Hi There:

I have a lot of bookmarks in Firefox. Some of them are outdated and no longer work.

On this page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-delete-bookmark#w_deleting-a-single-bookmark it describes two ways to delete a bookmark. I've tried both. Neither one works. Suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Mike.

My bookmark list is very large due to multiple imports from other browsers, syncing and not managing. There are currently well over 1200 bookmarks in my toolbar. I am trying to delete the majority of them. I have tried to backup and export before I do this, and have been unable. Firefox won't create any files. I have tried all other suggestions on the forum, stopping sync, Verifying the Integrity, renaming the places.sqlite file, and also refreshing and re-installing Firefox. Nothing works. I also find that Firefox is consistently using over 50% of CPU resources. So the program feels very sluggish. I will post the Verify integrity log below.

I'm currently running Firefox for Android 87.0.0. I only upgraded about 3 weeks ago and have been staying on 67 or 68 for a long time JUST to keep my Bookmarks home page. Lately I thought I would give 87 a try and try to get used to it. It is faster and more stable but I just can't get used to the lack of my old homepage. I want to start my browser and see my bookmarks right there. Why was this taken out anyway? I heard Firefox popularity dropped. Perharps you should not remove our favorite settings.. :/ Please put it back guys .. Daniel

OK, I'm having a LOT of trouble with my sync, and bookmark archiving. If I export my bookmarks as html, and import them, none are in folders anymore! As far as I can tell, asking Firefox to "restore" from a particular date does something similar. The only way I understand to back up my bookmarks, and more them to another machine in an organized way is with the Profile folder (and profile.ini file). When I share that folder and that file, everything is copied exactly, and organized properly. So that being the case, what the h are "backup", "restore", "import" and "export" useful for?

If there some writeup on EXACTLY how to manage bookmark backups in Firefox? I've never seen one. You'd like to believe that when you "restore" your bookmarks, they end up organized the way they were originally.

Hi, I am asking for your help in addition to your patience as I am not a tech savvy person AT ALL.

That being said, Firefox installed a new version of the browser last night as it has done many times over the years I have used their browser. Nothing looked different until I wanted to bookmark a website.

When I click on bookmarks, it use to have the option which said (I think) "bookmark this page" which is how I have always saved pages. That option is no longer there, it is gone. I do not make changes on this computer on my own. I do not know what I'm doing and have no one to help so if I were to mess something up, I'm in trouble.

I did read through posts before asking for help, went to the help section Firefox has. I went to the page which says Troubleshoot & diagnose Firefox problems. As I went through each step, nothing changed so I reinstalled Firefox. Obviously it did not change the issue I am having.

I am very careful when I get online; I don't click on links, pop up ads, etc. ever! Is there anyone who can help as I do not know what to do, and again, have no one I can ask or go to for help. I am attaching a screenshot which gives the info on the version of FF I have. I thank you all for your time and am keeping my fingers crossed this is a simple fix!

I reinstalled Win10, clean install. Reinstalled Firefox, v88 and imported my bookmarks (.json). Took a while (36.4Mo) but they got imported and I got to sort the latest bookmarks them into folders and tags while I transferred files from a hard drive. Trimmed them to 31 Mo and saved a backup. Exited firefox. Later I launch firefox to install addons and notice all my latest bookmarks have vanished. All my tags are gone too.

When I check to restore my backup, I have the choice between - today's automated backup (11 Mo; 110.000 items) 100.000 items, that is, half of my bookmarks. - ... or my manual save I did. Restoring my manual save returns the bookmarks and tags. But they disappear when I exit firefox. Sitting for half a hour for my bookmarks to load each time I launch firefox is not a solution. I estimate there's 70k to 100k links and 1k tags missing.

I have one only profile. Fresh, latest FF, no addons. No clue too.

I'm trying to find a way to put my bookmark library into a table/excel so I can do date-accessed analysis. I can see the date columns in the library view in firefox, but need to be able to manipulate so I see only sites accessed in 2019. I don't know java, SQL, or any other coding/database language, other than Excel lookup formulas. Any tools/suggestions welcome.

The following css used to work to remove items from Bookmarks menu:

#bookmarksToolbarSeparator,#bookmarksMenuItemsSeparator{display: none !important;}
#bookmarksToolbarSeparator,#organizeBookmarksSeparator{display: none !important;}
#bookmarksToolbarSeparator,#menu_bookmarkAllTabs{display: none !important;}

It no longer works in FF88. How to fix?

N.B. There wasn't a way to hide "other bookmarks" from the bookmarks MENU (This has nothing to do with the unrelated TOOLBAR issue, and the settings for that do not affect the menu)

As said: Bookmarks only visible in new tab, by default.

Why are all those anti-usability features made so regularly, after every update? Why does Mozilla has a thing for bad design choices in general?

Is there a specific reason for this? Just horrible designers, or bad intend?

Fix for this particular problem: Menu bar => Customize => at the bottom switch 'toolbar' to 'bookmarks' => always show.

Continuation of this thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1310388?page=2#answer-1386708 which I didn't reply to for a while and got archived

Ever since the issue I had with tabs not being restored I've taken to simply bookmarking everything I might need later which has resulted in a large number of Bookmarks

Soon after this I noticed my History wasn't being saved beyond 7 days and thought this might be due to the bookmarks competing for resources with the history

I checked places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages and it's value is 98675

My disk space fluctuates but it never usually dips below 10GB

I'm tried everything I can find online and nothing works. I'm at my wits end here. I exported my bookmarks to HTML on Mac1 across my network, copied them to Mac2 and now I can import them into Firefox, but I cannot get them into the toolbar no matter what I do or which solutions I try to use from online and it's driving me nuts!
