folder names for some folders are displaying with different client folder names.

The IMAP account has both "spam" and "junk" folders, Thunderbird is now displaying both as "Spam", you can only determine which folder is which by showing folder properties. It appears to users that there are two "Spam" folders now and not the two distinct folders with their own names.

Similar behaviour is happening for "Sent" and "Sent Messages" folders, both now display as "Sent".

These changes are confusing, the client sees two "Spam" folders and two "Sent" folders instead of the original proper server folder names.

Why has the display name for these folders changed?

How can I get TB to display the real underlying folder names?

Tried to setup gmail account manually. Couldn't verify username and/or password. Thunderbird just opened a window with an URL in plain text and did nothing. In version 149.0.1, the calendar layout seems to have changed so that, in the week view, the days are rows instead of columns. Is there a way to change to days being columns? The new layout really does not work for my events. I have short events that now can't be read at all because the event is too short to display any part of the event title.

I can't logg in to the server - see the attached message.

I don't understand because I give all information to my e-mailaccount: PROTON.

Are there another information needed?

I can't find a contact person, and the Mozilla account name has been changed. Is that normal?

Question: There was a number after my email address, like "Email" and "1954." Who is that? Is that normal?

Questions: Thunderbird Portable The archive option isn't updating? How long does the backup take?

Different Thunderbird versions display a programmed year date in the archive option. For example, 2021 in one program and 2024 in another. Is that normal? I can't change anything.

It's as if it's accessing some kind of backup and maybe even sharing it, and I don't know what's correct.

Update Channel Ellipse Update Channel esr. Previously, there were different channels. Isn't another channel better? I've read that it's more stable than switching. Is that true? Information regarding the question below?

I'm losing a school email account due to graduation. TB is set up to sync, so an email deleted remotely also is deleted on my PC. How do I stop that, or at least copy the emails I have? Thank you.

I have Thunderbird version 149.0.1 installed and set up to display the Classic View, showing the Folder pane, Message List Header pane, and the Message pane. I have two accounts - my email account and Local Folders. All my email is routed to the Local Folders for storage on the PC. I have a number of messages in the Local Folders Inbox, and the headers show in the Message List Header pane. This message header is marked as read, and as spam, but I can not do anything with it. I can not change the status (either to unread, or not span), nor can I delete it. The actual message appears to have been deleted - if I select the header, the Message pane is either blank, or displays the message previously selected. If I open the message a new tab, the contents are blank, and if I select View Message Source, that window is empty (blank). I have restarted Thunderbird several, once in Windows safe mode, and that header remains. I can read all the other messages in the Inbox, change their status, or delete them. The attached image shows the shows the message in question as selected.

How do I delete that (@#$I*@%#@$%) message header? Thanks to anyone who can help!

Having tried more than a dozen sets of downloaded instructions, including those from Mozilla Thunderbird and Apple, I have become increasingly frustrated and convinced that Thunderbird doesn't work on a MAC. Can you offer any "official" instructions? Thank you!

Hi. I have several email accounts & I would like to temporarily disable one of them in my desktop version of Thunderbird email, so that those emails stop coming in. But I don't want to get rid of it entirely. Is there a way, or can you suggest anything, please? I am running an older version of Thunderbird, 115.18.0esr, as there were some things I didn't like about the newer version. Kind regards, Jo

I have followed your instructions at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer and gotten nowhere all day. on it. You have "Profile Folders", a folder called "Profiles", a bunch of profiles (folders) inside the Profiles folder and profiles in Roaming and in Local paths. When I get the old profile 'k41******' copied to the new computer in both the Roaming folder and the Local folder the Thunderbird program still will not show me the old files. I don't need any of the thousands of emails in the old computer, just the Templates in one account. This should be easy. I should just copy the profile k41***** ect. and paste it into the "Profiles" (notice the pleural there) and then Thunderbird should work. But it does not.

For 4 days, I have been unable to send an email. There is no "send" option. Also, in past, when composing an EM, my complete address book as been available in a column on page left. Sorry to bother. I have been trying to add my Outlook account for about 30 minutes now. Normally, I would use the beloved legacy account creator, but that doesn't exist anymore.

But no matter what I do, I can't log in to my account. And I am pretty damn sure I got my login correct since I managed to log in to the website and all other devices with it.

And the error message is also seriously amiguous. I just need someone to help me through this..

Moving from a Win 10 machine with TB ver 102.15.1 (64-bit) (Old I know but I still dislike the "new" interface and it still works) to new machine using Mint 22.3 Cinnamon with TB 140.9 esr (64 bit) - (biting the interface bullet)

Copied over the content of the profile folder to the existing profile folder on the new machine. Mail files are in ImapMail directory and mail functions normally.

All local folders came over but under mail I have 3 directories: Local Folders non networked Local Folders smart mailboxes all the local folders accessible through the old client are located in the non networked... directory

These local folders are not showing through the new client. I see just deleted and outbox, which presumably corresponds to the trqash and unsent messages files in the Local Folders directory on the new machine.

I have a vague memory that about 18 months ago I looked into whether or not I could place the local folders on a network drive, so that they would be on one of my NAS drives that gets backed up automatically but I didn't think that I had done anything about this.

Question therefore: Is this a version issue, an OS issue or something else entirely causing me to not see the local folder content in the Mint client? & How do I correct this?
