I've already asked a question and a response from david told me to delete one of the two Junk folders under one of my Email addresses. There's nothing in either of them at the moment so how do I know which one to delete?

Thank you. Mark

I upgraded Thunderbird a few days ago to 141.0 (64 bit). Today, I note the spam folders in both of my email accounts are missing. So where is spam email going? Is the software automatically routing it into the JUNK folder? If not, how do I resurrect my spam folders?

I get a lot of phishing emails. I usually forward them to various banks and businesses so the phishers can be stopped. However, now, Thunderbird thinks that I have been found to be a sender of spam--- therefore, I am blocked from forwarding almost everything (even if it is legitimate business !!). Oh how I would love to get my hands on a phisher; they have made a mess out of regular good people's lives. How can I get removed from Thunderbird's scam list. I'm not a scammer, spammer, phisher.

After using them for a while it becomes evident that POP accounts do not show the SPAM folder.

What can I do to fix that easily?

Thank you.

I've turned off all spam detection to the best of my ability, but sometimes messages end up in the Spam folder. Unfortunately, the folder looks empty until I actually select it. As a consequence, legitimate messages have languished there for days until I remember to click on the Spam folder.

Anything I can do to fix this?

I wish I could turn off online content for any message that is in a junk or spam folder. I tend to have online content on and it would be tedious to whitelist every sender as messages come in. While a message is in a spam folder there's a very good chance I don't need online content. If I remove from spam then the default of showing online content should be OK

I'm running Thunderbird 140.2.0esr (64-bit) under Windows 10, and prior to the last few days everything has been running normally. I have three POP/SMTP accounts, which work in all respects, except for the Junk folder in only one of the accounts. Thunderbird marks a junk mail in that account as Junk, but leaves it in the Inbox. When I try to transfer it manually into the proper Junk folder I get the message in the first attached snapshot.

The Junk folder for the subject account shows Properties per the second attached snap. The location for the Junk file is missing, which is probably why this situation is giving me grief.

What is the procedure for giving the Junk folder for that account a proper name? This had been working fine, but just seems to have developed amnesia. I tried compacting all folders and doing a 'repair' on this Junk folder, as recommended in the message, but that didn't help. Oh, and that Junk folder in the left pane has a black icon, whereas the working accounts have red ones (third snapshot).

Many thanks for any tips!

Currently, when setting up spam filters, Thunderbird allows one to to set a condition. Would it not be possible to add an AND field to that. For example, I often get spam emails of the form "BankName interest rate changes". While I can set a filter to ignore any Subject that contains the work BankName it does not help if BankName is my actual bank. It would be useful to be able to create a filter such as: Send to junk if subject contains BankName AND email does not contain BankName.com.

Just a suggestion.

Many thanks -Ian

TB has recently started marking good mail as junk, even while it delivers junk to my inbox. Mail from my security app, the USPS, Washington Post, my wife and newsletters I have subscribed to now require a daily search for where TB put them.

I have been through the Suggestion in the help section. I have checked, unchecked, retrained, reloaded TB, restarted and every other suggestion made in any reply to the increasing pile on complaints on this topic. TB's notice of my monthly contribution to TB was delivered as Junk.

Nothing affects anything that TB is doing. It is not my server. It is not my settings. Recently replace my laptop, also my wife's. Both transferred from the old computers to the latest and greatest that Windows and TB had to offer. That was the start of the problem.

Can this be fixed? Would it help to revert to an older version?

I have attached a screenshot of my Thunderbird. You will see that in the Junk section there is a Hotmail folder with the same icon as Inbox. The contents of this folder is actually the same as Inbox. If I "empty junk" the contents of my Inbox get deleted. How do I remove this duplicate Inbox from the Junk section? Although it doesn't really matter, how do I remove the duplicate BT Internet junk folder?

Have a folder on my yahoo webmail account with >100K emails accumulated over time. The emails are of no lasting value

I just received a notification (via a banner on yahoo webmail when I log in) that my storage is full (never seen this before, but not surprised that Yahoo would be looking for "additional storage" revenue - not interested.)

I'm attempting to delete the emails in this (large) folder (which are of no lasting value), so far with no success.

The initial problem is that yahoo's functions to expunge (permanently remove) the emails (after moving them to their trash folder) does not work (either 0% progress overnight, or progressing 0-100% progress, in either case all of the emails remain in their trash folder and I continue to be notified (by the banner at sign-in) that email storage is full (and I do not wish to purchase any additional storage from yahoo.) As this is a non-premium yahoo account, no support exists.

It appears that yahoo webmail does not expose their trash folder via imap (it appears empty on imap view). Thunderbird "empty trash" on the hosted Trash folder shows no contents and completes immediately with "emptied trash".

I've now tried moving emails from yahoo's trash folder to another (new) folder on yahoo webmail, then using thunderbird imap to move those emails from yahoo to a local folder. My expectation was that "move" means gone from server, present on client. That appears not to be the case.

While this step does create a local copy, a copy appears to be left in yahoo's trash folder which still cannot be removed, so the core problem (of their impact on yahoo webmail storage) is unresolved.

I understand that "expunge" exists in IMAP but I don't see how this can be used with Thunderbird.

As I'm somewhat going in circles trying to solve this problem, I'm reaching out here for advice.

Thanks

I have an account with CreditKarma and when they send me email it always ends up in my Spam folder. I "think" the problem is that they send email from multiple variations of their email address. I have gotten them as notifications@mail9.creditkarma.com, notifications@creditkarma.com, mail@mail16.creditkarma.com, mail@mail9.creditkarma.com, mail@mail3.creditkarma.com, etc. I think it is that variations that is causing the issue and was wondering if there was a way to train email with a wildcard ? Thanks

ps I am going to send CreditKarma email and ask them about it as well. I do have Norton 360 running, but CK is the only email that gets handled like this so I don't think it is that. Or if there is a way to get a message filter to run on my Spam folder ....
