The web has gotten very interconnected... Using the NoScript extension, I can allow or disallow scripts from other sites to run in the page. If I block both voxmedia.com and sbnation.com, then the comments do not show, but if I unblock either of them, then they do show. (They are related somehow.) I'm not sure why the comments are blocked for you. Some common issues with content being shared across servers like this are: third party cookies blocked, script blockers, ad blockers, other privacy tools. (For Disqus, the blocker is avast! Online Security.) In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode?
