Hi! I have very unpleasant problem with my phones after legal OS update! After Alcatel OT Fire OS update from v1.0.1 to v1.1.0.0, the phone stops to show contacts names and pics for incoming calls and names for missing calls from phonebook. Before update, everything worked just fine! People from Telenor Serbia obviously hadn`t solution for this problem. They send me a request to send them a phones (yes two phones with same problem), but I got a phones back with unsolved problem! Also in the datas about phone, OS, e.t.c, the phone number doesn`t exist any more, just blank field. If means something, the phones are with different hardware revisions, 11 and 12! Any solution for this problem?! Thanks!

Hello,

After reading the information provided about your issue I suggest a soft reset of the phone.

  1. Take the back cover of the phone off.
  2. Take the battery out.
  3. Take the SIM card and microSD card out (if applicable).
  4. Wait 10 seconds.
  5. Put the SIM card and microSD card back in (if applicable).
  6. Put the battery back in.
  7. Put the back cover back on.
  8. Turn the device on.
  9. Check if the issue you were having is still present.

Please report back to us if this solved your problem!

Thank you

Hi dgojkovich,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your call history after updating your Alcatel to version 1.1.

This is the first time that I hear of a problem of this sort, so I hope that Andrew's suggestion works. If it doesn't, we may need to some additional troubleshooting to find the root of the problem.

If you try to call a contact directly from the Contacts app, does it show correctly on your call history?

  1. Go to the Contacts app
  2. Tap on the contact you wish to call
  3. Tap on the phone number

Also, would you mind sharing a screenshot of the contact, and a screenshot of the call history showing the phone numbers only (with no contact information)?

Thanks,

- Ralph

Thank you for your answers, but nothing was a successful.

Andrew, the phones were been on Telenor Serbia more than a week without SIM and memory card. Anyway I tried on my phone the suggested, but it didn`t change the things. I kept my phone without battery, SIM and memory card a couple of hours, but it didn`t help!
Ralph, nothing works corectly. It isn`t important from where I start to call (from contacts directly, missing calls or all calls), the names and pictures from phonebook always is missing!!!

And here are the screenshots! The first is "All calls", the second is "Missing calls", the third suggest that the names are displaying when I communicate with the messages, the fourth suggest that the phonebook name exists, but the name on all calls is missing. And the last screenshot I made during the incoming call! Of course, the contact exist on phonebook!!! And additional, I want to say to you, before the OS update, it doesn`t matter is a contact remembered with prefix +3816x xxxx or just 06x xxxx, everything worked just fine!

Hi dgojkovich,

I am sorry to hear that you are still having this problem, and that the suggested steps did not help.

I understand that you have already received a new phone that still has this issue, so I am not sure if the next steps will help, but can you try to do a factory reset on your phone? To do this:

  • Go into Settings > More Information > and tap on the Reset Phone button

In the meantime, I opened a bug ticket #1007420 so that our engineers can investigate this problem. To help us with additional information, can you please provide the Build ID of your phone? To find this information:

  • Go into Settings > More Information > and look the the Build Identifier

We look forward to hearing back from you. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!!

Well, I forgot to tell you that before I sent my phones to Telenor, I tried twice to reset my phone to the factory state, at first time with the button combination and the second time through the menu (Settings > More Information > Reset Phone), but it did not fix the problem!

Anyway, tommorow I will try again to do it on the described way. If I am getting positive results, I will let you, but I doubt it!

And here is the phone datas:

First phone:

OS version: 1.1.0.0 Firmware revision: 02009A Hardware revision: 11 Platform revision: 18.1 Update channel: release-tcl-TN-RS

The second phone:

OS version: 1.1.0.0 Firmware revision: 02009A Hardware revision: 12 Platform revision: 18.1 Update channel: release-tcl-TN-RS

If you need some additional information, or if I dropped something, please let me know, I will send to you.

Any news?

Hi Johan_vdm,

There are no news for this issue yet. However, I updated the bug ticket #1007420 to let the developers know that you are also experiencing this issue.

From the description of this bug, it sounds like it could possibly be a regression in the update. The OEMs are responsible for testing and delivering the updates. If a new update is needed to resolve this issue, Alcatel would be responsible for it.

I hope that you find this information helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!!

This seems to be resolved in version 1.1.0.0 rev 01020.

Hi Lufte, thank you for the response and for sharing this information.

johan_vdm, can you confirm if you received an update to version 1.1.0.0 rev 01020, and if so, did it resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance,

- Ralph
