I'm trying to move my profile data to a different local drive. I copied the profiles directory, and edited the profile.ini to point to the new location. When I start it up, for some of the accounts I end up with an inbox (in thunderbird) with mutliple (100s) of inbox files like

INBOX-1 INBOX-10 INBOX-100

When I look at the directory these are all .msf files.

How can I combine them into a single inbox file? It seemed to happen on two imap accounts, one on outlook, one on gmail.

Summary of my current relevant software/hardware:

FireFox (UK): 113.0.2 (64-bit)
Windows 10 Pro(UK):
 Vers.: 22H2
 Installed on: 2021-01-23
 OS build: 19045-2965
Lenovo (laptop):
 ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3
 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
Installed RAM: 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable)
System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

My problems with FireFox 113.0.2 started when I began to download some Affinity V2 videos. Some of these were rather large (over 500MB) and I noticed that several were being downloaded at the same time (which was no surprise). However, after sometime I noticed that only one of the videos was completely downloaded and the others were just stopped. Then, when I looked at the task manager the number of FireFox instances was increasing: ...,5,6,...18,..

Of course, I thought I could fix the download process but all my efforts failed; e.g. after a restart of windows and execution of FireFox the same videos were still in a "hold" state and many instances of FireFox were being executed. After a frustating night of failures I finally decided to restore an older FireFox using my Acronis backup/recovery software. My last Aronis backup of my entire system was made on 2023/04/07 with the most recent version of FireFox at the time which worked fine when downloading several large video files at the same time.

I only included the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox' in the restore since I have installed a rather large number of new apps and updates after 2023/04/07. This also failed -- my add-ons, bookmarks, etc. in this restored version were all missing and before I could stop the recovery process, the restored FireFox was updated to the latest as of today (2023/06/01). And of course the problem had not be fixed.

So finally to my request: What directories, files do I need to restore, from the 2023/04/27 backup with all of its features at that time -- this is important, and how do I stop it from upgrading to a newer version?

I would be glad to provide additional information if needed :-)

I've downloaded a calendar file 4 times from a website. I've checked all of my 2 download folders with internet and SD card. Not there. I 4 notifications listed next to the Firefox shortcut. Where the hell did Firefox send the files and how do I deal with the notifications. Not listed when I go into the settings. Beyond frustrating. Shouldn't be this hard. Urgh.

Hello, thank you for your help. What a pretty application.

I installed Thunderbird on Fedora 36. It came up and asked for account information. I typed some in, but needed to enter ports. I hit the advanced button and it gave me an unexpected message about my settings not being saved.

Anyway, the account settings->Server Settings, and settings->Outgoing Server, are all now set and correct. Strangely, there is no place on the form for entering the passwords for the incoming and outgoing accounts. I guess it will prompt for those?

I can not get Thunderbird to do anything at all.

If I tell it to read mail, nothing happens (and no password prompt so it can not have checked for messages).

There are no 'test connection' buttons on the settings pages that I can find.

There are no error messages that I can find, or any other indication of a problem.

LOL I am completely baffled and have no idea what to do to make it go. Any tips appreciated. Thanks!

I used configuration given me by Frontier (auto config resulted in nonsense). It stalled on checking password, so I checked for solutions to that and found: "I suggest deleting the password and letting Thunderbird just check account settings. I have seen this long test many times. After the account is confirmed, you can then enter password."

So I did that. I clicked re-test to be sure the config was right. I got this message: "The following settings were found by probing the server" The settings were exactly the same as my original input, thus confirming my settings were correct.

When I clicked Done, I got an "Error Creating Account" window with the message "Incoming server already exists."

I checked for solutions to that error, but none of them seemed to fit my situation since I never installed Thunderbird before, and this is the first and only account I attempted to set up.

So what do I do? I need to get my messages really soon, as I normally receive 30-40 per day, and Outlook quit on me several days ago.

Thanks, Jon

I use TB with W10. Mails are stored in a separate Folder in Partition F:/film_mail I now want to work with TB in Mabox Linux and installed it (102.11.0). I backed the profile data I found in the W10 user directory. Maybe I carry some ballast since I use it a long time with different versions.

Here is the profile.ini from W10:

[Install8216C80C92C4E828] Default=F:\film_mail Locked=1

[Profile3] Name=default-release-1 IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/vf8qu6ib.default-release-1

[Profile2] Name=film_mail IsRelative=0 Path=F:\film_mail

[InstallD78BF5DD33499EC2] Default=F:\film_mail Locked=1

[Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/m04wafv4.default Default=1

[Profile0] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/ofh9vmya.default-release

[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2

When I try to import this into TB, the error console says

Uncaught (in promise) DOMException: Could not open the file at /run/media/datacine/Data_Df/Thunderbird_Profile/prefs.js

I did search for this file and it is included in my folder F:\film_mail. I tried to do the import on this folder and get: NS_ERROR_FILE_CORRUPTED: Component returned failure code: 0x8052000b (NS_ERROR_FILE_CORRUPTED) [mozIStorageStatement.executeStep]

Uncaught (in promise) Exception { name: "NS_ERROR_FILE_CORRUPTED", message: "Component returned failure code: 0x8052000b (NS_ERROR_FILE_CORRUPTED) [mozIStorageStatement.executeStep]", result: 2152857611, filename: "resource:///modules/SQLiteDirectory.jsm", lineNumber: 239, columnNumber: 0, data: null, stack: "get cards@resource:///modules/SQLiteDirectory.jsm:239:32\nget childCards@resource:///modules/AddrBookDirectory.jsm:300:1\n_importSqliteFile@resource:///modules/AddrBookFileImporter.jsm:313:24\n", location: XPCWrappedNative_NoHelper }

How to import my settings from a Windows10 installation?

Just got a new PC. Was intending to use Outlook... but, after a lot of hassle, that would not work, despite having copied all the settings from my old PC to the new one. So, after about four hours or more, and still nowhere, thought I would try Thunderbird. Installed it, and input my name, email address, and a password, and it would not work. Never managed to connect to the server. So, have literally wasted a whole day, and the new PC still will not do emails! Very baffled!

Bought a new computer that was supposed to come with Windows 11, but came with Windows 10 and right to upgrade. Set up computer, downloaded Firefox, and it ran fine. after a couple of hours, ran the upgrade to Windows 11. Firefox stopped opening. uninstalled then reinstalled Firefox several times, but each time during installation get the following message (image below):

"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSVCP140.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f."

Have tried installing with and without defaults, and refreshing instead of reinstalling.
