Firefox is very slow after the last update; as I 'm typing the letters in this note now, letters appear very slow on my screen, scrolling is just as slow and very irritating with f.i. using gmail or any website, changing a screen takes ages. I've tried every suggestion given by the supportcenter. Uninstalled adobe flashplayer, refreshed firefox, uninstalled and re-installed firefox several times without having any positive results.

Who can help me?

Everything is sloooooowwwww. Even keyboard. Just ran anti-virus and malware scans. INTERNET EXPLORER WORK ING FINE!! Therefore, I don't think it's my computer. Since switching to Firefox - I like it better. Would rather fix Firefox than switch back to Internet Explorer. Have been getting "scripts" messages occasionally - but this terrible slowness started suddenly 2 days ago.

No matter if a newstart with firefox in secure mode with deactivated addons should maybe fix this slowness problem, firefox 38.0.1 works not well in comparison to firefox 37.0.2 or some mozilla firefox update-versions before ! Within the last a half a year all firefox updates down to firefox 36 were working well to all plugins and addons.

I've retrofitted as it were 38.0 which performs in precisely the same manner, now. I have huge lag times when typing in the search field, and incredibly slow page load. IE is performing perfectly (well, as perfectly as a connection with known current ssues in this node - but that's an ISP issue). I've tried a totally fresh install of both 38.0 and 38.01 removing all traces of Firefox via run/ %appadata%, everything Firefox-related from the HD (x64 program folder etc) and I'm stumped. IE is loading a little slowly but as stated before, known issue with my connection at times. Even using Firefox functions say within the options menu is taking 7-10 seconds to bring up. A new tab is taking, again, seconds to open.

I *was* running Adblock Plus 2.6.9, BetterPrivacy 1.68, EPUBReader 1.5.0.6, Norton Toolbar 2014.7.12.14, NoScript 2.6.9.22, Self-Destructing Cookies 0.4.7, StumbleUpon 4.19 and Xmarks 4.3.6. Only the Norton Toolbar was disabled upon auto-update, which I enabled. Then I disabled every add-on which did nothing. I did try re-installing 38.01 without the full brainwipe first in case I had a corrupted file, but...well, no change, ditto with two virgin installs of 38.01 and then 38.

I've just run a full system Norton scan - just 33 tracking cookies from IE (ugh). There's not a lot I can add having acted somewhat hastily in just wiping everything - but in my defence I've always been able to fix any FF niggles/annoyances myself (not scared to go into the guts when necessary to change values sanely from authoritative sources) when they've occurred. Usually a fresh install does the trick if things start looking really bad, once or twice over the years I've had to totally purge and start afresh but this is the first time that I've had that not work at all...

I know there's probably nothing anybody can suggest especially but I'm hoping!

After updating to Firefox 38.0.1, Firefox has been unusable. There's around a 5 second delay to anything I do. Disabling everything didn't fix things. Reinstalling and refreshing also did not do anything. When Firefox runs in safe mode, it works fine though. Any ideas?

I am not sure if I have a virus or some update has firefox hanging? Within the last week something has changed so that when I try to go to tools -> options Firefox tries to open a new tab. I actually just looked up the latest updates to Firefox and it updated to 38.0.1 about 2 days ago and that is when I started having problems. At this point Firefox just hangs (Not Responding). I tried running Firefox in safe mode and it still hangs. I went into about:config and changed the browser.preferences.inContent and at first I thought that fixed it but over the past day it still crashes when I try to view the options window/tab. I can open up Yahoo and Hotmail mail sites which open new tabs so it isn't just opening a new tab. I have run Malwarebytes and Norton Anti-virus and nothing major was found.

If I type about:preferences in the address bar it also hangs. It never fully crashes so there aren't crash reports. It just hangs and says not responding. If I do control+Alt+delete is also says not responding.

Any ideas?

Firefox v 38.0.1 is installed. I have already uninstalled, reinstalled, and done a "Refresh" so I am running no add-ons. AVG is installed on the computer, but even when disabled, the same thing happens. When I launch Firefox, the window shows up in a normal amount of time, but the default start page comes up very slowly. Clicking into the address bar registers slowly. Typing in the address bar shows up slowly. The webpage begins to load slowly, and then pops up nearly all loaded. Then the non-flash image slider loads very slowly. Clicking the X registers in a normal amount of time, but then the "Confirm Close" dialog comes up slowly. Nothing ever hangs, it's just all very slow. I can launch IE, let the blank homepage load, click into the address bar, go to Yahoo, and let it fully load in 10 seconds. The same process in FF takes 47 seconds. Both CPU and memory utilization remain very low throughout the whole process, and no proxy servers are enabled. Any thoughts?

I noticed this first with a Google Sheet that was slow to update. It seems to be getting worse and when I have multiple tabs, many do not refresh. Additionally, when I am looking at a page like Google News and scroll down, many times the entire center column is a black box and does not always load images.

I have tried refreshing and it did not help. I started in Safe Mode and it seems to be much better so I am guessing it is a problem with add-ins? I am currently scanning for malware as well.

Any suggestions?

So...suddenly my Firefox (v. 38.0.1) is really laggy, with slow-to-respond buttons, scrolling etc. So I manually disable all addons, but to no avail. Then I try safe mode and it runs fine. Great. So I enable my addons again one by one, until they're all enabled and it's still running fine. My conclusion: it can't be the addons. What could it be that's causing this? I have updated all my addons and only have Silverlight, Flash, Google updater, Shockwave and a couple of others. One solution would be for this mode - Safe with addons running - to be my default startup mode, but I can't work out how to do that. It's no huge problem because I can make Firefox run fine, but it's a bit time consuming. Any ideas?
