I recently hat some issues with one of my accounts. At first some random mails disappeared right after receiving them, which made me question my sanity. Last week, I was able to witness a mail being recieved, appearing in search results, disappearing in the client and disappearing the mail from the server about a minute later.

While I was still wondering about this and looking for solutions (I tried the "Repair Folder" last week), I found no apparent changes, until yesterday, when about 9 months worth of emails turned into thin air. (Not in the inbox, not in the trash, not in the archive or on the server). Fortunately our IT department has backups and could also confirm my suspicion that the deletion was issued from Thunderbird.

I think there is a severe bug somewhere, but at the current moment I don't have the smallest clues to write a useful bugreport. Where would you start collecting evidence for this?

(Running Thunderbird, version=128.6.0, on Windows10, when this happened)

Hello, We have problem with sending and receiving e-mails. Sometimes Thunderbird just stops receiving e-mails. We can send messages but they can be saved only in local folder. In browser e-mails arrive and we can send them without any problems so it has to be some problem with Thunderbird. We were trying a lot of solutions, but only one works - creating new profile. It is very time-consuming solution, because we have to copy all e-mails, contacts, user settings, etc and we have to create a new profile couple times in a month... We were trying to off our antyvirus, forget password, etc. Probably there is some problem with certificates, but we do not know how to fix it. We use IMAP. Let me know what we can do to solve this problem, because creating new profiles is too tiring... :(

hey, I deleted a Google Account and removed it from my thunderbird app on Win10. Every time I open Thunderbird and thereafter every 10 minutes or so I get a pop-up asking me to log into that deleted account. I already deleted the existing entries in the seetings-passwords-saved passwords section and I deleted the corresponding Imap-folder under "...\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\***.default-release\ImapMail"

Is there something else I need to do in order to stop that annoying log-in-request?

Hallo,

mein alter Rechner ist "gestorben", weshalb ich einen neuen brauchte. Vom alten Rechner hatte ich die drei Postfächer, mit denen ich "arbeite" gesichert und nun versucht, diese in der neuen thunderbird-Installation auf dem neuen Rechner einzuhängen, schrittweise, so wie in den FAQs zum Thema Import beschrieben.

Aber: Die alten Postfächer/Inhalte werden nicht angezeigt. Sie sind aber im Zielverzeichnis ".thunderbird" zu sehen und an der richtigen Stelle.

Ich bitte um Hilfestellung zur Problemlösung.

I have been trying for 2 days to do:

1. Move the Thunderbird data base to E-drive from c as there is no space on C. I allow thunderbird to install - no option for data base location and it puts it on c-drive my default. I then copy all the files to e-drive and then it wants to re-install again. Same PC.

2. I cannot get mailstore to convert pst as the Outlook function in Thurnderbird does not or I cannot get it to work.

I am complete novice and this is all to complex. I live in remote place in Austrialian out back

How do I set up a mailing list in this latest version of Thunderbird? In the past I was able to group people in my address book into various groups and then mass mail to a given group (mailing list).

I recently bought a new computer w/ Windows 11, installed Thunderbird just fine; but, I am unable to establish my previous groups/mailing lists.

Does anyone know of a way to doe this? I have looked at the help section on this, but its help advice is dated 2015 and applies to a much older version of Thunderbird. There is no "Address book > new> mailing group" option in this latest version of the program that I can find.

For years I have used Thunderbird. I have had copies of Thunderbird both on my Windows 11 desktop and on my Windows 11 laptop. When I am at home I use the desktop and when I travel I use the laptop. When I leave home I copy the entire Profile directory from Appdata /Roaming directory to the Laptop and then reverse when I return home. Last week I returned home and no matter what I tried I couldn't get the Desktop to use the Profile transferred from the Laptop. It poped up a message that the version was wrong. Upon checking the Thunderbird version on the Laptop I saw it was newer than Desktop. So I uninstalled Thunderbird and reinstalled only to find out that downloaded version was still behind the Laptop. So today I finally was able to install the newest version on the Desktop but now I get the popup titled Profile missing with the following message "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

Any help appreciated getting Thunderbird working on my Desktop.

