After updating Thunderbird to Ver 78, I can no longer send or receive messages using my internet service provider att.net. I'm guessing it's because Thunderbird's improved security protocalls are not compatible with those used by att.net. Is it possible to install Ver 68 in order to go back to security protocalls that were compatible with att.net ? I can send and receive emails with no problems using the att.net web page.

I'm working on a website for a client and all of a sudden I can't load any single page on that site only. I was just logged into to the dashboard and making changes. Now I can't even load a page.

The error is a cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi for any page I attempt to load. This is also happening on chrome on the same desktop computer.

I can load and login to the dashboard on both my phone and my laptop on the same wireless network without issue. I tried everything I know how. Cleared the cache and history, flushed the dns, reinstalled firefox, etc and this error will simply not go away.

At one point it was saying the security certificate was expired (it's not) and tried to add an exception but that didn't work either. Back to the cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi

I'm out of ideas and totally frustrated. Please help!!! lol

Hello. I have been using Thunderbird on my Windows 8 pc for many years. Today, Thunderbird (TB) was acting screwy.

After launching TB, I kept getting multiple pop-up windows asking me to sign into Yahoo. As far as I know, I have no Yahoo account. While this was going on, I was unable to send any emails with TB. Every time I tried, a pop-up window would ask me to sign into my Yahoo account (which doesn't exist as far as I know).

In order to try and resolve this problem, I entered my email address and ISP log-in in the Yahoo pop-up window. I stopped getting pop-ups asking me to sign into Yahoo, and I was now able to use TB and send emails.

I then received one email message from Yahoo telling me "Your Yahoo account [my email address] was used to sign in to a new third party application on thunderbird." I don't understand this: 1) afaik, I have no Yahoo account; 2) I don't know what is meant by "a new third party application".

The email went on: "If this wasn’t you, please use this link to revoke third party access to your account, and change your password. You can also revoke access to thunderbird by going to yahoo.com and navigating to the Recent Activity tab under Account Info."

So now I am even more confused. Is my email account hacked? I do not want unknown third parties to access my email account.

My questions: 1) Why is Yahoo involved with my use of TB? 2) Why does Yahoo seem to think I have a Yahoo account, when I don't think I have one? 3) Has my email on TB been hacked? Do I need to change my password? 4) What does it mean that my "Yahoo account [my email address] was used to sign in to a new third party application on thunderbird." What is a "third party application on TB"?

If anyone can explain this to me, I appreciate it. I guess the good news is TB now appears to work normally and I can use it to send emails, and I no longer get pop-up windows telling me to sign into Yahoo.

Thx. jmp

I have used Firefox and Thunderbird for several years but now I am unable to use Yahoo because of ?Thunderbird being unsecure? So anyway I can't get signed in anymore. I have read everything I can find on the web sites about how to log in but as I read and follow directions I always get to a critical spot where a function/icon/option/ is not available to me. So I'm dead in the water again. I am using Firefox version 83 and Thunderbird version 78, the latest downloads and Windows 10. I guess I'm not very smart on the computer but my question is 'can anybody give me precise instructions how to comply with the Yahoo security snafu? Right now I am using Yahoo until I can find out something about Thunderbird and I hate Yahoo. Secondly is Mozilla fixing the Thunderbird program so it will seamlessly log in?

Any help will be appreciated. My email address is: gaylon.smith@sbcglobal.net

So, I'm using Thunderbird 78.5.0 (32-bit).

Recently, it keeps telling my my password for my hotmail.co.uk email is wrong.

It's not; I can login directly to hotmail (outlook) without issue.

The thunderbird profile has always been imap, and I've tried resetting the password, but that doesn't work. It must be a recent change or a non-obvious setting?

Any help appreciated.

It appears that google gmail does not allow thunderbird anymore. I could choose the "less secure apps" option but I do not want other apps that might want to join the party. I saw no option on google to allow just TB and disallow other "less secure apps" . It started when Google alerted me that one of my passwords was compromised. I don't know and probably won't ever know if it was Thunderbird that was compromised, or if something else. I had to delete all the passwords on google and start from scratch. When I deleted my google application passwords, and changed my google password. When I tried to log back in with thunderbird, google would not accept the request from Thunderbird. All thunderbird did was show me a log in page where I could enter my password (which i did correctly thank you very much) but it did not say "rejected by google" or that it was incorrect. It just cleared the entry line and asked again. It took me a lot of time to figure out that google was the problem and not thunderbird. But now I see it is a failing of thunderbird not keeping up with security measures.

My suggestion is that when this happens, thunderbird should alert the user that the log in is not succeeding because google is rejecting it instead of letting the user think that they did something wrong. I say this because it is just frustrating to try to log in and not know why it isn't working.

email is such an important service that I would rather do without all the nice features of thunderbird than have to go through this security breach issue ever again.

thanks to all the people that work on thunderbird, and I hope you can fix it. If it ever gets fixed, I would like to use it again, but for now, it just doesn't make any sense.

When I try to access this US military site, https://www.tricareonline.com/portal/page/portal/TricareOnline/Portal I get a warning that this site can't be trusted. I then get a notice to override Firefox if I trust the site. I get a certificate, override, and finally get the site. But this has happened a half dozen or so times, every time I try to log in to the military site. How can I log into this site without the annoying warnings?

Thanks, Donald Sullivan

A newspaper website asked if I wanted to tell them my location. Firfox popped up and asked if I wanted to automatically tell sites that ask my geographic location. I clicked and got more information. There was a section that gave instructions to permanently disable geographic location tracking. I followed the directions to disable, even though the default is no tracking. I had to type an two words with a : separating them into the address bar. This brought me to a long list of settings. I followed the directions but now it seems my location is being tracked by everyone.

How do I get back to this list of settings (which was not accessed through Options) to go back to the default?
