The Thunderbird ver 78 update file has downloaded to my laptop, but I don't want to install it. I've seen it on my other laptop - just don't like it as it removed an add-on I loved. (I had set my updates to allow TB to update by itself - have now changed that to "ASK ME")

Every time I open TB, it asks me to update from 68 to 78 and I have to answer no.

How can I remove the ver78 update file so it doesn't keep on bothering me? Where is it?

(I'm familiar with the location of all the TB files, and I have copied the entire Thunderbird folder to a backup.)

Thanks! Arleen

Hi, I've followed the instructions closely to migrate my profile onto another machine. Everything is there, all emails and settings are correct for incoming and outgoing servers. I have 2 windows 10 PC's with identical Thunderbird installations. The original one works fine, but the new one cannot receive emails - status just says '(email address) connected to mail.livemail.uk' and stays there.

The only difference is that the new version is 78.0.1 32 bit and the old one is 68.10.0 32 bit Has any kind soul got some ideas? Thanks Chris

Hi, I am running the french FF 79.0 64 bit I just started to download the latest iso of debian 10.5 from the official Mirror and got the FF warning that it contains a virus. I am not sure if you have a team to check false positive as this is the official site and that it was released only yesterday https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/amd64/iso-dvd/debian-10.5.0-amd64-DVD-1.iso and I am getting worried after I got this message. Thank you in advance. Regards, Stephane

Hello out there,

I have the following problem: After migrating to a new Windows 10 system, I have installed Thunderbird and tried to copy the old profile to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\ . But this did not work. Is there any possibility to retrieve the old mails out from the cache directory? (I cannot find any directory named "Mail" in the old profile directory). Only files in ..\cache2\entries\ do exist in the old profile directory named like "0F1BD59BAFF256E9D4F544F25D7B0A294C027A61"... Any ideas? Also a definitive negative answer is appreciated so that I can stop trying....

Error: "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account." when adding my protonmail.com account!

When I login to my Protonmail account my username is "username1" NOT "username1@protonmail. Is this causing my problem? Following advice on the forum I clicked "Advanced" to edit the server but it simply DISAPPEARED! Then I noticed that it had added the account but when I tried to read my mail I got "could not connect to email server - connection refused". I have tried editing the server to SSL/TTS BUT THAT DOESN'T HELP.

Maybe I am having trouble figuring out just which entried TB uses for "username" and "password" - it seems to be finding the server OK! I'll attach some screen shots of my current settings.

Since updating to the 'new look' TB I have an issue with a blurry screen. When you select an Account from the left side of the screen at the top of the folders, the information is blurred as you can see from the attached screenshot.

The messages in the folders are all clearly displayed and other areas of display don't have any problems, it is only since updating to the 'new' folder look that appears to have created this blurry image.

Someone suggested that I adjust the Windows ClearType settings which I did, but that didn't make any difference and the problem still exists. I have also just updated to the new 78.1.0 version today (1st August) but I still have the same blurry problem.

Any suggections or should this be logged as a bug ?

Hello

I have copied my Thunderbird profile from the D:\ drive on my old computer to a folder on the D:\ drive on my new computer.

I installed Thunderbird on my new computer, closed the options to set up the accounts, as advised on one of the Mozilla videos.

I then closed Thunderbird, created a new profile, linking to the xxxxxxxx.default folder on the D: drive of my new computer. Then ticked the radio box to "Use the selected profile without asking at startup".

Thunderbird has opened and all my email folders are showing. This is great because it has taken a lot of time to get this far.  :o)

However, when I click on get "Get messages", an error comes up in the bottom right of my screen stating "Could not connect to mail server imap.gmail.com The connection was refused".

This was expected because I have not provided my password anywhere to access my emails from google mail. I have tried unsuccessfully to find where I can provide my password permit this.

Please would someone kindly help me. I am using the latest version of Thunderbird &8.0 (32-bit) on Windows 10.

Many thanks

Martin

Hello to all, I upgraded Thunderbird on my Windows 10 laptop from 68.10 to 78.01 and can't see any address books. Is this upgrade suppose to keep and display your address books? I tried to follow all recommendations that I could find and nothing helped. I even tried to export my address books from my second Windows 10 pc and import to PC 1, and I still couldn't see anything. Finally I had to uninstall (and delete all directories) all versions from laptop 1 and copy everything from laptop 2. Now I'm back on version 68.10 and everything seems to be OK. Is there a bug in conversion to 78.01? Thanks, Yuri

I was prompted to upgrade (to ver 78) by a new Security program. I now want to go back to my earlier ver 68 Thunderbird program. I did so and it created a new profile and all 50+ subfolders are not there. I reinstalled older version. It would not accept older profile as said new version had changed profile.

I do not probably have old profile ini. I just have new profile.ini. I tried to use profile manager to use each of three defaults. None created old mail folder structure.

I do have huge old folder with all my emails, subfolders and many other files called '7xbt88d9h.default '

Is there a way to import this into my old (ver 68) thunderbird that I want to go back to?

Hi;

Have Thunderbird v78.0.1 (32bit). Tried importing items, (EML format), from Windows Live Mail v2011 Build 15.4.

Used Thunderbird's built in Import Tool. Kept getting: "Can't find other e-mail programs" even though Live Mail is still installed.

Downloaded importexporttools_ng-4.1.0-tb.xpi AND importexporttools-3.3.2-sm+tb(1).xpi. Both show "Not for v78.0.1".

Would someone kindly point me in the right direction so that I can Import Windows Live Mail Accounts & E-Mails into Thunderbird v78.0.1 (32bit)?

Thank You.

Just upgraded from very old 45.6 version of TB to 78.0. All messages in ALL mailboxes are now blank.

I quickly backed up the entire profile folder so haven't lost any data because I can still run the old version on the original profile. I'm just testing the new 78.0 version with a copy of the old profile.

I have tried various listed remedies such as deleting all the .msf files, or manually editing the X-Mozilla-Status values. None of this works. All of the message headers still show, and the e-mails are truly there in the mail box files (e.g. "Inbox") if I open them with a text editor, but they all show blank in the new version of TB.

Is there some incompatibility with the two versions (45.6 vs 78.0)?

Is there anything I can do to get the new version of TB working with the old profile?

I have two imap accounts configured in TB that do not exist on the server any longer. I am trying to get TB to stop checking them since it causes error messages to pop up. Currently using TB 68.10.0. In the two accounts under server settings I have unchecked 'check for new messages at start up', 'check for new every x min', and 'allow immediate server notifications', but at start up I'm still getting error messages.

Other accounts are working fine, as expected.

What might I be missing?