Hi,

I need to roll back from Thunderbird 135.0 (Release Channel) to 128.7.0 (Extended Support Release) without losing any data. However, I am receiving a message about creating a new profile due to compatibility reasons.

I would like to downgrade while maintaining a seamless experience, ideally with just a few clicks. This Thunderbird e-mail client is used in an operational environment. Could you guide me on how to do this?

Alternatively, is there a way to get my add-ons working again on version 135.0?

I also find Thunderbird’s handling of add-ons across different versions quite frustrating. The frequent compatibility issues between versions create unnecessary problems. Is there any plan to make this process more flexible in the future?

I have several Google accounts. For each one, the first time I checked my mail, I got a Thunderbird pop up saying "See, edit, share, and permanently delete all the calendars you can access using Google Calendar" and another Thunderbird pop-up saying "See, edit, download, and permanently delete your contacts", followed by two "Mozilla Thunderbird Email was granted access to your Google Account" emails to each account.

And for all accounts but one, that was the end of it. But for one account, for some reason, I have to go through the whole authorization process again each time I start Thunderbird. I tried deleting the account, and Thunderbird still made me go through the whole authorization process -- for an account that no longer existed!

I re-created the account. No change.

Any idea what the problem is? It started after a Thunderbird update.

There was a previous thread (archived) about moving IMAP folder contents to a Local Folder in Thunderbird, however, the instructions in that old thread are no longer valid in the current version of Thunderbird.

Using Mac OS version of Thunderbird 128.6. I am unable to create new Folders at all. The interface no longer seems to allow for a basic local folder without an email account. Why did this disappear?

I read that it is possible to create a dummy email account (w/ settings using local directory) and copy/move messages to the dummy account so that they are removed from the server IMAP folder and remain in the dummy account folder. I have successfully created a backup of the entire IMAP account into a dummy account (via download & sync to offline and copy mbox to new local folder).

However, this dummy account still wants to "check for mail" when I am in Online mode. I don't want this dummy account to keep checking for new mail - I only want it to be a local folder and not a mail account folder.

So 2 main questions: 1 - how do I make a local folder (not a mail account) that I can archive me IMAP messages into? 2 - how do you archive messages from IMAP folders to a local folder and make sure they are removed from the server?

Is there a way to make a filter, or is there an add-on, that will automatically delete attachments from emails once the email has been sent? I want this to happen as I send the email. Note: I don't want the email to be deleted.

Filtaquila will allow me to detach the attachment to a specified folder, but I want the attachment to be deleted. Both AttachmentExtractor and AttachmentExtractor Continued are no longer available.

Am running Thunderbird version 115.18.0, on Mac OS 10.12.6.

On an old Windows 7 Pro (SP1) 32 bit workstation (with .Net 4.8), I recently updated from Thunderbird 45.1.0 to version 115.18.0 (most recent for Windows 7). The update worked fine, but afterwards the new version is not saving passwords. While entering a password every time is possible, I have 7 email accounts and that gets tedious. I can't keep TB open as it uses a lot more memory than the older version, so either I get this fixed or I have to use other software.

I have not set up a master password because it won't even save that. When I enter a password (for email login) without asking it to save it, the login works and email works fine; but if I ask it to save the password, the login does not work and it errors out. This could be simply a timeout trying to save the password, so the main thing is to resolve why TB is not able to save any passwords.

I have had Thunderbird accounts, on various laptops, for many years. I'm trying to get it working, with my existing account, on a fairly new Windows 11 laptop. Everything was working fine until I get to the "Set Up Your Existing Email Address" page. Entered my actual name, email address, and (I believe) password. Chose IMAP, as always. It's stuck on "Checking password". The little dot has ben rolling back and forth for 3 hours. Can someone help me?
